Esther Shaw had always been very kind to Summer Ford. Although she was so shrewd that it was hard to figure out her thoughts, Summer knew that her kindness was genuine.
A sudden remark left Summer momentarily stunned. She stared absentmindedly at Esther in front of her, feeling a warm sensation in her chest.
"Thank you, madam, no need." With a slight pull at the corner of her mouth, her gaze casually shifted away.
"Why are you alone?" Leo scrutinized her from head to toe, frowning like a little adult.
"I'm not a child; do I really need someone to accompany me all the time when I go out?" Summer glared at him playfully.
Leo chuckled at her and, seeing her rather flimsy outfit, wrapped his child's scarf around her neck. "It's autumn already; why not wear a bit more?"
He was only seven, and he had to stand on tiptoe to perform the gesture.
Summer stood stiffly, allowing him to act, her heart filled with a bittersweet sensation.
