Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Council Meeting

How many times have I fallen unconscious, I was starting to lose count.

Opening my eyes to the usual light hovering above my head,

my body felt heavy, I felt extremely sore,

There were faint whispers in the air, I couldn't tell if they were in my head or if I could actually hear them.

The door opened and a figure walked in.

The surgeon from before, wearing a black lab coat, with no facial features.

I moved back slightly, not out of fear, just instinct.

As hard as it was, I believed I was safe.

The fact that I was awake proved that much.

They had plans for me, I didn't know what, but I knew killing me wasn't going to help them get what they want.

The faceless surgeon just stood there, I could feel his stare even without eyes, the irony was unsettling.

"Umm, is there a problem.?"

I spoke cautiously.

He said nothing, just continued staring.

"Can I know where exactly I am?."

Nothing.

Then he pointed at me.

I frowned.

"Me."

What happened to me.?

I began looking around, certain he was still pointing at me.

Then slowly, I turned my head toward my body.

Before passing out, I had seen my mother's arm being taken from a box.

Why was her arm there.?

Wanted to ask again, but chose not to

I looked down at myself.

Carefully raising my head, I sat up.

The restraints snapped with ease as I moved.

But there was nothing.

No scars, no changes, nothing visible.

It was almost like the first time, either they did nothing or I healed far too well.

The door opened again.

Another figure stepped in.

I had hoped it was the old man, but it wasn't.

The figure that stood before me had white hair, yet looked young, like someone in his twenties.

He wore a long white robe.

He exchanged a nod with the surgeon, then approached me after the surgeon left.

"Mister Devon, I go by the name Lancer Ariles, I was sent for you, I would appreciate it if you came with me."

I was only wearing black shorts.

He walked over to a box and handed me a shirt.

After putting it on, I decided to follow him.

He made it seem like I had a choice, I didn't.

He carried himself with composure and authority as he led the way through the ship.

As we walked, I glanced at the glass barriers.

My hair was still white.

I looked slightly more built, not as skinny as before, though I couldn't be sure.

But that wasn't why I stopped.

They had done something to me, and not knowing was killing me. But based on what I could see I looked normal.

After a few turns, we arrived at a door.

It towered over me, far larger than I expected, making the ship feel endless.

Lancer stepped toward a strange runic circle.

Using his fingernail, he tore open his arm.

He pressed his blood against the circle.

A deep rumble echoed as the door slowly opened.

He walked in and gestured for me to follow.

The interior was disappointing.

Aside from the designs, it wasn't nearly as large as the door suggested.

The place was empty.

"Move to the center and do nothing."

The moment he spoke, he walked to the side.

Light shimmered across the room.

Figures appeared where there had been nothing a moment ago.

They all turned to look at me.

Some looked old, others young.

I even spotted a boy who looked about ten.

"Leygold, is this the one you claimed possesses a first grade black vein."

An old man spoke.

Footsteps sounded behind me.

Someone was already there.

Golden hair, two lines running down his cheeks, a sword at his side.

"Yes, Third Council Seat Addrad, this is the so called miracle."

Leygold said, bowing.

"Interesting."

A female voice followed.

"Leygold, who will take responsibility for this child?"

Before he could answer, another voice interrupted.

"Of course, it will be me, Leygold is my subordinate, I ordered the operation on the planet called Earth."

The female voice scoffed.

"Don't be ridiculous, Wader, Earth was under my jurisdiction, which makes him mine."

I stood there, completely lost.

All I could do was stay still and wait.

Their voices rose as they argued.

Then suddenly.

A figure appeared at the center.

Silence fell instantly.

Everyone bowed.

"At ease."

His voice was calm, yet overwhelming.

"I am already aware of what has transpired."

"Fifth Council Elder Yuer, Fourth Council Elder Wader, you both hold equal claim to the miracle from Earth."

"Which also means the burden is shared."

"Instead of conflict, let the boy decide when the time comes."

"For now, he will be trained."

"He will choose when he is ready."

The old man in white turned toward me.

"And what is your name, child."

"He is called,"

Leygold began, but was cut off.

"I do not recall directing that question to you, Commander."

Leygold immediately bowed.

"My apologies."

The man stared in silence for a while then continued.

"Commander, make preparations for his arrival at the tower, I look forward to this so called miracle. That will be all.

Meeting adjourned"

Leygold clenched his jaw but nodded.

"Meeting adjourned."

The figure vanished.

One by one, the others disappeared.

Only one remained.

Wader. The 4th council elder.

"Leygold, abandon your pride, and remember what the Leader said,

your child may never reach the Tower, but that issue lies with you,

do not embarrass me again."

"Yes, Council Elder."

With a sigh he vanished.

Leygold stood still for a moment.

Then.

"Lancer." He spoke out loud his voice echoing in the room

Lancer stepped forward.

"Teach him the basics, show him to his dorm, training begins tomorrow,

and i will be teaching."

His brows furrowed,

he said that last part like it was meant to mean something.

Then he vanished in a streak of light.

Lancer stared at me for a long moment.

He turned his head a bit slowly to the left,

Almost as if curious by me.

Then his hands moved,

I watched him the whole time and still saw nothing.

He was fast

Too fast.

A sharp slap sent me sliding across the floor.

My lip split open,

blood filled my mouth.

My vision blurred.

A faint smile rested on his lips.

"Alright, let me teach you the basics."
