Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Kai stared at his hands, turning them slowly.

"…But how…?" he muttered. "How am I back?"

Ren exhaled slightly.

"…I don't know."

A pause.

"…You're a ghost."

Kai blinked.

"…Really?"

He stood up from the bed and walked straight toward the wall.

"Wait—can I go through this?"

He leaned forward—

thud.

Kai bounced back slightly.

"…Ow."

Ren stared at him.

"…Really? That's the first thing you try?"

Kai rubbed his head.

"What? It's important!"

Ren sighed, then lifted his hand.

"…No. Look."

The ring.

Faintly glowing.

Kai's eyes shifted to it.

"…The ring?"

Ren nodded.

"Yeah… it was in Dad's office."

A pause.

"…One of the things he found."

Kai looked more serious now.

"You went into the office?"

Ren didn't answer.

Instead—

he suddenly turned and ran to his desk.

Kai blinked.

"…What are you doing?"

Ren opened his laptop quickly.

"…I'm searching something."

The screen lit up his face.

His fingers moved fast across the keyboard.

"Dad wasn't just traveling," Ren said.

"He was documenting things… symbols… locations…"

He clicked through files, searching.

"…If this ring is connected to what he found…

Kai stepped closer, watching the screen.

"…Then he knew about this stuff?"

Ren's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…I think he knew more than he told us."

He opened one of his father's scanned notes.

Symbols.

Drawings.

Circles.

Chains.

A figure standing in the center.

Kai froze slightly.

"…That…"

Ren's eyes moved quickly across the screen.

"…Wait."

He leaned closer.

"…I found something."

Kai stepped beside him.

"What is it?"

Ren pointed at the screen.

A pause.

"…It comes from the pyramids."

Kai frowned.

"…Pyramids? Like ancient stuff?"

Ren nodded.

"Yeah. It says it belonged to an old group of people in Egypt…"

He kept reading.

"…They believed that if one of their people died…"

He hesitated slightly.

"…the ring could connect you to them."

Kai's expression shifted.

"…So that's why I'm here?"

Ren nodded slowly.

"…Yeah."

A pause.

"…You're not alive…"

"…but you're not gone either."

Kai looked at his hands again.

"…That's… weird."

Ren kept reading.

"…Wait."

His tone changed.

"…There's more."

Kai leaned closer.

"What now?"

Ren read it carefully.

"…'Olydo.'"

Kai blinked.

"…What does that mean?"

Ren's eyes narrowed slightly as he understood it.

"…It means…"

A pause.

"…giving your body to the soul as a vessel."

Silence.

Kai looked at him.

"…What?"

Ren continued, more serious now.

"…It says… you can share your body with the dead spirit."

"…But only if both of you say it together."

The room went quiet.

Heavy.

Kai slowly crossed his arms.

"…So you're saying…"

"…I can control your body?"

Ren didn't answer immediately.

But his expression said enough.

"…In a way," Ren said finally.

"…Yeah."

Kai looked at him for a second.

Then smirked slightly.

"…That's kinda crazy."

Ren didn't smile.

"…It's also dangerous."

Kai tilted his head.

"Why?"

Ren looked back at the screen.

"…It doesn't say what happens if something goes wrong."

Silence again.

The ring on Ren's finger gave a faint pulse.

Like it was waiting.

Kai looked at it.

Then back at Ren.

"…You thinking what I'm thinking?"

Ren didn't look away from the ring.

"…Yeah."

Their eyes met.

One body.

Two souls.

And a word that could change everything.

To be continued...
