Chapter 12 - TOO MUCH RINGING

Nicholas stood up shakily ang looked around him. Everything was fine, but his own self wasn't. He looked outside his balcony and saw that the sun had risen up at the sky and the air had gone humid.

The maze garden was filled with people, his father, Shanara's siblings and some of the guards are scattered in it.

He sank back into his seat and checked himself. He was talking with Shanara earlier and she told him she knew what they are. But how? How did she know? Who else knows? Are we in danger? She also pursued me not to get married with her. Does she know about our plan?

Question after question fired at my brain and I didn't fucking have the hint on what is the answer. I didn't even know what happened to me. All I know was that we were talking here and I was pushing her to marry me and she went wild and I heard bells and my mind went blank.

What the heck?

I gathered myself and focused. I remembered Mirrielle and the day she died. My chest hurt with the thought. No one in this world could replace her in my heart. I didn't believe in reincarnation but I'm willing to believe the unbelievable if it's the only way that we could be together again. If I have to live forever then so be it. I will wait and wait until the last day of the earth.

She was the only one who made me feel like human, who made me more humane, and the one who taught me how to love. Losing her hurt more than being a heartless vampire. A heartless vampire born with a conscience.

I breathed deeply and dabbed on my sweaty forehead. Damn. I can't even remember the last time sweat rolled on my skin. Shanara does crazy things to me. I wonder if the woman is a witch. Sucker. Or maybe I'm the Sucker. I almost smiled at the irony.

Meanwhile Shanara quickly changed her dress into jeans. Her see through dress to be precise, was indeed a sight to see specially on how it hugged her curves. She must have transformed herself during her energy release. Sometimes it happens specially when she's careless. Sometimes. She could only count it with her fingers.

After putting on a jeans and a T-shirt she quickly got out of the room and followed Clover toward the maze garden. It surprised her that they got there pretty quickly. She saw her siblings facing some blooming flowers and inhaling the scent that wafted around the place and even into the palace.

It smelled like heavens. I quickly indulged into the group as they welcomed me and Clover.

"About time you arrived, we we're actually guessing that you got lost." Golden announced.

"You have never been wrong," I answered sheepishly. "Good thing Clover found me though."

Clover just smiled silently and walked toward Mr. Loveland.

"Well, what happened to your dress, I was sure you were wearing a dress earlier." Vivienne asked suspiciously. "You didn't transform didn't you." She whispered the last sentence.

"I did." I answered laughing.

"Wow, try not to be careful next time." Gavin replied and croosed his arms.

"Ey, come on you! We're moving along!" Carlisle yelled waving at us.

We followed them silently as Mr. Loveland was busy describing the different flowers in the maze and how they managed to put a hundred and fifty diffrent kinds of flowers on the gardens. We gave him a gasp or a whoa now and then to show our appreciation. Vivienne was so indulged as she was the one who loved flowers and she was very curious about them.

These flowers were from the different parts of the world and were regualrly changed according to the weather. These flowers are alao transferred to a massive greenhouse a few miles away from the castle during winter were the flowers are taken care of in an operated heating system so they can survive. After the cold weather they are again transported back to the palace carefully, and those sick flowera were either replaced or nursed back to health in the greenhouse until they are healthy enough to be put back in the garden.

I was awed by this but was more awed when I knew that Mrs. Loveland was actually a botanist before getting married to Mr. Loveland. My siblings and I shared secret looks to each other upon realizing this. You never know the power of a botanist. You wouldn't know if a perfume is made of a flower that is poisonous and would just take time to take effect. It depends on how much your lungs could afford to inhale and viola! You have a sudden illness you didn't know where you got. Or when the food that you were actually eating was dabbed with a few flower petals that could choke you to death.

"For sure Mrs. - I mean Mom spends a lot of time in here, right, Dad?" Golden asked Mr. Loveland. I almost grinned when she called him Dad. We hardly call our foster parents Mom or Dad. Not that we're disrespectful, bug just because were used to being business minded. We address our foster parents with their surnames because we are always with clients when we see them.

"Yes, she does darling. In here or in the greenhouse. But now that our Nicholas is getting married, she handed it over to one of our staff so that she can focus to you guys. She doesn't want you to feel left out." he slowed down and faced us. "We will be soon family, and want you to feel loved the way that your parents did." he said smiling.

"She doesn't have to do that, we'll be fine with ourselves, father." Carlisle replied. Calling Mr. Loveland as father were requested by him and Gavin as they liked it better than calling him daddy. I can't help but smile. This is new to us, calling and treating someone as our real parent. And really dangerous because our hearts are vulnerable to parents for we didn't actually met our biological ones. This could easily melt our hearts in a bad and sad way. We need to be careful.

"We know that, but our family is family oriented ina traditional way. We want you to feel important as anyone else in the house." He said while smiling nonchalantly.

"That's so sweet." Golden commented, I felt her emotions swirl around her and I patted her to ease herself. She quickly inhaled and looked at me smiling sheepishly.

'Calm down, we're actually just playing here,' I told her telepathically. She gave a little nod as acknowledgement.

"I smell food though," everybody laughed when Gavin said this. "Mom's over there, look!" He pointed at the end of the maze and saw some maids shuffling here and there and saw a table being set up with food.

"Whoa, are we out of the maze already?" I asked.

"No silly, we're almost halfway though. We just moved some of the secret maze walls to make way for the food." Clover patted my head and chuckled.

"Oooooohh" me and my siblings chorused with awe. The maze walls could be moved? Awesomely dangerous!

We moved closer to the long table which is being filled with food and saw Mrs. Loveland ushering the maids on where to put the food.

I shuddered inwardly when I saw Nicholas standing on the other end of the table. Electric currents ignited in my heart as our eyes met. I inhaled some air and turned to look away.

Nicholas looked at Shanara and his heart tightened for some unknown reasons as their eyes met. She quickly looked away like she didn't see me. For all I know, every other girl gets magnetised when they look at me while this woman manages to ignore me directly.

I heard bells ringing and my heart skipped a beat.

'Dont say a word on what we talked about. Just tell them that we'll be married soon. Nothing else.' Shanara's velvety voice echoed into my ears.

I looked at her but she wasn't talking. Just staring into the food. Did she just telepath? What the fuck?

I almost jumped when see looked up suddenly and looked at me eye to eye. Shit.
