Chapter 2 - The Door

As Vyrel opened the door, he saw a dimension as large as the Lavernia continent.

"W-what is this?"

Vyrel in shock couldn't move after he saw how big the dimension inside the door was, "How am i supposed to find a helm in this large space".

Vyrel lost in thought and kept remembering the advice of the guard at the city gate.

"Hey kid you'll be turning 18 tomorrow right?, if you ever become a helm rider, choose the crimson helm, its powers gives u strength to fight monsters and it's also one of the stronger helms, if you ever come across one that is hahaha!".

Vyrel got an idea on what helm he should choose.

As Vyrel walked on the dimension, he sensed something that is alien to him.

"W-what is this feeling?

It's like my body is being drowned in a lake, i remember the guard saying something about ether, a source of energy to power the helm, this must be it right?".

Vryel felt the ether for the first time inside the dimension, and as Vyrel walked he saw something in the distance.

"Whoa that's a massive lake, it's almost like an ocean maybe i can take a bath there!"

Vyrel walked towards the massive lake and stumbled against a forest, a land full of trees and vines.

"How tall are these trees? it's even taller than the houses of nobles on logersman, those vines alone can circle around the city"

Vyrel proceeded to walk in the dense forest, vyrel was astonished at how big this forest is.

The path through the forest was extremely difficult, the roots alone are as tall as an adult Kiranian.

Vyrel reached the center of the dense forest exhausted after three hours of hiking, and at the center of the forest discovers something that resembles a shrine.

"That's an ancient structure, maybe there's treasures inside? heh i wanna check".

Vyrel approached the shrine, the ether on this place are denser and more concentrated.

Vyrel noticed something that caught his eyes, a structure he hasn't seen before.

Right next to the shrine a pillar-like structure is glowing a jade-like color.

"W-whoa isn't this pillar like one of the dungeons that the helm riders conquered?, what's it doing here?"

As Vyrel circled around the pillar with the look of curiosity, he found a stone door that leads inside the pillar.

Vyrel tried to open the door but it was too heavy to move.

"Huh? is this stone door challenging me? me? a son of a blacksmith?, just wait and see, you stubborn stone door I'll pry you open!!"

Vyrel looked around for materials that he could use to pry open the heavy stone door, and he found a small vine and a round stone ball.

Vyrel uses these materials to make a lever or pulley system, as he struggled to put the round stone in a crack on the door, he succeeded in opening the heavy door.

BAM!

The door only opened a small gap that only an arm can fit, Vyrel puts on a shrugged look in his face

"Why did it only open this much? if only I had the right materials then i would have opened this stupid door!"

Then the pillar suddenly glowed green and blinded Vyrel

"W-what? arghhhhh!"

Swish!

The stone door suddenly turned into leaves and vines before turning into dust.

"W-what just happened?, where's the door?"

Vyrel took a glance inside the pillar and there he saw a helm with green light flashing in it, on the palm of the ether god statue's hand.

"W-why is there a statue here? and why is it so tall? how am i gonna reach that helm?"

Vyrel ran outside the pillar and collected a bunch of long sticks and vines to make a ladder.

"With this i can reach that helm!"

As Vyrel climbed the ladder almost reaching the emerald helm, his hands hesitated as he touched the last step of his ladder.

"W-why... why are my hands trembling? it's a dream for everyone to own a helm so why am i hesitating? is it because i wanted the crimson helm? but what if I don't find the helm?"

As Vyrel hesitated the ladder suddenly broke down to pieces as the vines suddenly collapsed.

"H-huh? ahhh!!"

BAM!

"Why did it break down? i thought i made it sturdy enough to withstand my weight"

Vyrel struggling to stand from the ground as his body aches from the fall.

Vyrel stared at the emerald helm and said to himself

"This helm isn't something i can use, i live in a desert full of sand and canyons, that helm is of no use to me"

He walked outside the pillar after thinking it through.

Vyrel then sees something on the ground beneath a large boulder right next to the pillar, a sharp steel that seems to be rusty.

"Hmm? what's this? Ohh a knife! this could be useful, although it doesn't have a handle I should make one for a better grip"

Vyrel looked back at the pillar before heading to the lake, not knowing that a gaze was staring at him from the pilar before the green light fades away.

Vyrel then walked feeling exhausted and fatigued for three hours to reach the massive lake that's the color of a pure lapis lazuli.

"pant! pant!" Vyrel catching his breath, "finally I've seen water after that long walk!, wow I've never seen a lake this big before, and the water is so blue"

Vyrel hastily took off his clothes leaving only his pants behind to jump into the lake, he swam for 3 minutes before going back to the ground.

"Man am i exhausted, but that lake is surprisingly cool and my fatigue is almost gone"

Vyrel rested on the shade of a tree just over the lake for two hours.

Before Vyrel left the lake he made a beaker made of wood carved from the knife he found in the forest, and collected water from the lake and store it at the wooden beaker.

Vyrel walked to the west side of the lake to find the crimson helm, not knowing that a fraction of the dimension is disappearing.

Vyrel mumbled to himself

"Man I've been walking since i got here, and I've only crossed one helm and it's not even the one I'm looking for, what a day!!"

As Vyrel walked for 3 kilometers he saw something that resembles a volcano.

"T-that must be where the crimson helm is right?"

Vyrel ran towards this volcano, and as he got closer and closer the ether around him suddenly got denser, far denser than the ether at the emerald helm.

Vyrel suddenly stopped and he felt the ether around him suffocating,

"W-what the? this is way more intense than the ether i felt on the emerald helm, I-i can't breathe!! Th-this isn't just normal heat, it's like the heat itself is inflicting my soul!! I-i need to get away from here!!"

As Vyrel tried to run away from the volcano he hesitated.

"W-what am i being a coward for? i need that crimson helm, even if the gods themselves try to get in my way I will crush them!"

Vyrel who worked up his courage to go further on the volcano, shouted.

"I-i will not back down no matter what!! this heat is nothing compared to my courage!!"

When Vyrel got closer and closer to the volcano, he saw a gate that leads inside the heart of the volcano.

"W-what is that? a gate? what's that doing here?"

He mumbled to himself while mentally exhausted from the sheer aura of the dense ether.

Vyrel walked towards the gate that seemed to be unlocked, glowed a crimson light flashing inside it.

Vyrel saw something on the ground, a piece of crystal that has the color of a steel yet feels like glass, vyrel picked it up and put it inside his pocket.

Vyrel reached the gate and saw something scribbled on the gate itself, but he couldn't understand this written language.

Vyrel walked inside the gate and found yet another statue of an ether god with the crimson helm at the heart of it, but this time it was larger than the emerald one.

Vyrel looked around his surroundings for materials to try making a ladder, but found nothing but stones.

"H-how am i supposed to climb that giant statue without a ladder? Arghhh!! can't the gods make their Statues smaller?"

Vyrel instead used his surroundings as a way to go up to the waist of the statue.

"Argh!! These statues are extremely well built, and how did they make a stone this smooth?, ugh! whatever i need to climb higher!!"

Soon he reached the chest of the statue, but then he felt a gaze that shivers his spine, he looked around and saw nothing.

then he looked up, a statue that was facing forward suddenly looked straight at him.

GAZE!!

"W-what the, why is it looking at me?!!"

Vyrel's whole body trembled before the cold gaze from the statue.

"W-why can't i move? i-i need to climb higher, the crimson is just around my reach! i-i can't give up! i must reach that helm!!"

When Vyrel's hands are inches away from the crimson helm, the cold gaze from the statue suddenly made him lose consciousness.

Vyrel's body falls towards the ground as he loses his consciousness, but before he touches the ground the stone-like crystal on his pocket suddenly glows grey flashing light.

SHING!!!

The crystal vyrel had teleported him in some kind of ancient laboratory, a place filled with rusted gears and crafts from ancient civilizations.

Vyrel woke up and immediately stood up thinking he was still in the volcanoes chamber, but when he looked around there was not a single sight of lava.

"W-where am i? Wait! Did I fail? I-I failed!! this can't be! I've made it so far just to find myself in some lab!! No! I must get that helm!! I must become a strong rider to be able to protect my mother!!"

Vyrel full of anger and sorrow, felt something glowing in his pocket.

The crystal he picked up glowed grey, consumed in anger he threw the crystal on a wall.

This course of action activated a mechanism, a shape that resembles the crystal hiding in this small hidden cabinet.

Vyrel picked up the grey crystal and put it on the shaped hidden cabinet, as soon as the grey crystal fit it suddenly glowed a bright grey light blinding vyrel.

SHINE!!

Vyrel regained his sight and saw the cabinet opening a door behind it, when the door opened he saw a grey helm, but this time it was not in a statue but in a chair that looked like it was made of swords.

SHING!!

"W-what is this helm?"

The dimension suddenly shook as it was crumbling away, Vyrel shocked and ran towards the grey helm and touched it.

immediately after Vyrel touched the helm the whole dimension vanished away, Vyrel suddenly seeing himself in the white blank space with the grey helm in his hands.

"T-this helm! its patterns are very unique, i should try wearing it!"

WEARS!!

Vyrel equipped the grey helm and felt unbearable mental pain.

"A-argh ahhhh! I-it hurts!! it hurts so much!! W-what is this?"
