Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:Blood

Blood,

that was all there was. The screams of people had long become distant in my ears.

I stood there unmoving. Right now, I had a hand in mine,

A hand that belonged to the most important person in my life.

I had run a few meters before noticing her hand felt lighter. Something didn't feel right. I could tell.

I turned just slightly,

And there in my hand was an arm with pieces of flesh dangling from it.

What the hell just happened?

....

Why is there an arm with me?

. .....

Where the hell is my mom?

.....

My mind was going blank and fast.

And then my eyes saw it

Just behind me a few meters stood a creature resembling a wolf. It had black fur and red eyes,

It looked normal except for the three heads moving independently of it's body each head had it's own eyes three of them each,

Right now it paid no heed to me as it dug his teeths into something below its claws

Already knowing what it could be

but refusing to believe what it was.

I looked below.

Her eyes lay open, the bottom half of her body gone. Two of the heads dug into the bottom half.

The last head focused on the top half.

I watched as it tore into her insides,it's mouth covered in her blood, Intestines spilled everywhere. Blood and gore—I saw them all.

What was a 17-year-old boy like me expected to do when faced with such evil?

Run?

I could feel my brain screaming through my nerves, urging me to do just that.

And yet…

I took not a single step from where I stood.

Or was it better if I had cried?

What was there to cry about?

The fact she was dead?

Or the fact I hadn't noticed that she was.

I couldn't, she'd a single tear,

I dared not

"Mom" I said beneath my breath, as if saying it out loud would force me to accept the truth.

The creatures feasted but Thier eyes were locked into me

my heart was beating like a war drum.

Fear, and rage mixing in a crucible unsure which I should pick.

At that moment I chose the unreasonable option.

Fight over flight.

I looked around me. It wasn't just me. They were everywhere, each of these abominations,

each of them different—wings, beaks, claws. It was everywhere. Half eaten bodies laid around the entire bridge some screams still being heard.

But my eyes weren't interested in anything else but the one that stood in front of me.

Gently I took a step.

Then another.

Slow,

steady and deliberate.

It just kept looking at me, as I moved closer

Then I ran.

I ran so fast I had no idea my arm had been broken.

The hand I held my mother with—broken when the creature yanked her away from me.

Screaming at the top of my lungs,

I closed the gap and lashed out with her arm in mine.

The creature's mouth chomped on the arm.

And with a casual flick,

I was tossed a few meters away.

My body making a contrasting sound with the tarred road.

Blood gurgled right in my mouth. My vision kept fading and returning,

And yet the rage in me still burned all the same.

" What...gives you the right to take from me?"

I tried moving my body, but the same sound was heard again, like the crushing of a bag of chips.

I let out a horrid scream. As blood poured out of my mouth

It hurts, like hell.

I laid there. I couldn't get up. Breathing was all I could do.

But the creature had no such problems.

It had ignored my half-eaten mother and was walking towards me.

It launched. Its hundreds of teeth formed a spiral in its mouth.

All I could move appeared to be my arms.

Just in the nick of time I blocked it, using my mother's severed arm to hold back the beast jaws,

The other two heads immediately switched and bit into my sides ripping of flesh,

My hand was getting weaker, I knew I was dying, but dying like this is unacceptable.

I knew the arm wasn't going to hold out longer, so I needed to find a way.

Not a way to escape,

but a way to kill the creature.

I had lost my ability to feel fear.

Anger had overridden reasoning.

It was already passing through the arm when I saw a tiny piece of metal lying gently on the tarred floor. I needed to pick it, but right now my two arms were busy holding back the beast.

I knew one arm wasn't strong enough to hold the beast while I picked it… The moment I let go, it would smash through my chest. But if I didn't I would die,

I let go of one arm, allowing it to smash into my rib cage.

I had already picked the metal and with a swipe I passed it through it's third eyes

It howled as it staggered back.

The other two heads screamed as well.

Even if it cost me my life itself, I'm okay with it.

I began crawling even as my back was broken. Every single step taken was agony. This was my chance while the creature was blind.

My blood kept pouring out of my mouth with each step I took.

The sides of my body had holes that you could see the inside of my body

My ribcage was broken breathing was getting difficult

at this rate, I might be the one who dies first.

Now!

I launched myself off the ground, the metal from earlier still in my hand.

Just as I got close enough, the bridge made a weird sound,

Everything paused ,and then it began crashing down with the everything thing within it

,

The beast had already recovered.

Now killing it had just gotten a whole lot harder.

Then with a sudden sound,

The bridge broke to pieces,

With I and the beast on it.

As we fell, I watched as the creature stared at me and roared,

That's fine with me bastard, I already planned to kill you as well .

I was planning on how to kill this crrature, as we stared each other down

Only to get smashed in the head by falling debris.

We both crashed into the waters. And as I slightly opened my eyes, I was already a few feet deep into the water. I couldn't swim. I couldn't move my body.

Only my fingers and toes barely moved.

I was paralyzed. All I could do was watch myself drown. I held in air, but for how long?

My blood mixing with the ocean's blue hue.

I knew that creature still lived. A simple fall was most certainly not enough.

Why the hell was I dying now? When that creature still lived.

Even at my final moments, as my eyes closed for the last time, all I felt for the last time wasn't memories of those I cared about.

They say your brain picks out good memories when you die so you could die happy no regrets.

But....why?

Why was the only thing I could feel right now was

pure unfiltered rage?
