In front of Brian was the base of the Black Bulls, an extremely large house, or rather a mansion consisting of many floors and built mostly of brick and stone.
Brian's first impression upon seeing the Black Bulls' base was chaos; just by the strange shape of the house alone, one could partly imagine and feel the atmosphere taking place inside this place.
And that perception was only possible because Brian heard the noisy sounds emitting from outside.
"This beautiful base is something I painstakingly searched for a long time to discover."
Yami stepped out from Finral's spatial portal, he took a drag of his cigarette then exhaled smoke, "How do you find this place?"
Following right behind Yami were Finral and Gordon, the two of them also moved through the spatial portal, but Finral's complexion was a bit off; he looked as if he were sick from using a large amount of mana in a single instance.
"It's good, isn't it."
Brian replied, slowly walking closer to the Black Bulls' base then placing a hand on the stone wall, "I think I will like this place."
At the same time, Brian's palm transmitted a moderate amount of mana, enough for him to spread his mana through the walls of the Black Bulls' base, reaching every corner of the house.
Brian's action could not hide from Yami's sharp eyes; he immediately recognized what Brian was doing.
Brian's mana quickly spread throughout the Black Bulls' base; immediately afterward, he also understood the structure and design of this place, even the presence and actions of the people inside were detected by him.
If speaking solely about the ability to sense mana from the surrounding environment, Earth Magic cannot be stronger than Wind Magic or Lightning Magic, but a type of magic like Earth Magic is also not weak when it comes to this capability.
When encountering favorable conditions such as sensing mana within soil, stone, or buildings, this capability of Earth Magic will exert even better effectiveness.
Brian relied on Toph's "Seismic Sense" from the Avatar world to develop his own mana-sensing ability. And wonderfully, he succeeded thanks to his natural talent as well as constant practice during the six months before participating in the Magic Knights selection exam.
"Is this house someone's property?"
Brian turned to ask Yami, and he received an answer from the Captain of the Black Bulls immediately after.
"Yeah, that's right. I've also asked for permission from the owner of this place, so rest easy."
Yami walked closer to Brian, "That guy won't do anything to you guys, as long as you don't get too close to him, that is."
"I see."
"Let's go, I'll take you to meet the other members of the Squad."
"Yes, sir…"
Yami, along with Finral and Gordon, led Brian toward the entrance of the base, but before they could reach the door, the door in front of them exploded due to an explosion caused by a fire-attribute magic spell.
Boom!!
The door exploded, shattering into small pieces, and the debris flew toward the four of them, forcing Brian to coat his body with mana to avoid being hit.
The scene inside the Black Bulls' base was extremely chaotic, and the people inside looked quite bizarre and were not behaving well at all.
"Stay still! I'll beat you to a pulp, Luck!"
"Hehe, try it if you can!"
Most prominent among the people inside the base were two young men who were fighting right in the middle of this place.
One looked like a street thug, this guy possessed Fire Magic, while the other was laughing like a drug-addled lunatic, possessing Lightning Magic.
They were Magna and Luck, the two main members who caused most of the noise in the Black Bulls' base.
Besides these two, Brian also saw other familiar yet unfamiliar members of the Black Bulls.
A huge guy sitting in one spot puffing smoke out of his mouth, a guy looking like a pervert staring into a mirror then having a nosebleed, a girl nonchalantly sitting and eating right near where Magna and Luck were fighting, and a drunk woman who was nearly naked lying sprawled out on the sofa.
Brian's gaze inadvertently swept over to this woman; he had to admit that the scene in front of him right now was truly too attractive. But he also knew this was not good, so he averted his eyes elsewhere, then looked back at her again, then looked elsewhere again.
The woman making Brian's eyes dart around was Vanessa, a witch in the literal sense.
'Damn it… I should get used to this.'
Brian thought to himself while not looking at Vanessa anymore. Although he couldn't deny that this girl was very seductive, he already had another goal.
Besides, he didn't have strange tastes, especially when this girl held special feelings for Captain Yami.
"Oi, oi… Will you guys shut up for a second?!"
Bang!!
Yami gathered mana into his arm then slammed it hard against the wall, causing a huge noise, making all the other members stop their actions immediately.
"Captain!"
All members of the Black Bulls immediately surrounded Yami, they became noisy again, and Yami had to discipline them again so that everything would settle down.
When no one was causing trouble or making noise anymore, Yami finally introduced Brian to the other members.
"This kid is Brian, from now on he will be our new member."
Yami looked at Brian, "Besides those here, there are other members, but they are either busy with missions or cannot show up. Even so, try to fit in."
The gazes of the remaining members of the Black Bulls poured toward Brian; at this moment, he had made a decent impression on them thanks to his face and his natural aura.
"Ah, I'll try my best."
Brian slowly replied to Yami, he turned to the other members then introduced himself, "My name is Brian, from Hage village. From now on, I look forward to your help."
Hearing Brian was from a place like Hage village, the others couldn't help but feel surprised.
"Oh my, you're really from such a remote place?"
Vanessa said in a surprised voice, but then she changed to a different tone, "To come here from such a remote place to become a Magic Knight, you must be quite capable. How about letting big sister do something to reward your efforts?"
Brian could see Vanessa's seductive body right in front of him as she slightly leaned over while walking toward him. Although he wanted to say yes very much, he was still clear-headed.
"Oh, thank you for your kindness. But I don't think I need it."
Brian said while walking to another side when Vanessa started to cover her mouth with her hand.
"Blegh…!"
Vanessa vomited on the spot; this action of hers made Brian move a safe distance away from her, enough for him to feel safe from the things she had just vomited out.
It is true that Vanessa is a seductive woman, but when seeing someone like that vomit everything she had in her stomach, her image in Brian's eyes also decreased a little.
At least when Vanessa intentionally teased Brian in the future, he could remember this moment to resist her temptation.
Don't know whether to be happy or sad.
"Hey hey, you're the new member of our Black Bulls? A commoner from a place like Hage village?"
Magna's voice caught Brian's attention; he looked over and saw Magna walking toward him, his face showing a clear look of intimidation.
"I don't know what you did to be accepted by Captain Yami. But if you want to receive the Squad's cloak, you have to prove yourself worthy of it first."
"Prove…?"
Brian tilted his head, pretending not to understand Magna's intention, "How do I have to prove it?"
"Simple."
Magna used his thumb to point at himself, "You just need to pass the Black Bulls' new member welcome party, that's all!"
"A party?"
"Yeah, that's right."
Magna suddenly became strangely excited when mentioning the party, "Go outside, we will hold a welcome party for you out there."
