Chapter 607 - Chapter 607: Follow, Greet, Wait, Part 4

"Tch... So he was throwing more monsters in here... What an annoying infestation."

He'd gasp out, as he'd try to roll his body around, forcing Schrod to act as his cushion whilst finally dealing his own abuse, his arms raised up and punching into the monster's face over and over while his life was being choked away, all the while Miyashi took his blade and kept peppering him with slash after slash, projectiles to rip him down and strip him to mere flesh and muscles. Even with such lashings, once they crashed to the bottom, Barklode was successful in staying alive as he delivered an elbow to spread the damage to his sides, preventing further pain from occurring across his body, whilst Schrod would be back at the boundary again. If exposed to light, it would most likely perish away after being found and forced to make such a decision of whether he was alive or dead. He'd try to throw Schrod into one of the blaring lights nearby, in efforts to set up that death, before another spell was shot through, one that Miyashi carried as he'd came close and attacked both.

Fusion.

The wafting energy was quick on absorbing into Schrod, letting it pull close before being absorbed into the Skeletal Samurai, hellbent on having Barklode be skewered through with his katana to set him up for another deadly scenario. In his desperation, he'd raise one of his hands and have it be stabbed through as a response, curving the blade during it in order to avoid further damage, while also holding the hilt so he can try to get a clean hit at Miyashi. Schrod, however, was quicker on the draw, an elbow to his face, as well as a palm strike at his chest, making him slightly lose the grip against the blade, but more importantly bought some time to be used in Fusion, as the Samurai was quick on using the card he acquired. Amidst all of this, as well, was for the duo to push him into an open doorway, another monster biding their time until it was right and attempted to lash out. A Massive arm bursting through, a machine in sky blue, its hammer-like appendage ensuring the impact would either break bones at best, or kill him at worst.

And yet, Barklode surpassed it.

Once he saw the machine's arm, he'd leap himself up and timed himself so his legs would be caught on the fist like a platform. While this does damage him, such efficiency made sure he wouldn't be caught unawares, dragging the two's combined efforts alongside, ensuring they get met with a similar end. As it closed in to the walls, the Scientist would try to climb himself up using its open hinges and small gaps, slowly getting himself out of the scuffle, at the cost of his foot smashed through. Moreover, He'd shift his hand somewhat so that, while it would be cut through further and hitting into his arm, he'd set up the duo to be flattened by the same machine. Miyashi was forced to pull the blade back and aim a slash of his own, the combination finally finished, the armor adorning the same dark shade and devilish features, as well as small cat-like ears atop its helm. Its face was able to be more flesh-like, the monocle sported before being adorned as a proper eye, and a wide grin being adorned. One slash, and it was enough to cut through and make a larger gap to hide inside and utilize Schrod's ability. "Persistent creatures, aren't you? No matter... I got out of there alive, so I can dispose of you after finding your summoner." the Scientist mumbled as he'd go through his coat, pulling out a Mask and adorning it so its effects can take hold, violently healing himself through growing such new limbs and stitching his own wounds with his own flesh and muscles.

The Mask of Anatomy.

"Desperate... are we?"

A voice behind Barklode, as a paper fluttered to his side. The Devil himself. "You know, originally I was planning on sabotaging that little project of his if he were to break his contract. I never expected the laboratory to go topsy-turvy, however. So many dead men, all as consequence for the lives they decided to weaponize. It's kind of admirable, if you think about it, taking revenge for being used as mere rats for one's gain."

"I'd humbly request for you to be quiet." Barklode was not wanting to entertain the Devil, yet he still continued.

"And of those markings. By my account, those runes are known as 'the Voice.' Sound, Vibration, things of that nature. I wonder who planted them there. I wonder who was setting up this small coup. That couldn't be right, can it? For someone in your own group to go against your wishes and create a revolution right under your porkish nose."

"It's the brat. Now will you stop trying to entertain theories and leave?!"

"A Brat? You mean... a child did all of this? That's not right..." Such a pause would make the paper fold into a mere square, as if it was confused. Barklode noticed this immediately and turned his attention to it.

"You know something. You know who was also involved in this. You better explain yourself for-"

"Now, now. Let's not spoil our surprise yet. Wyvios is going to be met with this in full swing. You, meanwhile, are at the end of your own rope with beasts beyond your comprehension." The grinds and growls of metal were being made as the arm was being lifted, the paper floating away, leaving the Scientist to his own devices, as a red light peered through the darkness of the empty room. "I'd watch your head, if I were you. Three more are coming from up above. You may want to check in on that."

"...Dahak. I've still yet to see him." Barklode was quick on following the Devil's words as he'd ran ahead and tried to reach for a floor, watching as the machine was bending and breaking the walls to be freed proper, hoisting himself up and keeping a far enough distance from the monster below. Harvard can come later, afterwards. Now, he needs to escort his other ally out of this hellscape.
