"What a frustrating day it was today. The rich always consider themselves gods," Edhi said angrily.
"Geez, I am thirty minutes late."
Meanwhile, Alexander Quan, known as Adrienne, had already gotten ready and headed to Quan International Group Ltd.
As he stepped out of the car, every worker in the company held their breath. The ruthless CEO had arrived.
He walked toward the conference room with calm authority, his presence alone enough to silence the entire building. Every employee lowered their heads in greeting as he passed. Alex maintained his usual cold, stern expression—one that could send shivers down anyone's spine, as though he would destroy anyone who dared cross his path.
At the board meeting, fear filled the room. It felt as though the devil himself had taken human form. Even with the air conditioner running, the atmosphere remained suffocating.
While the executives presented, Alex's mind drifted.
That girl.
He could not get her out of his thoughts.
He wanted her. And he would have her by any means necessary.
After the meeting, he returned to his office and called his secretary.
"Get me every detail about the young cub we met earlier."
A faint grin formed on his lips as he leaned back. He chuckled softly, already imagining how easily he would take her.
At Smith Company, Edhi had just begun her first day.
After Quan Group, Smith Company was the second-largest company in the world.
"Miss Edhi Anderson, why are you late on your very first day of work?" the interviewer asked firmly.
"I am sorry, but my grandmother had a heart attack, and it delayed me. Please forgive me," she lied smoothly. She had already prepared the excuse beforehand.
After the interview, she was accepted as an intern and settled into her seat.
Edhi was a young and strikingly beautiful girl. Her forest-green eyes carried a subtle mischief, as though she always saw more than she revealed. Her lips were naturally full, giving her an effortlessly captivating charm that made people glance twice without realizing it.
Her long silver-brown hair was neatly tied into a ponytail, and her figure was graceful and perfectly balanced, soft yet confident, like someone who did not fully belong in an ordinary world. There was something about her presence that felt both delicate and dangerous at the same time, like an angel hiding quiet fire beneath her calm expression.
"Hey, I'm Lucas. I'll be guiding you through the company's design department," a man said, approaching her.
"Hi, Lucas. I'm Edhi Anderson. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Edhi. I hope you're settling in well."
"Yes, thank you," Edhi replied, already uninterested in continuing the conversation.
"So… maybe we could have lunch later? Just to get to know you better?"
"Yes, sure. I'd love to," she said quickly. "But I should get back to work. Thank you."
Lucas smiled slightly as she turned away.
A few hours later, it was lunchtime.
Edhi was searching for the canteen when she suddenly bumped into someone's hard chest.
Wow, he is so cute.
On my first day at work, I'm already meeting handsome men. What a way to start the day, she thought, quietly amused as she stared at the tall figure in front of her.
"Can't you see?" the man said coldly.
"I am sorry," Edhi said quickly. "I kind of lost my way and got confused. I didn't mean to bump into you."
As she lifted her head, their eyes met.
For a brief moment, he froze.
An angel.
Just for a second, his cold expression flickered before returning to normal.
"What is your name?" he asked, staring into her green eyes.
"My name is Edhi Anderson. And you?"
"There is no reason for you to know my name. Just watch where you are going, Edhi," he said through gritted teeth.
"What a rude man," she thought, though a faint irritation lingered. "Yet… somehow cute. My bad."
"Alright, I'll take my leave, mister."
As she walked past him, he turned slightly and whispered under his breath:
"Edhi… what a cute name for a little cub like you."
He immediately ordered his men to gather every detail about her, a satisfied smile forming on his face.
Relax.
I said I would focus on the prophecy, but my desires come first.
Dark thoughts lingered in his mind as fascination slowly turned into obsession.
