Chapter 24 - After the Tragedy 2

The sword was made of a metal that looked a lot like reinforced steel that was the best metal Jack knew, but that sword was lighter than a metal sword and had more strength and was sharper than a metal sword.

Jack didn't know what metal that was, but he had three ingots of that metal inside the chest that could make another sword like this, but Jack knew naturally that this ingot was to maintain the sword if necessary.

Now Jack understood why Tim was always alone in the workshop even after Jack came home sometimes, it was to work on that sword and paint pictures of his mother, it was everything for him that his father spent more time in the workshop.

Jack understood that this was not the time for him to use this sword, he fought most of the time against wild animals and such a sword was not only needed to kill animals, and currently, Jack knew he couldn't fight knights and win, so he couldn't protect that sword from being stolen from him.

Jack thought for a while and put the chain and lock that his father always said was impossible to be broken, Jack took a cart and put the chest inside and took it to the forest, Jack walked for several hours and found a place that he thought it was ideal and took a shovel inside the cart and dug.

Jack made a big hole in the ground and buried the chest inside the hole. He covered the hole again with earth and used his skills as a hunter to cover the tracks that he had dug a hole or brought something in a cart up here.

Jack did this because he would have to leave the village someday and he knew that his house would not always be safe and protected in the village if someone knew that there was a chest in his house and with him, outside the village, some people from the village would surely try to break the chain on the chest and take what was inside it.

So it was better for him to bury it in the forest and if nobody knew what to look for it would be impossible for another hunter to discover this chest by chance and then destroy his lock, so the forest was the safest place to hide these things that Tim left for Jack.

After a few days Jack went to meet Mark and Ron, he had said that he needs a little more than a week to rest and he had already had that time and could accept his father's death much better.

Of course, Jack still suffered from it and would always suffer and he would never forget his father, but he had to continue his life even after his father died, and more importantly, he had to learn more skills with Mark and Ron. bow and sword to get his revenge in the future against the merchant who had his father killed.

Jack now stayed with Mark and Ron every day because he no longer had to help his father in the workshop, Jack didn't even think to open the workshop again because he was not yet a good blacksmith and also because it would be like telling everyone that he was Tim's son and if the merchant found out he would have no way to escape.

But even without opening the workshop Jack still trained his skills as a blacksmith in Tim's workshop, he wanted one day to be able to create swords and armor as his father did and for that he needed experience.

The big hunts continued and the other hunters were sorry to hear that Tim had died, some of them had problems with Tim after what happened to Jack and because they were no longer able to buy things in his workshop.

But they didn't want Tim to die and they were friends with Jack and so they only felt sad when they heard about Tim's death, they promised to keep it a secret that Jack was Tim's son even though Mark and Ron hadn't told them why.

Mark just told everyone to be more careful about what they said to traders because traders were never trustworthy, hunters naturally knew that and would just be more careful with them.

After more than a month has passed since Tim's death, Jack was already used to his current life alone and even though he felt sad when remembering his father's death, Jake could forget, he said a little while hunting.

But fate didn't want to let Jack be at peace, and while he was out hunting for some guards they came in a horse-drawn carriage to his village, in that carriage they had three guards who had shields and their swords.

The streets of the village were not made for passing carriages, so the guards had to leave the carriage at the entrance to the village with the horses strapped in as the traders did, of course, this carriage was not the one used by nobles.

It had four wheels and was not covered, it had a place for two guards to lead the horse in front, in the carriage they left equipment for them to sleep and food, this was actually the carriage to transport prisoners.

The guards entered the city and soon asked where the village leader was, the guards did not have much authority over the members of the villages because theoretically, the villagers were not citizens of the kingdom of Andaria.

But that made the villagers just more afraid of the kingdom guards, that was because the guards could just kill them and no one could accuse the kingdom guards.

As soon as the guards found out where the village leader's house was, they went to Sam's house, they called him knocking on the door and Sam's wife opened the door and was startled to see the kingdom guards."

"Is this the home of the village leader? We are the guards of the kingdom and we came to talk about a crime that may have happened in this village."

"This is the place, you can come in and wait a little while and I'll call my husband."

Sam's wife was quick to call him and tell him because the guards were at his house, Sam went a little pale when he heard that the guards came because of the death of Luiz and his subordinates.

Sam still hoped that Luiz was lying before and that he was not really influential within the capital, so no guard would want to come to a small town to investigate the death of an ordinary citizen.
