SCOTT POV
Sitting by the shoreline right in front of my villa, I lit my third cigarette and scoffed in disbelief. I laid down on the cold sand watching the stars in the sky. There's still no moon tonight. The moon goddess should be laughing in tears on the other side of the world as she bestow my miserable fate. How could you be so cruel?
Diana, my destined mate and being a doctor at the same time is like a curse on me. Will the imprint become stronger than the anger I've been keeping deep within? I sighed and closed my eyes when suddenly, I sensed danger in the air. I felt uneasy as I clutch on my chest. Is she okay?
So, what? Why would I care?
My mind kept telling me not to go, but then I already found myself walking back to her bungalow. That's how strong the imprint is. On my way there, I furrowed my brows as I notice a figure standing in the dark.
"Christina? What are you doing here?", I asked as she was standing there alone looking tensed.
"Scott! I didn't notice you there. I was just here getting some fresh air", she said nervously.
For real here? "Getting some fresh air, huh? I'll get going then", I said as she grab my arm when I walk past her.
Christina isn't the sentimental type. She'd rather drink with the boys or hang out with her friends if she's feeling down or happy. Never the one who walks in the park, ride horses, or stop to the smell flowers. "Why don't you join me? It would be nice if we walk together, don't you think?", she asked clasping my hand, feeling her tremble. I felt my heart throb faster, then I looked over Diana's bungalow. Something is really not right.
"I'll be back then, I'll just check on something", I said as I try to let go of her hand. But instead, she clasped tightly, snaking my arm.
"No! Let's go, the.. the ambiance is better in that area", she said stuttering as she pointed at the villa.
Is she stalling me? I stared blankly at her figuring out what she's up to. "What did you do?", I asked as I stiffen my body.
She looked at me with those guilty eyes. Shaking her head as if she's trying to bail out without even saying anything. I sent her a maddening aura, just enough to put her to tears. Just enough to drop her to her knees. "Scott… she's not for you. If she dies, the imprint will be gone. Then you and I can be together", she said, as her eyes swell in tears.
I pulled away from Christina. My aura broke her down like a puppy as she cry miserably. I didn't liked how Diana is a doctor, but I never thought of letting her die for me to remove the imprint. I never wished her ill, not even for her to get hurt. I scurried my way towards Diana's bungalow. Sensing a supernatural beast nearby, I shifted to my wolf form, all black with a white spot on the forehead, an hastened over the overwater bridge. As I approach the balcony, I can already smell blood. I strode inside and saw Diana unconscious on the floor. Just then, a black bird flew away from her.
In small pivotal steps, my heart throbbed seeing her in a terrible state. I sighed in relief knowing that she's breathing well. Nonetheless, the rage that started to make my blood boil began to break out all over the place. Bloodied and with her clothes torn, Diana went through hell while I was stuck in my little world of harrowing nostalgia. I sniffed her scent and licked her skin, I can tell Diana fought back in human form.
Why didn't she transformed?
I cursed myself for not being there to save her or protect her. If I didn't left her earlier today, none of this would've happened. Growling in torment, I felt useless as an Alpha... failing to protect his Luna. A different kind of fury enveloped me as I howl for the moon. Why didn't the moon goddess turn my Luna to a ravaging beast and fight decently on her own? I changed back into my human form then carried her tiny body inside her bungalow. I placed her gently on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
I hissed at the fact that I almost lost my delicate Luna. I hissed at the fact that I wasn't there when she needed me the most. I called for the island staff to clean her up, and attend to her wounds. Right after, I went outside and changed to my wolf form again to gather everything that I need to know. Someone has to pay for this, and I won't ever be merciful. The entire balcony is a mess. Diana gave a good fight. I trailed the blood tracks and I'd say, some of the blood was from Diana and some was from the other humans. My eyes darkened as I take a whiff of something different. Somewhat dangerous. And that beast surely left some stench here that's definitely not from a human, nor from a wolf.
AUTHOR'S POV
It's still dark outside when Diana woke up in her bed. Her clothes were changed and her wounds has been treated. However, her body ached as she move. She could hear someone splashing some water on her side, as she attempt to sit up and look."Diana, please don't get up. Take a rest, you are safe now", Emilia said worriedly, as she help Diana lay down. The clairvoyant staff carefully rubbed a white wet towel on Diana's forehead, removing a few more dried blood.
"I'm fine now.. What happened?", Diana asked as she took the towel from Emilia.
"You were attacked a while ago. Your attackers were already detained. They say Ms. Christina was behind of it all. I'm sorry Diana, if only I could tell what the exact danger you could get into..." Emilia sobbed as she narrated with her hands on her face.
Diana was not surprised to hear that Christina is the main culprit of the attack. Love is dangerous, it makes you do stupid things as she recalled. "Please, don't cry. It's not your fault Emilia.", Diana comforted the crying lady, trying to crack a smile. Diana flinched at the sharp pain on her face. Her cheek is still swollen from the firm slap that she got earlier. "And the wolf?", she remembered.
"A what?", Emilia sobbing and wiped her tears with her shirt. She furrowed her brows in confusion, knowing that Diana was found alone in the balcony. No wolves were actually there during the assault.
Diana refused to ask further after seeing how clueless Emilia is. She shook her head with a sharp sigh. "Nothing, can you please help me up? I need to go to the bathroom", Diana said as she reach for Emilia's hand, grunting while she force herself to get off the bed.
"Of course", Emilia just obliged, despite not wanting Diana to stand up. Scott strongly ordered that Diana should only be taking rest in bed until she's all better.
Diana went to the bathroom and shut the door gently. Emilia insisted of going with her, yet Diana wanted some privacy. Thereon, Diana stared at her body in the mirror, gazing at her head wrapped with a bandage. She saw some bruises on her face, on her wrists and a few scratches on her legs. Running her hand on her abdomen, she groaned at the stinging pain from the heavy blow she got from William. She closed her eyes and touched her neck. She felt disgusted remembering how William kissed it. How his large tongue swirled on her jaw to her ear, and how his breath felt on her skin. She tightened her lips into a thin line, as she struggle to look at herself back in the mirror. She took in a deep breath, quivering erratically in inexplicable intense aversion and animosity.
After a while, she remembered Scott. She then sobbed lightly as she sat on the floor. 'I thought he can sense when I'm in danger? He still didn't come', she cried softly. She thought Scott may be a liar after all. Then, she remembered the wolf who came to her aid. It was a black wolf with dark yellow eyes and a scar on its right paw. "They are real", she said hugging her knees.
Meanwhile, Scott returned in Diana's bungalow just when Emilia opened the door."How is she?", Scott asked as he notice Diana is out of bed.
"She's been in the bathroom for half an hour now.", Emilia said worriedly.
Scott walked towards the bathroom door and tried to hear what Diana's doing. He sighed deeply and rested his forehead and fist against the door. 'She's crying', he thought.
"Don't leave her", Scott hurriedly left and shut the door behind him. He badly wants to talk to her with the understanding that he might be her most hated person right now. Maybe, just being with her while she sleeps would be better. Anyhow, Scott just wanted to be with her.
Just when Emilia was about to knock at the bathroom door, Diana opened it and held Emilia's shoulder. "Please help me pack up.", she said.
