In the farmlands of East District 13, on the World Crown, a young girl named Nini, wearing a cotton mask, toiled among the rows of ryegrass.
Just as Nini straightened up to wipe the sweat from her face with a towel, she saw her good friend Shanshan standing right in front of her.
She threw down the small trowel in her hands and rushed over excitedly, embracing her. "Shanshan! What are you doing down here?! I'm so happy! I was just thinking about you yesterday!"
"I missed you too, so I came down. I also brought you a gift: bananas."
Only then did Nini notice the large bundle lying next to Shanshan. A green stalk, taller than she was, was laden with clusters of long, yellow-and-green strips.
"What is this?" she asked, crouching down curiously and pinching one.
"Bananas."
