But it seemed that Luiz was telling the truth before and the guards came quickly, Sam could not keep the guards waiting for long and after putting on more luxurious clothes he went to the living room to talk to the guards in the capital.
"Sorry to make you wait, my wife said that you said that a crime happens here in my village?"
"Don't you know of anyone who died here in your village?"
"I know something that happened a month ago, but it was a member of my village who was a blacksmith who ended up being murdered, he was the only blacksmith our village had and that happened when the hunters were on a hunt."
"But this was resolved by one of the hunters here in the village, as the situation was resolved I don't know for sure and you would have to speak to that hunter."
The guards did not know that someone from the village was involved in this, it seemed that the situation had gotten more complicated if the men in the capital who have killed someone in that village they would have to deal with this situation differently.
"So where can we find this hunter who knows the situation?"
"He is in the forest on a hunt, but today or tomorrow he must return to the village and you can talk to him."
The guards left his house and Sam almost fell on the floor because he was so nervous, he knew well the situation that had happened in his village, but he thought he owed Jack this favor and wanted Jack to decide to turn himself in and tell what happened to his father.
On the same day that the guards arrived the hunters returned to the village after the hunt and Sam went directly to the village entrance to talk to Jack, this time Jack had again sensed that something was going to happen and he went back to the village alone and saw Sam coming nervous to talk to him.
"Jack, the guards from the capital came, they came to know about some people in the kingdom who could have died here in the village, I made them wait and said nothing, but you will have to speak to them in person."
"Thanks for the favor, Sam, I'm going to confess what I did and give myself up, you can talk to Mark and Ron after they arrive that I appreciate everything they've done for me this past year and that I'll always be grateful to them."
Jack did not expect Sam to have the courage to lie to city guards so he would have a better chance of hiding that he was his father's son and could also try not to be killed for killing three people in the capital.
The kingdom guards were at a village inn and Jack went to talk to them, the inn owner knew Jack and when he heard that he was looking for the guards he let Jack in to talk to the guards.
Jack had left his armor, his bow, and his sword in the hunters' hut and had come to the village with only his ordinary clothes, Jack knew they could be the guards when he had a feeling and didn't want to lose his things.
The guards saw when Jack entered and looked strangely at the young man who had entered the place where they were going to sleep, they thought Jack was one of the staff at the inn because Jack was wearing ordinary clothes.
"My name is Jack, I am one of the hunters in the village and the village leader said that you wanted to talk to me?"
"Are you one of the hunters in the village? Did the village leader say you were hunting?"
"Yes, I just came back from a hunt with Mark and Ron who are the official hunters in the village, I am still learning from them, I left my armor and bow with the other hunters."
"Okay, we came here to ask about some people who could have died here in this village, the village leader said that he only knew of a blacksmith who had died here in the village, the village leader said that he had been murdered and that you knew more about what happened."
"Yes, a blacksmith named Tim died more than a month ago here in the village, he was murdered by three men, these men said here in the village that they were from the capital and their leader said he was a merchant and was looking for Tim."
"It was normal for traders from the capital to come to the village to look for Tim who was a good blacksmith, so these men knew where Tim lived and went there."
"When I arrived at his house to talk to Tim after returning from the hunt, I found him dead, these men had tortured Tim and killed him, but they didn't appear to have stolen anything from his home."
"I was very close to Tim and I chased these men heading towards the capital, after a few days I found traces of three men and moved forward more quickly using my skills as a hunter."
"I found the three who had stopped to make a camp and knew it was they who killed Tim, I took my bow and killed one of them by shooting my arrows."
"The other two were sleeping and so I took my sword and killed them both while they were sleeping, after doing that I went back to the village."
The guards heard everything Jack said without knowing what they would do, they hoped they would have to interrogate Jack or that he would make up a story, they didn't expect him to simply tell the truth about what happened, which was practically a crime.
"So you killed them without asking if they really killed the blacksmith or why did they do it?"
"Yes, I was sure it was them, it was impossible that I was wrong and I still found them.
"I understand, so by the laws of the kingdom of Andaria, we will have to arrest you and take you to the prison of the kingdom of Andaria, even if these three people you killed had actually murdered the blacksmith, they are dead, so the only crime that there is yours."
"I see, I expected this when I killed the three men, but it is our duty as hunters to kill the killers anyway, if we don't do that, we will have several murders in our villages and we will not be able to do anything about it."
The three guards understood what Jack was saying, but their job was to arrest Jack for his murder, what they could do was tell their boss why Jack did it so that Jack would not be killed and would just have to stay a few years in prison.
