Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — The Rank That Does Not Exist

The Hunter Guild of Arvelia had never been this tense.

Even S-rank emergencies didn't cause this level of silence.

Yet today—

no one spoke lightly.

Inside a sealed conference room, high-ranking officials gathered.

Screens displayed corrupted system logs.

Every single one pointed to the same anomaly.

[ENTITY DETECTED][CLASSIFICATION FAILED][RANK: UNKNOWN][SYSTEM RESPONSE: UNDEFINED]

A senior officer clenched his fists.

"This isn't a glitch anymore."

Another responded quietly,

"…Then what is it?"

No one had an answer.

Meanwhile—

Kael Veyron stood in the evaluation chamber.

A massive white room designed to measure hunter capabilities.

Walls reinforced to withstand A-rank attacks.

Sensors placed everywhere.

A guild examiner spoke calmly,

"This is just a routine re-evaluation."

"Please release a small amount of your energy."

Kael looked at him.

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then—

"…How much is 'small'?"

The examiner hesitated.

"…Enough for the system to register."

Silence.

Kael slowly raised his hand.

A faint glow appeared.

Dark green.

Barely visible.

The sensors activated instantly.

[Reading energy…][Processing…][Error… Error…]

The machines began to shake.

Lights flickered.

The examiner's voice cracked,

"W-What's happening?!"

Kael lowered his hand.

The aura disappeared.

Everything stopped.

The system screen went blank.

Then—

[WARNING][INPUT EXCEEDS SYSTEM FRAMEWORK][MEASUREMENT ABORTED]

Silence filled the room.

The examiner stepped back unconsciously.

"…That's impossible."

Kael turned slightly.

"…Then don't measure it."

Outside the chamber, observers stared at the monitors in shock.

"This… isn't even S-rank."

"No… it's not even comparable."

Deep underground—

the hidden system reacted again.

"The anomaly has confirmed interaction with measurement systems."

"Conclusion: It cannot be contained within rank structures."

A pause.

"Designation updated…"

"World-Class Entity Candidate."

Above ground, Kael walked out of the chamber as if nothing had happened.

Hunters nearby instinctively moved aside.

No one told them to.

They just… did.

One A-rank hunter frowned.

"…Why does my body feel like it's rejecting him?"

Kael ignored everything.

His phone vibrated again.

Sister:"Are you coming home?"

He looked at the message for a moment.

Then typed a simple reply.

Kael:"Soon."

But just as he stepped outside—

the sky darkened slightly.

A distortion appeared above the city.

Not a Gate.

Not a system error.

Something else.

A voice echoed, not in the air…

but directly in existence itself.

"You have been identified."

Kael stopped walking.

Dark green energy slowly formed around his fingers.

"…Too early."

The voice continued—

cold, emotionless.

"You are not permitted to exist beyond structure."

For the first time—

Kael's eyes sharpened slightly.

"…Then fix your structure."

Silence.

And in that silence—

something began descending.

Not a monster.

Not a hunter.

Something that did not belong to the world.
