Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 — The Thing That Should Not Descend

The sky above Arvelia darkened—not with clouds, but with something heavier.

Something unnatural.

People on the streets slowed down.

Some stopped walking entirely.

An unexplainable pressure spread across the city.

Hunters reacted first.

Weapons drawn. Instincts screaming.

"This… isn't a Gate."

"Then what is it…?"

High above—

space itself distorted.

Like reality was being peeled open.

Kael stood still beneath it.

Watching.

"…So they're sending something already."

A tear formed in the sky.

Not red like a Gate.

Not blue like a dungeon.

Black.

And silent.

From it—

something descended.

It didn't have a fixed form.

Its body shifted between shapes.

Humanoid… then not.

Visible… then fading.

The moment it appeared—

every hunter in the area dropped to one knee.

Not by choice.

"W-What is this pressure…?!"

"I can't move…!"

Even A-rank hunters trembled.

Far away, inside her home—

Kael's sister suddenly paused.

The spoon in her hand fell.

"…Brother…?"

Back at the scene—

the entity finally stabilized slightly.

A vague outline of a figure.

Tall.

Featureless.

Its voice didn't travel through air.

It existed directly inside everything.

"You have violated classification."

Kael didn't respond immediately.

Dark green energy slowly gathered around him.

Soft.

Controlled.

Alive.

"You exist where you should not."

The ground beneath Kael cracked slightly.

Not from force.

But from presence.

"…You talk too much."

Silence.

Then—

the entity moved.

It didn't attack.

It simply pointed.

And reality bent.

A section of space around Kael collapsed inward.

Compressed.

Erased.

Except—

he was still there.

Unmoved.

Untouched.

For the first time—

the entity paused.

"…Impossible."

Kael took a step forward.

Dark green aura expanded slightly.

Not violently.

But enough to change the atmosphere.

"You're using rules."

Another step.

"I'm not."

The air distorted around him.

Like the world was being rewritten to fit his existence.

The entity reacted instantly.

Reality warped again—

multiple layers collapsing at once.

Buildings cracked.

The ground split.

Hunters screamed.

Kael's eyes shifted slightly.

For a brief moment—

they lost all human warmth.

"…Annoying."

He raised his hand.

"Stop."

Everything froze.

Not slowed.

Not paused.

Stopped.

Even the entity.

Even the distortion.

Even the damage in the air.

Complete stillness.

Then—

Kael moved.

One step forward.

Standing directly in front of the entity.

For the first time—

it felt something.

Uncertainty.

Kael looked at it calmly.

"You don't belong here either."

A faint pulse of dark green energy spread outward.

The entity's form flickered violently.

"What… are you…?"

Kael's answer was simple.

"…Wrong question."

His hand touched the entity.

"Return."

There was no explosion.

No destruction.

The entity simply—

ceased.

Not killed.

Not defeated.

Removed from the layer it had descended into.

Time resumed instantly.

The city shook as reality snapped back.

Hunters collapsed to the ground.

"…It's gone…?"

"What just happened…?!"

Kael stood silently.

As if nothing had occurred.

But this time—

people were looking at him.

Really looking.

Fear.

Confusion.

Suspicion.

From a distance, an S-rank hunter whispered:

"…He didn't fight it."

Another responded:

"…No… he overrode it."

Far above—

hidden observers no longer stayed silent.

"The anomaly has escalated."

"It has begun interacting with external enforcement entities."

A pause.

"Threat level…"

Silence.

"Unmeasurable."

Back on the street—

Kael's phone vibrated again.

He looked down.

Sister:"Are you safe…?"

For the first time—

his expression softened slightly.

"…Yeah."

But above him—

the sky did not return to normal.

Because now—

it wasn't just observing.

It was preparing.
