Chapter 4: Your Plumber Academia
As the quintet arrived at the cafeteria, hoping to get some food, they were immediately accosted by a short green haired woman, who tackled Izumi into a hug. "Oh, my baby! I'm so glad you're okay!" An ungodly amount of tears streamed down her face as her daughter returned the hug.
"I'm fine, mom, really. Just… tired. Really tired." Izumi's cheeks were rather flushed as her mother showered her with affection in front of the group. She grunted as her mother's embrace began to slightly crush her.
Inko smiled as she let go of her, finally letting her breathe properly. "I'm just… my baby's all grown up now…" She wiped the remnants of tears from her eyes, before turning to the group, holding back her surprise at seeing Mina and identifying her as a Kraaho as well. She bowed politely to them. "Thank you all for helping her back there." She then approached and hugged Uraraka. "And you, that must have been really scary."
Ochako blushed slightly. "Yeah… I was really afraid. Midoriya-san really saved my life back there, it was totally awesome!" She felt a surprising strength in the woman's embrace.
Izumi rubbed the back of her head. "Ah, it wasn't all that amazing… I just saw you in danger, and just kinda moved without thinking. Tyrana and Ceres did most of the heavy lifting." Everyone frowned as she deflected the compliment. "But I was really surprised too. That zero pointer was way larger and more aggressive than I originally thought. And it was different from the picture in the handbook."
Inko seemed to be incensed by that comment. "I swear to God, if any of you had been hurt, I would have pulverised that damn rat!" The teens all shivered at the killing intent the otherwise sweet looking mother let out.
"Mom, please don't threaten your boss." Izumi deadpanned.
"Oh, please, that bastard would have deserved it. I mean, letting a fourth year Executor loose on the entrance exam!" They all collectively dry swallowed.
"What?! That was… Why would he do that?" Izumi gasped, looking at the panicked group beside her. Then the answer seemed to hit her, making it obvious in retrospect. "Ah, everyone… I'm so sorry. He probably wanted to push me, and that got you all caught in the crossfire."
Shinsou and Mina waved her off. "Hey, you're not the one who decided to send that huge thing into the exam. You don't have to apologise." The pink alien said.
"Yeah, and despite all that, you still went out of your way to save me! You all did!" Izumi blushed at Ochako's genuine praise.
"Ah, yeah. Still, you all got caught up in that just because Nezu wanted to test me…" Izumi still looked down with a bit of shame.
"Wait, Nezu… as in the Principal?" Shinsou wondered out loud.
Izumi flinched. "Yeah… he took an interest in me… and my quirk." She admitted.
"Whoa! That's incredible. I mean, your quirk is pretty amazing!" Hagakure chimed in, making Izumi blush. "You turned into that fast thing, and the giant dinosaur, and that rock creature! And that lightning! It was awesome!"
"Ah, yeah… My quirk has a lot of moving parts to it. I call it Unstable Genetics, and I can only access it through my support item. But recently, I unlocked a second facet that gives me a strength boost, along with that lightning." Mina raised an eyebrow at that, but quickly regained her neutral expression as she noticed Inko's pointed look towards her.
"Yeah, it was pretty badass. At one point she turned into an imp thing and made a whole ass bike from scrapped bits of the villain bots!" Shinsou commented, coming off as amused instead of excited due to his tired expression.
"Well, it's great to see my Izumi making friends already. I'm not really supposed to say anything, but the teachers were impressed with your performance." Inko commented.
"Wait, mom, did Kurose-san tell you all that? You could get in trouble with Nezu." Izumi whispered to her mother, but it was easily overheard.
"Izumi, if he really had a problem with me sharing, he would have already shot me with one of the turrets." The teens looked around panickedly, looking for said turrets. Inko started laughing. "Ha, that was priceless. Don't worry kids, the only turrets UA has are at the Barrier." That absolutely did not calm them down. "And no, Izumi, they didn't tell me. I was there myself, though neither me or Toshi were actual judges."
Izumi raised an eyebrow, too focused on the conversation to notice the wide eyes on the other teens' faces. "Wait, I thought only staff were allowed there… Wait, you don't mean?!" She gasped
Inko smiled. "Yup. You're looking at the newest Quirk Science and Biology instructor!" She said, proudly. "Plus, I'd also be a guest lecturer for heroics."
"Midoriya! Your mom's a hero?!" Izumi looked at her mother, slightly confused, as Uraraka exclaimed.
"Underground, yes. I work directly with Nezu at the Desutaru Agency… for some special cases. I go by Orbit, but you can just call me Inko." The teens didn't press on any further. Izumi tried her best to hold her shock. It made sense. Since her mother was part of the Plumbers, she would need an official job. Still, why didn't she tell her back then? "Anyways, I actually came to get Izumi. I'm making katsudon to celebrate her clearing the Entrance Exam." Izumi lit up at that. "But if you're all available, you should come too, I can make more than enough for everyone! And it's been so long since Izumi's had any friends over." Izumi blushed and looked down slightly.
Raising her eyes towards her… friends… she smiled softly. "Uh, you don't have to, but I'd love to talk a bit longer, and mom's cooking is delicious…" The other teens immediately felt her shyness, and Shinsou remembered the conversation they had had on the bus, as did Tooru, who had already been eavesdropping.
"Sure! Thanks for the invitation!" Hagakure immediately accepted.
"I just need to call my guardians, but I'm down." Shinsou also accepted.
"That sounds really fun. I'm Ashido Mina, by the way. Kinda forgot to introduce myself!" Mina said, cheerily.
"I wouldn't want to be a burden…" Ochako hesitated.
Izumi looked downcast for a second. "Y-you wouldn't be a burden, Uraraka. I'd… I'd really like it if you came." She said, shyly.
Ochako relented. "O-okay! Thank you for the invitation."
Inko began leading them towards the Midoriyas' new apartment, close to campus. Inko had insisted they get an actual home instead of just staying at the Plumbers' HQ, just in case something happened like today, and they wanted to invite someone over. "Just make yourselves at home while I go and prepare dinner, okay?" Inko guided the teens to the living room. "Actually, Izumi, Ashido-kun, would you mind helping me set up?"
The other teens raised their eyebrows slightly at the sudden request, but Izumi and Mina immediately knew what it was about, and nodded. As the other three settled on the living room and began making small talk, Izumi, Inko and Mina confronted each other in the kitchen.
"Look, Ashido-kun, I'm sorry for singling you out, but we do need to have a bit of a talk." Inko said as she placed a cube on the table, which began humming. "This is just so nobody will eavesdrop on us. Now, I'm sure you have questions."
Mina suddenly dropped her calm façade. "Of course I have questions!" She whisper-shouted. "She went from a Florauna, to a Kineceleran, to a Vaxasaurian and an alien I didn't even recognise! What the hell even was that?!"
Izumi sighed, raising the Omnitrix to draw attention to it. "I can usually just disguise it as a quirk… but I guess that wouldn't work with an alien… or half-alien, rather." Mina flinched. "Don't worry, Ashido-san. I just wanted to talk to you so we could get our stories straight. I'm guessing you also don't want everyone to know about it." Mina nodded, not quite able to say anything.
"So, the secret's out, I guess. This is the Omnitrix. It possesses a database of pretty much every intelligent species in the galaxy, and some beyond it." Izumi explained, drawing a shocked gasp from Mina.
"The Omnitrix?! I thought it was a myth…" She looked at the device, bewildered.
"It's very real, and I am tasked with keeping it safe." Izumi said.
"Safe from Vilgax." Mina stated somberly, furrowing her brow.
Izumi and Inko widened her eyes. "You know of him?" Inko asked.
Mina looked at the floor, holding back tears. "Yeah. The Kraaho homeworld was conquered by that bastard. My dad was a chieftain… he died trying to hold him back." Her posture broke as she remembered watching her dad leave, not knowing it would be the last time she saw him. She only snapped out of it when she felt herself wrapped up in a hug by Izumi. Mina melted into it, noticing that, somehow, she didn't feel that cold anymore.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Mina…" Izumi held her new friend. "Yes, Vilgax is after the Omnitrix. He's obsessed with its power."
"We know he's close to earth, and his hyperdrive was probably destroyed, but he's managed to cloak himself from our sensors." Inko admitted, clenching her fists. "We'll get him, though, and he'll pay for all the pain he's caused the universe." She promised as Mina continued to uselessly fight back tears.
"Thanks, Mamadoriya." Mina said, inventing a nickname on the spot, before turning to Izumi. "And your secret's safe with me. You're actually the first person connected to aliens that I've met here on earth, Midori."
'Midori?' Izumi boggled at the sudden nickname. "Really? I only know a few myself, but I can introduce you." She smiled, and Mina managed to calm down. "They'll be our senpai if… I mean when we get to UA. I still can't believe we actually passed."
Mina raised an eyebrow. "You have the most powerful device in the known universe and you seriouslythought you wouldn't get in?" She chuckled. Izumi blushed and scratched her neck.
Inko interrupted their conversation. "Well, now that that's all cleared up, I think you should join your friends. Unless you want to keep holding each other like that." Izumi immediately jumped backwards and blushed madly as she realised how close they were. Mina felt the usual coldness set in, missing the contact.
"Come on, Midori. You're so warm… you know Kraaho like it when it's steamy." Mina teased, already completely recovered. Izumi sputtered as Inko chuckled at her daughter's expense. Still, she was very glad that Izumi would already have friends going into UA.
The two girls returned to the living room, where the other teens were having a discussion about heroes. "I mean, I really hope we get Eraserhead as our heroics instructor. With my quirk, I'm kinda locked into Underground work, anyway." Tooru commented.
"Same. My quirk's only really effective if you don't know how it works, so I'm probably going underground too." Shinsou replied. "Plus, I've always admired Eraserhead." He blushed slightly at that admission.
Izumi immediately jumped into the conversation. "Eraserhead's awesome! When I thought I was quirkless, I still wanted to be a hero, so I really admired how he fights essentially quirkless." She said excitedly, letting her quirklessness slip out into conversation.
Ochako chimed in. "Wait, you thought you were quirkless?"
Izumi flushed slightly, fidgeting. "Ah, uh… yeah. Before I got this support item, I couldn't access my quirk at all, and since I have a second toe joint, I was misdiagnosed, since the part of my quirk I can actually use in my normal form required a lot of muscle mass to actually activate." She explained, shocking Uraraka and Mina. "My quirk was only discovered ten months ago, actually."
They all widened their eyes at the admission. "Whoa! So you only had less than a year to train up a completely new quirk, and you're already that good at using it? Sheesh!" Tooru exclaimed, gesturing wildly. "That's awesome!"
"Ah, I had a lot of help with it, really… But thanks, Hagakure-san." Izumi blushed as she accepted the compliment after seeing the invisible girl huff as she tried to deflect like usual.
"Hey, I meant it. And call me Tooru. We're friends, after all. And if what your mom said was true, we could be classmates soon!" Izumi smiled at how expressive the girl managed to be despite her invisibility.
"I can barely believe I actually passed. I thought I would have to do the whole sports festival thing to get in." Shinsou sighed. "And yeah, you guys can call me Hitoshi if you want. Not that fond of my last name anyways."
Izumi blushed and hesitated. "Ah… then feel free to call me Izumi… Ha-Tooru-san, Hitoshi-kun." She stuttered.
"You guys can just call me Mina. I'm not much for ceremony, anyways, and we're all friends!" She said, cheerfully.
"And feel free to call me Ochako too. It was really nice to meet you all, especially since you pretty much saved my life." Her permanent blush marks grew wider.
'Friends… It's been so long. I'm so happy!' Izumi began flooding the living room as tears streamed down her face, while smiling from ear to ear.
Ochako immediately panicked. "Wait, Izumi-chan, why are you crying?!" She fretted, unsure how to comfort her new friend.
"I.. I'm just so happy!" Izumi managed to stop the waterworks. "I never really had any friends before… nobody wanted to associate with the quirkless kid." Everyone piled onto a hug pile at her admission, though Hitoshi hesitated, succumbing to peer pressure eventually.
"I know what that's like." Hitoshi commiserated. "Before my guardians took me in, nobody would even talk to me. Those bastards at the foster home even kept me muzzled because of my quirk."
"What?! That's absurd? How could anyone do that?!" Hagakure protested, joined by the others.
"Agh! Bullies are the worst!" Mina shouted angrily. "People always gave me shit for my mutant traits. There were even some religious nuts who said I was some kind of demon because of my quirk!" She added in.
"That's horrible! You're so pretty, Mina!" Izumi commented, only to immediately blush as her brain caught up with what she said. "I… I'm sorry, I…" She stammered.
That immediately led to the rest of the teens giggling, except for Hitoshi, who just ginned and exhaled through his nose. "Ah, I'm pretty, am I?" Mina teased once again, and Izumi went catatonic.
"Mina, I think you broke her." Ochako giggled, though she felt a slight weight in her heart as she heard Izumi complimenting the pink girl.
After Izumi recovered, she looked at Hitoshi and Mina. "I just… I don't understand how some people can treat others that cruelly. Hitoshi-kun, if you don't mind me asking, what is your quirk?"
Hitoshi fidgeted for a second, but decided that these people were probably trustworthy, since they had gone through similar experiences. "Well, If I ask a question and somebody responds, I can take control of their mind and give them commands." He explained. "But I would never use it on anyone who isn't a villain!" He quickly added.
"Wow, that's a super useful quirk!" Hagakure commented cheerily.
They then noticed that Izumi had somehow produced a notebook from thin air and was scribbling madly. "Verbally activated mental takeover. Does it have to be a verbal response? Would a simple noise or grunt suffice, or only an actual answer? Does it even have to be a question? Does it only work on one target? Or multiple? Is there a limit to the amount of people controlled? Can someone break out of it? It could be used in so many situations. Effectively disables any villain caught by it instantly, without a fight. Perfect for hostage situations and overwhelming foes." The teens just looked at her awed as she spit out words faster than they could process. She then seemed to snap out of it and looked at the group, blushing. "Sorry, I just really love quirk analysis."
"Wow." Mina said, rather dumbfounded. "That's awesome. I could barely keep up! How long have you been doing that?"
Izumi scratched her neck nervously. "As long as I can remember. I still have my first notebook from when I was four. I like to skim through it every once in a while, to see how far I've come." She admitted, sheepishly.
"Damn, girl, are you some kind of genius? Does your quirk come with some kind of intelligence boost too?" Hagakure asked.
Izumi felt a bit of sweat forming on her forehead. "Ah, no… I just have a pretty good memory, so I found it really easy to notice some details about quirks and fighting styles. And I've always been a bit of a Hero nerd. My faves were always All Might and Eraserhead." Tooru and Hitoshi nodded as she acknowledged their favourite hero as well.
"Yeah, All Might's awesome. I don't really know all that much about Eraserhead, but my favourite was always Thirteen. I've always really loved everything about space and physics. I guess that's mostly because of my quirk. Space is just… so amazing! Sometimes I find myself staring up at the stars and wondering what's out there, you know?" Ochako said cheerily. Izumi and Mina felt their hearts racing with adrenaline as they began sweating profusely.
"What, you mean like extraterrestrial life?" Hitoshi asked. "I mean, the galaxy's huge, so it could be possible." Mina shot Izumi a desperate look. "But I doubt we'd have any contact with them. Distance between stars and all that."
"Yeah, but it's fun to think about." Ochako blushed slightly. Izumi and Mina choked out nervous smiles, their bodies completely stiff. "But yeah, I love Thirteen. I hope we have classes with them at UA! Nobody even knows what they look like, or their gender. I really wanna find out!" She fangirled, and Izumi went from extremely nervous to stifling a giggle.
As if on cue, the front door opened, and Kurose Anan walked in, stopping as they saw the gathering in the living room. "Oh, hi! Inko didn't say we'd have company." They stated, a smile on their face. "It's nice to see you made some friends at the Entrance Exam, Izumi."
"Ah, thanks, Anan-kaa-san. Mom's in the kitchen, if you wanna chat." Anan nodded, taking note of Mina for a moment who waved at her cheerfully.
"Whoa, another Mamadoriya!" The pink alien said, giggling.
"Well, not officially, but we've been together for a bit…" Anan blushed. "Anyways, what were you guys talking about? I saw what Nezu pulled at your exam, and honestly, if Inko hadn't threatened the rat, I would have." The teens all chuckled as they saw a repeat of the Mama Bear routine.
Tooru decided to chime in. "Oh, we were discussing favourite heroes. Me and Hitoshi love Eraserhead." Anan nodded, smiling. "And Ochako here is a total Thirteen fangirl." They seemed to choke on air, before letting out a laugh.
After they recovered, Anan said, flushed. "Ah, then I guess you're aiming to be a rescue hero?" Ochako nodded. "That's great, they're always in high demand! A lot of heroes nowadays only care about fighting villains and showing off." They complained. "Still, word of advice, don't neglect combat training. A lot of rescue operations can go awry if a villain shows up and the heroes present aren't properly trained for combat." Ochako nodded, looking deep in thought. "Well, I'll get out of your hair. Have fun!" They waved as they made their way to the kitchen.
"She's really nice!" Ochako cheered. "But your Mom's so short, and you're so tall. Kurose-san is pretty tall, but that wouldn't explain it…"
Izumi's eyes darkened for a moment. "Yeah, it's mostly to do with my quirk, but apparently my sperm donor was really tall as well. But I don't want to talk about that asshole."
They all dropped the subject, but not before Mina made an amused expression. "Holy shit, the cinnamon roll cussed!" She laughed, joined by the rest.
"What? I've cussed before, though." Izumi replied, amusing her friends further.
"Yeah, but you're so shy and cute, so that gap in demeanour was really funny!" Tooru added, giggling. Izumi huffed.
"You guys!" She blushed, but somehow she enjoyed the good natured teasing.
They quickly exchanged contact information, and set up a group chat so they could keep in touch before UA. Dinner was finished, and they were all served a large bowl of katsudon. "This is delicious, Ms. Midoriya! Thank you so much for having us." Ochako gushed.
"Oh, it's no problem, dear. I love cooking, and seeing my Izumi having fun with friends is reward enough." Inko replied.
Mina, always interested in romance, looked between her and Anan. "So, how'd you two meet?" She asked without hesitation.
Anan once again blushed while Inko looked at them fondly. "Well, it's a simple story really. When I had Izumi, I was married to an absolute idiot." She said, the fondness briefly draining from her voice. "He left after Izumi's misdiagnosis, and before that he pretty much forced me to be a housewife." The other girls and even Hitoshi frowned at that. Now they understood why Izumi hated her 'sperm donor'.
"After that, I immediately returned to my old job at the Desutaru Agency, but Nezu gave me the condition that I help him teach a special elective at UA." She paused as the teens gasped, amazed. "Actually, some of you might be scouted for that class after the sports festival." She winked, and Izumi looked surprised, looking at the group, and finding herself agreeing with her mother. They'd make pretty good Plumbers, with their range of abilities.
"Anyway, that just happened to be where I met Anan. They were a really promising student, and after they graduated, we became fast friends… and it just evolved from there." Anan was beet red at that point.
"Whoa, a forbidden relationship between student and teacher." Hagakure mumbled, making Mina laugh.
"Well, we wouldn't get into an actual relationship until much later. I was with… someone else at the time…" Inko said, cupping her face with her hand. "But there is a bit of an age gap, I suppose."
Ochako smiled. "I think it's sweet! After that… situation… it's nice that you found someone again, Ms. Midoriya." Inko smiled softly. The girl then turned to Kurose. "But Kurose-san, you're a hero too? What's your hero name?" She asked excitedly.
Anan grinned, remembering their previous conversation. "That's a secret, Uraraka-kun." They winked.
Ochako pouted, but didn't press further. "Hey, if we're all done, how about some mochi for dessert?" Inko suggested, which immediately made Ochako start salivating.
"Izumi-chan, your mom's the best!" Izumi snorted along with her mother at the girl's absolute excitement over the prospect of mochi.
They left soon after, not wanting to miss their respective trains. Afterwards, Izumi hugged her moms and went to bed, though she stayed awake for quite a bit, chatting with her new friends, scarcely believing how much had happened in a single day. Still, she eventually collapsed, the exhaustion finally catching up to her.
—
She received her acceptance letter about a week after the exams, as had all of her friends. She found it strange that they had sent a letter instead of just a regular email. During that week, All Might had gone silent, which at first worried her, but her mother had explained that both of them were doing massive amounts of paperwork in preparation for becoming staff.
She finally understood why they had sent a letter when she opened it and a projector popped out, showing All Might in front of a gaudy backdrop. "BOOYAH! I am here, as a projection!" She stifled a laugh at his campiness. "Sorry for disappearing like that, but as I am sure you were made aware, you're looking at the newest faculty member at UA! I swear, Nezu's made me do so much paperwork…" He deflated slightly, only to look to the right of the screen. "What? Who's showboating? Fine, I'll get on with it!" Izumi snorted at her mentor's antics.
"Young Midoriya, as you may have figured out, UA switched up its grading method this year, especially for heroics. Let's start with your support exam. You scored full marks on the written exam, an incredible feat in and of itself. Congratulations. In the interview portion, all three judges were exceedingly impressed with your work, giving you full marks. Lastly, for the practical support exam, Power Loader personally praised your work and ingenuity, as well as the thorough consideration you displayed with your project, once again earning you full marks. Also, I'm told he found Jurryrigg quite amusing." Izumi stared in awe as she saw a perfect score on the exam. "Izumi, I am proud to say you came tied in first place in the Support Engineering Research and Development exam, with an immaculate score, no less. Incredible."
Then, a screen appeared behind him, showing clips of her Heroics test. "Now, onto your Heroics Practical exam! Once again, you proved to be a cut above the rest, Young Midoriya. The heroics exam was divided into four scores. First was the written exam, which, again, you maxed out." The projection showed a golden 250 on the screen. "Then, there were the Villain and Civilian points. Again, you exceeded all expectations. A few examinees managed to max out one or the other, but only you scored once again a perfect score on both!" Two more golden 250s appeared on the screen. Tears of joy began streaming down her face. "That enough would have unquestioningly earned you a top spot. But there's more!" The screen showed select clips of her working together with other students, helping them and cooperating to take down villains and rescue civilians. It ended with her climactic battle with the Zero Pointer. "What kind of hero course would this be if we didn't watch out for heroic behaviour from our examinees? Your selfless acts, putting yourself in the line of fire to help others, especially that last stunt with the Zero Pointer, earned you 250 points in a secret category: Hero Points! Young Midoriya, you have secured yourself first place among your peers, and set an absolutely perfect record for both your courses. You will be placed in class 1-A. Don't worry, your friends will be there too." All Might winked. The hologram then showed a ranking for the hero course, her name in a red and gold border, with the number 1 adorned with a crown.
Below it, she saw the names of her new friends. Mina was in second, scoring nearly as high as she did in the practical, but suffering in the written exam. Her score was just above eight hundred and fifty. Ochako was third, two points away from Mina. A girl named Kirishima Eiko took the fourth spot. Mina had mentioned her once or twice before. Apparently they had been friends since middle school. She spotted Hagakure and Shinsou close together, just shy of the top 10. She couldn't help smiling as she saw the two, who were quite nervous about passing, reaching such a high score.
Then, looking at the thirty fifth spot, Izumi nearly lost it. There he was, Bakugou Katsuki. He had also maxed villain points and came just five points short of a perfect written test score. However, his pitiful amount of civilian and hero points had absolutely tanked his placement. She felt a bit vindicated, seeing the results. Bakugou had always lorded his power over others at Aldera. Everyone said he was destined to take the number one spot. And now, he had barely even gotten in.
Izumi could barely stand, overwhelmed with emotion. All Might returned to the screen. "Izumi, I am so, so proud of how far you've come. I can't show favouritism, but know that you're the best protegé I could have asked for. Now, go forth, Young Midoriya. Welcome to YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!" Before the video cut off, he said quietly and fondly. "Congratulations, Izumi." The projection cut off and the device suddenly self-destructed, making Izumi coughed as she tried not to breathe in the smoke.
Inko and Anan entered the room, only to see their daughter crying profusely in front of an exploded projector, a smile on her face and her eyes brimming with joy. Izumi looked at her moms, an unmoving smile on her face. "I-I got first place! I… I did it!" She was immediately tackled into a hug by Inko, also crying profusely from sheer joy. Anan, though with a more subdued reaction, also hugged her soon to be stepdaughter.
After getting her bearings, Izumi opened up the group chat.

Zero Pointer Elimination Squad
GreenMight: DFALKSJFLDAJKSFJ WE GOT IN!!!!
AlienQueen: Holy shit, Midori, way to wreck the curve!
PlanetMochi: I can't believe I got third place! Skahdfaksdf
PlanetMochi: But yeah, Izumi-chan, way to go!!
AlienQueen: She's already super strong, but she also maxed the written exam??? That shit was haaard!
InsomniCat: Holy shit… eleventh place… I can't even…
Invisalign: True that. Those civilian and hero points really came in clutch!
GreenMight: But you guys got quite a few villain points, too! Don't sell yourselves short!
Invisalign: Pot, meet kettle.
PlanetMochi: Also, Thirteen did the presentation for me, that was insane!!! I'm so looking forward to meeting them!
Izumi snorted at that comment.
Invisalign: Eraserhead did mine! Hitoshi, you look like you could totally be his son! LMAO
AlienQueen: LMAO
InsomniCat: I swear to GOD!
GreenMight: Well, the resemblance is uncanny. Considering that he's married to Present Mic, it's even more of a fit, considering you also have a voice quirk.
Invisalign: WHAT?!
PlanetMochi: WHAT?!
AlienQueen: WHAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!
InsomniCat: … How the FUCK do you know that?!
GreenMight: Mom told me. Also, they have the same wedding bands on their fingers.
AlienQueen: Midori sifdaksldfalksjadf
PlanetMochi: I honestly fear for the wellbeing of anyone who ever gets on her bad side.
GreenMight: Guyyyyyys. Why?
InsomniCat: Well, I guess there's no sense in hiding it, but they are my legal guardians. Well, they were until I turned eighteen. Now they just keep me around like a cat. Got me out of a terrible foster home.
GreenMight: Wow! That's awesome. Sorry it took so long, though. Must've been tough.
InsomniCat: Well, it's all in the past. Aizawa-san and Yamada-san put me through hell in training, but they're genuinely caring. Though when I heard I got into 1-A I kinda panicked.
PlanetMochi: Why? I also got into 1-A!
AlienQueen: Me too!
Invisalign: Me three!
GreenMight: Me four!
InsomniCat: Well, Aizawa's the homeroom teacher for our class.
GreenMight: Shit.
AlienQueen: Oh, no the cinnamon roll cussed again!
Invisalign: Why are you worried? That sounds awesome!
GreenMight: Well, he's really tough, and has high expectations. Last year, he expelled his entire class in the first week alone.
AlienQueen: WHAT THE FUCK?
Green Might: To be fair, he re-enrolled some of them, and the rest got bumped to other courses. There were only, like, four actual expulsions.
InsomniCat: He's a hardass, but he genuinely cares. He was talking to Yamada-san after he expelled his students, and I overheard him say that he expelled the ones who didn't seem to be taking heroism seriously. He told me he never wanted to see a student die if he could help it.
Invisalign: Oh, shit. I can't even be mad, then… Kinda makes sense.
AlienQueen: Sucks… but I get it.
InsomniCat: Yeah, apparently he and Yamada-san were friends with another guy at UA, but he died during their second year work studies.
GreenMight: Holy shit. I can't even imagine what that would be like. And I hope I never have to.
PlanetMochi: Wow… this got really dark. Still, Izumi, Mina who did your acceptance messages.
AlienQueen: Ms. Midoriya did mine LOL
Invisalign: Kek
PlanetMochi: LMAO
GreenMight: … It was All Might…
AlienQueen: What the hell, Midori! You ace the exam, and get All Might to deliver your results! That's insane!
InsomniCat: Why did he even do an acceptance letter for UA, though?
GreenMight: Well, this is supposed to be a secret, but he's joined the UA staff, along with my mom.
AlienQueen: SLKDGJSLJDASLKJDGSLJFA
PlanetMochi: … Izumi, I think being your friend is going to completely warp my sense of normalcy.
Invisalign: Same
InsomniCat: Same
Izumi huffed.
GreenMight: Bruh.

The UA professors had gathered right after the entrance exam, to discuss classroom placement. "Very well, Ladies, Gentlemen, and those in between. It's time for us to divide the classes for the first year Heroics department." Nezu announced the selection. Aizawa Shouta and Kan Sekijirou, the Blood Hero: Vlad King, stepped forwards toward the table in the centre of the room. "Before we begin, we have a few special cases. After a potential incident with tampered student records was brought to my attention, I have conducted an investigation and found that two potential students should be placed on academic probation." The chimaera stated.
Midoriya Inko stepped up next to Nezu and pointed out the two files. "The first case was Bakugou Katsuki." The rage in her voice was palpable, barely concealed under her kind façade. "He has a history of assault and bullying, along with illegal quirk use. He had also attended a school that we also found to have ties to the new Meta Liberation Army, which the Desutaru Agency will promptly shut down after our investigations conclude. I believe that his behaviour might stem from quirk supremacist indoctrination." She explained, shaking with anger, but trying to be impartial. The other staff flinched at the mention of the villainous terrorist organisation long thought disbanded.
Nezu nodded. "Despite this, he has expressed a desire to be a hero. My personal student, a victim of his, also personally asked me to allow him in, to give him a chance at redemption." Aizawa scoffed, as did Kan.
"Sir, if I may, his performance in the practical exam clearly shows that he lacks essential qualities for hero work. I quite vividly remember him straight up leaving a civilian bot to 'die' from its wounds." Kan argued.
"Indeed, but that's exactly why we should attempt to reach out to him." Nezu stated. "His over inflated ego, the result of villainous indoctrination, I might add, might lead him to becoming an outright villain if left to his own devices. Thus, I suggest he be placed into academic probation. Three strikes and he'd be out. Plus, mandatory therapy sessions with Hound Dog, and extra lessons on Ethics and Hero Law" Aizawa sighed as his discipline was cited.
"That being the case, We suggest placement in 1-B." Kan nearly choked with rage.
"What the hell? Doesn't he have issues with using his quirk destructively and casually? Isn't that Eraser's specialty?!" The Blood Hero attempted to push the burden onto his coworker.
"Well, usually, that would be true, but this time we have a special case." Nezu explained. "His main victim, my personal student, has a very volatile quirk she is still learning to control. She is a very late bloomer, and needs a support item to use most of her quirk at all. As such, I believe Eraserhead would be most suited to aid her."
"The girl who destroyed a tier IV Executor? She seemed pretty competent to me… Screw me over, why don't you?" Kan grumbled, dreading the beginning of term already. "Fine, I'll take the Ticking Time Bomb." He relented with a sigh.
"Good. Because if that's the case, you'll be taking the other one as well." Kan slammed his fist on the table.
"Why the hell would I do that?!" He asked, outraged.
"Mineta Minoru, our second case, had a rather decent score, and secured his place on the heroics course, if barely. However, a thorough investigation of his record also showed evidence of tampering. Namely, dozens of cases of sexual harassment and assault, dating back to his middle school. Unfortunately, his family is part of several school boards, including, unfortunately, our own." Nezu's eyes glinted with predatory intent. Midnight bristled at his words.
"So we have a serial harasser and potential rapist who's backed by powerful people. Disgusting." She spat.
"Exactly, Kayama-kun." Nezu responded. "And since we are being forced to accept him, for the time being, and Midoriya-kun has been placed into 1-A, in order to avoid any incident that would harm our precious future heroines, we will put all of them into 1-A, leaving the two troublemakers in 1-B." Kan looked absolutely harrowed by the news.
"I quit." He and Eraserhead said in unison, drawing a snorting cackle from the Dean.
"Requests denied." He then looked at the blood hero. "Just think about how good it'll feel when we do get rid of that perverted little grape!" The light seemed to return to Sekijiro's eye as he paused to imagine the scene.
"Fine. I'll do it. But I'm already regretting it." Kan huffed. And so, with the majority of class 1-A already decided, they finished their selection rather quickly.

A month passed in a flash, and Izumi found herself eagerly packing her things for move-in day at the UA dorms. She had decided to bring just a small part of her All Might collection, along with merch from other heroes. She still loved All Might, but since she spent so much time with the man behind the smile, she stopped idolising him so much, now giving more attention to other heroes as well.
She fidgeted with the Omnitrix as she got distracted. After unlocking her Kraaho transformation from Mina, which had really excited her pink friend, she had reached 35 total transformations. That was until she heard a beeping noise from her watch. "Command recognized. Downloading Playlist…." She widened her eyes. "DNA unlocked: Aerophybian, Biot-Savarian, Gliminopythecus, Nemuina, Incursean, Hylian Zora, Hylian Rito, Hylian Gerudo, Hylian Goron, Hylian Zonai."
Izumi stared at the watch, wordlessly. Of the species she had unlocked, five of them were complete unknowns to her, and that frankly baffled her. Five species, seemingly from the same planet or system, none of them in the species database she had read front and backwards. She felt her pulse quicken as excitement built in her core. It had been so long since she had dealt with such an unknown. She looked at the Omnitrix with wonder in her eyes.
"Izumi, you okay in there? Ready to move into the dorms?" Her mother knocked on the door.
Izumi shook herself out of her curious trance. "Yeah, mom, I'm done. I just unlocked ten new forms… Somehow."
Inko barged into her room as soon as she heard that. "What? That's great, and just in time for the new Term!" She hugged her daughter. "But… why so many? Usually you unlock them one by one…" Inko frowned.
Izumi scratched her cheek, blushing. "I was… fiddling with the Omnitrix without paying it much attention, and I apparently put in some kind of command…"
"Well, I would avoid messing with it too much, or you might set off some kind of self-destruct mode… What forms did you get?" She asked, smiling from ear to ear as she changed the subject.
"Well, I unlocked the DNA for Aerophybian, Biot-Savarian, Gliminopythecus, Nemuina, Incursean… and the rest… they aren't in the plumber database." Inko widened her eyes at that.
"What?! How?" She boggled.
"Well, I read the whole thing, and the other samples aren't in it. Never heard of a Hylian Gerudo, Zora, Rito or Goron, and certainly never heard of a Zonai." Izumi could barely keep from jumping up and down. Inko looked deep in thought.
"I don't recognize them at all… but Hylian… why does that sound familiar?" Inko mumbled. "I'll have to ask Nezu. But for now, let's get your stuff into the car." Izumi jumped into action, hoisting her luggage with just a small percentage of One for All, not even enough to trigger the lightning. She had discovered that so long as she used half or less of her full power, there were no visual indicators of her quirk activating, which would be really helpful for stealth, since she would no longer be producing a light-show.
In just a few minutes, she was standing in front of the Heights Alliance dorms, which had 1-A carved onto the front of the building. Her mother gave her a brief hug, followed by her famous waterworks. As she walked back to her car, she looked back at her daughter, who was still looking at her with a few tears in her eyes. "Izumi… you look so cool." Her daughter smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of her head.
Izumi breathed in, and with a confident step she breached the threshold, taking her first steps into her new residence for the next four years. The common room was empty of people, but she quickly found a notice board with the room assignment. It seemed she was placed in dorm 205. She took the keys from the holder and promptly set herself up. The dorms provided a bed and some sheets, a desk and some drapes, so all she really needed to do was set up her decorations, which she could always do later. For now, she wanted to meet with her classmates, before their meeting with their Homeroom Professor, which he had emailed them about yesterday, asking them to be here by 10:30.
Izumi went back to the common area and sat herself down on the couch. She had organised her clothes and put on some exercise gear, as she had already heard of Aizawa's notorious Quirk Assessment Test.
She looked at her notifications and saw that most of her friends were already on their way. She smiled, excited at the prospect of a new beginning. She then heard the doors opening and a tall girl with pristine posture and long black hair entered. 'She looks like a princess.' Izumi immediately stood up to greet her, then noticed a full team of men with suits carrying a large bed and luggage. "Hey, uh, hello!" She switched to a more polite speech. "I was going to ask if you needed help setting up, but I see you have that handled." Izumi smiled.
The girl seemed a bit surprised by her approach. "Ah, thank you for offering. Actually, is there a room assignment?"
Izumi nodded. "There is. I'm Midoriya Izumi, nice to meet a fellow classmate!" She blushed a bit. 'So beautiful. No, bad Izumi, not the time to be a massive lez.'
"Likewise. My name is Yaoyorozu Momo. I know it's a bit of a handful." She replied sheepishly, secretly hoping that Izumi wouldn't recognize her name. She naturally did, but didn't make any comment.
Izumi turned to the board and fished out a key. "Ah, here, Yaoyorozu-san. Room 204. Looks like we're neighbours." She beamed, making the heiress blush slightly.
"Ah, thank you Midoriya-san. My men will help me set up, and I will be down shortly." Izumi found her prim way of speaking rather endearing. Her sparse use of contractions reminded her of her Revonnahgander transformation, Riya Zumi. She had decided to give the form a normal seeming name for the species, based on her own name. She had checked, and apparently Mido was a cuss in their language.
The next to arrive was Shinsou, who greeted her with a fistbump. "Hey, Izumi, all set up?"
"You bet. I haven't put anything up yet. I'll probably do it after the QAT." He nodded at her reply.
"Same. I don't really have much anyway, so I'll mostly just hang up my clothes and set up my stuff on my desk." He said. "I'll be right back." She nodded.
While Shinsou set up, two more classmates arrived. "Midori! Hey girl!" Mina waved from the entrance.
"Hey Mina! Looking good! New coat?" She noticed her friend wearing a rather gaudy piece that strangely felt pretty natural considering her overall appearance. It was hot pink, with fur accessories dyed teal.
"You know it! Gotta make an impression!" The pink alien grinned cheekily. "You like it?" She asked, pushing her bust out slightly.
Izumi approached the pair, taking note of the girl with spiky red hair next to her. "It really suits you, Mina." The alien felt a tingle down her spine as Izumi said her name in a lower register than usual. She then turned to the other girl. "You must be Kirishima-san, right? Mina talks about you a lot!"
Kirishima smiled, revealing sharp teeth. "That's right, and you must be Midoriya Izumi. Krishima Eiko at your service!" She had to look up a bit to meet Izumi's gaze, though she was taller than the average girl. "Mina told me about the Zero Pointer. You're really manly, Midoriya-san!"
Izumi looked taken aback and frowned, crossing her arms. "Excuse me?"
Eiko immediately backpedalled. "Ah, I mean, manly like, really brave, not letting fear stop you, no regrets, you know?"
Izumi's harsh look and posture immediately loosened. "Ah, you're a Crimson Riot fan. Sorry for getting all defensive."
Eiko waved her hands placatingly. "Ah, no that's my b. Yeah, I really like Crimson Riot, his whole philosophy really inspired me when I had my doubts about being cut out for heroics." She said, blushing slightly.
"Yeah, I get it. The fear. First time I saw a villain, I froze up too." Izumi admitted, remembering her first encounter with the sludge villain.
"Still Mina told me how awesome you were. I mean, crushing that huge Zero Pointer into scrap!"
Mina chimed in. "You did pretty good too, Kiri! Fourth place is nothing to sneeze at!" She then looked at Izumi. "And when you're talking to Kiri, manly just means good, and unmanly means bad."
"Sure, again sorry for getting all hostile. I know I'm tall, and kinda buff, and not that feminine, but I really don't like getting called a man." Izumi explained, both of the shorter girls nodding. "Do you need any help setting up?" She offered, noticing that their collective luggage was all piled onto Eiko. Izumi narrowed her eyes at Mina briefly, who smiled, a bit embarrassed.
"Please. And I kinda know what that's like." Kirishima added. "I'm more of an anatomical diagram of muscles than a girl." She joked. Izumi smiled slightly, liking the attempt by the cis girl to empathise with her.
"Great, let's get you two settled!" By the time the three came down, both Momo and Hitoshi were already there, though too awkward to make any conversation. "Hey, you two. All set up?" She looked at Momo, who was heating up a kettle in the kitchen.
"Yeah. Gonna try and take a nap before the QAT." Hitoshi yawned.
"Ah, yes, I have finished arranging my room, though it is rather smaller than I initially believed. Thank you, Midoriya-san." Momo flashed a dazzling smile, which made Izumi's heartbeat quicken and her compression shorts tighten, much to her dismay. "I was brewing a pot of Darjeeling tea. Would you all like some?"
Mina whispered to her two friends. "She's like a princess." The other girls nodded.
"Sure, we'd love some. Thank you, Yaoyorozu-san." Izumi approached the kitchen with a cheerful expression. "These are Ashido Mina and Kirishima Eiko. I met Mina at the Entrance Exam." Momo widened her eyes slightly at the mention of it.
"Well met. I'm Yaoyorozu Momo. It's a pleasure!" She said cheerfully, glad to finally be making some potential friends her own age, who weren't just interested in her as the heiress to Yaoyorozu Enterprises. "Forgive me, but I've heard some pretty outrageous rumours about the Entrance Exam. I wasn't there, because I took the Recommendation Exam, but I heard that UA put a massive robot designed for fourth year students into one of the testing sites, and someone managed to completely destroy it. I mean, that couldn't possibly be true, right?" She asked, wanting to dispel the rumour in her mind.
Izumi immediately went beet red and Mina grew a teasing smirk on her face. She extended her arm so she could drape it over Izumi's shoulder. "Well, you see, this green bean did in fact crush a giant robot at the Exam." Izumi whined, covering her face, wondering when they would stop talking about that. "She used her quirk to transform into a giant rock form that can control gravity, and she collapsed the robot onto itself. All to save another classmate of ours. It was totally sweet!" Ashido cackled.
"Oh my. That's very impressive! So your quirk allows you to transform and control gravity?" Momo asked, seeming intrigued.
Izumi felt the heat across her face die down a bit. "Ah, kinda, it's a bit more involved than that. Ceres is one of my transformations, one of the strongest ones, actually." She said. "I can explain it while I prepare some breakfast. We'll need the energy for the QAT." She stated absentmindedly.
"What's the QAT?" The three girls asked in unison.
Izumi grinned at them. "That would be telling." She went on to pull some supplies from the fridge and begin making batter. "So, about my quirk. It's called Unstable Genetics. Using this support item, I am able to shift into different transformations for a limited time." She lifted her left arm, drawing attention to her watch. "I also recently underwent a quirk awakening that allowed me to channel an energy stockpile in my human form, too."
Momo widened her eyes at the explanation, also noticing that Izumi was making pancakes. "That's quite a powerful quirk, Midoriya. No wonder you were able to defeat that robot." Izumi began heating up the pan, preparing to cover the surface with butter.
"Ah, it was a bit of a gamble really. In hindsight, I could have taken it down without exhausting myself like I did. I panicked a bit because of the size of the Zero Pointer, and because I was trying to keep the others safe. Mina, Hitoshi and Tooru helped get Ochako away from there, so I couldn't have done it without them." Momo hummed absentmindedly as she sipped her own cup of tea.
"Hey, y'all talkin' about the Zero Pointer?" Izumi turned around to see Ochako and Tooru standing at the entrance to the kitchen. "We just finished getting settled, and we smelled something sweet!"
"Hey, Ochako, Tooru! Yeah, I'm making us all pancakes and Mina won't stop bothering me about the Zero Pointer." She said, earning a protesting shout from Mina. "You need help with anything?"
Ochako smiled. "Nah, we got this. I can make things weightless, remember?" She said, earning a nod from Izumi. "Oh, nice to meet you! I'm Uraraka Ochako and this is Hagakure Tooru." She addressed Momo.
"Hey there, nice to meet you!" Tooru waved cheerfully.
"Ah, likewise. I'm Yaoyorozu Momo. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
'She's like a princess!' They both thought.
"I was just asking Midoriya-san about her quirk." Momo stated. "Would you care for some tea?" Both girls nodded.
"Izumi's quirk is pretty amazing, right?" Ochako said. "You told her what you did to the Zero Pointer, right?"
Izumi groaned. "Ochako, I swear to God, if anybody else talks to me about the Zero Pointer, I'm going to give them burnt pancakes… on purpose." Mina gasped.
"You wouldn't dare!" Tooru said, outraged.
Izumi glared back at her, somehow pinpointing the placement of her eyes. "Try me." She smiled, though to the other girls, it felt like she bared her teeth.
Momo, cleared her throat. "Well, since you told me about her quirk, let me tell you about mine." Immediately, she saw Izumi stop everything she was doing, just as she was about to pour the first pancake. She turned off the fire, produced a notebook and listened intently.
Momo looked at the other girls, who looked a bit miffed about the pancakes being delayed. "So… It's called creation. I can convert my lipids into other kinds of atoms, allowing me to create any non living object, so long as I have knowledge of its composition and enough fuel." She watched the girl furiously scribbling on her notebook. After a few moments, she looked up, and the deluge of questions ensued.
"Any nonliving material?! Then if you had knowledge of its structure, could you make theoretical material? Carbon nanotubes? Do you have an eidetic memory? What's the largest object you've ever created? Do you have a denser body structure to account for the quantity of lipids? Do the kinds of fats you eat impact your ability to create? Can you create things partway and reabsorb them? Mutter mutter mutter…"
Momo looked at the other girls. "Is this… normal?"
They all nodded. "Pretty much. She questioned me for like an hour about my quirk. For the longest time I thought it was just invisibility, but it turns out it was light refraction!" Tooru remembered the conversation fondly, especially Izumi's suggestion that she might be able to expand her invisibility to other objects and even switch it off entirely.
Izumi seemed to snap away from her thoughts and blushed. "Ah, sorry Yaoyorozu-san. I just really love analysing quirks, and I think yours is fascinating." Her eyes seemed to sparkle like emeralds as she looked at the heiress. "And I imagine it must have taken a lot of effort to make it useful. I mean, even with my memory, it would take a long time to even start to memorise simple objects! But to make it useful for heroics, you must have worked pretty hard."
Momo let out an "Eep!" and her upper chest began glowing, popping out a small doll that Izumi caught. It was a matryoshka doll, made in her likeness. Izumi marvelled at it. "Oh, I'm sorry! When I was little, the first complex thing I learned how to create were these dolls. I make them often enough that sometimes they pop out." The girls cooed while Izumi continued to stare.
"Uh, do you mind if I keep this, Yaoyorozu-san? It's… really pretty." Izumi blushed.
"Of course, Midoriya-san." She replied. "Now, to answer some of your questions, yes, as long as I know the atomic structure, I can create anything. I do not have an eidetic memory, but it is better than average, especially for chemistry, I assume that I have an overly developed temporal lobe to aid in my quirk use. I have once created a canon, but since I require bare skin to use my quirk, that's about as large as I can go. The fats I eat don't impact my quirk, but I do prefer the healthier ones, to keep my figure. Y-yes, my body is about twice as dense as the average human… I've never tried to reabsorb something halfway, though." Izumi beamed. It had been the longest time since someone actually responded to her questioning almost in its entirety.
Izumi then looked at her notes, completing them with Momo's answer, then frowned, placing her pen to her lips. "Something wrong, Midori?" Mina asked, bringing her out of it.
"Ah, no, sorry. It's just… Yaoyorozu-san, I think your quirk works differently from what you said." Izumi stated, still looking over her notes.
"Pardon?" Momo froze, confused.
Izumi paused, reread her notes, then looked at the heiress. "You said you created a cannon, right? Steel or iron, I presume." Momo nodded. "Then it can't be a straight conversion of your lipids. Even at twice the density, that kind of weight and volume would kill you." She said grimly, making Momo gasp. "My theory is that your quirk draws in atoms from the air or ground, and uses your lipids as fuel for fusion… like the heart of a star. That would mean… your quirk is much more powerful than you've considered!" She practically beamed as she closed her notebook. Momo was speechless. In mere minutes, Izumi had come up with a theory that would completely change how she viewed her quirk.
"I-I will have to test this later." Momo stuttered, still amazed, noticing the other girls looking at her fondly and understanding why.
Izumi once again smiled. "Please tell me when you do. I'd love to record the results. Now, I really should get back to the pancakes, unless I want a mutiny by the girls." Momo felt a warmth in her chest.
'Is this what those princesses felt?' She wondered.
Soon enough, breakfast was served. Izumi had predicted more arrivals, and had planned accordingly. Upon leaving the kitchen, she was met by a voice she dreaded hearing. It was that blue haired boy, scolding a girl with green hair. "This is absolutely unacceptable! Take your feet off the table immediately! People will eat there! Have you no consideration for this institution?"
The girl grinned. "Sure, I'll take them off the table." She said, only to separate her feet from her shins and float them around, seemingly doing a tap dancing routine in the air. Mina and Tooru chortled at the scene, while the boy just looked exasperated. Izumi felt tempted to take out her notebook, but remembered she had a tray of pancakes.
The boy then took notice of her and sped around the table. She flinched, expecting a scolding. She did not expect him to instead do a perfect 90 degree bow in front of her. "I must deeply apologise for my actions!" He said, rather loudly, drawing the attention of the other students in the common room. "You were clearly the superior hero back at the entrance exam! My behaviour towards you was completely reprehensible! You clearly figured out about the extra Hero Points, right? I am Iida Tenya, I hope we can start with a clean slate."
'Oh, so he's not an asshole, he's just really uptight.' She mused. "Ah, Midoriya Izumi. Sure, I'd like that." She replied. "But no, I didn't figure anything out, really. I just did what I thought was right." She said.
Once again Iida bowed, though not as deeply. "Then you are even more amazing a hero than I thought! Facing down that metal monstrosity… I feel ashamed of my cowardice."
The green haired girl widened her eyes and exclaimed. "Wait, you're the one who defeated the Zero MMPH?!" Her statement was cut off my Mina stretching her hand to cover her mouth.
"Don't! She'll give you burnt pancakes if you mention that!" Mina whisper-shouted.
Izumi grinned at her friend. "Good, you're learning." She then looked at the curious eyes of her future classmates, noticing that the overwhelming majority were girls. "Fine, I'll say this once." Her eyes grew cold as she placed the pancakes on the table. "Yes, I destroyed the Zero Pointer to save someone who was trapped. No, I didn't do it alone. I couldn't have done it without help, and I don't want the credit for it, especially since the people that got hurt were only in that situation because I was there at all. Can we please just have breakfast?" The other students nodded, though her friends specifically pouted at her words. One boy, with dual coloured hair and a prominent burn scar just narrowed his eyes at her.
They ate their pancakes without much ceremony, and had to admit they were quite good, especially with syrup and berries. Before long the twenty students of class 1-A were gathered in the common room, anxious about the meeting with their professor.
That's when a periwinkle rocket flew through the entrance and glomped onto Izumi's back, revealing a beautiful girl with sparkling eyes. "Zumi, Zumi, Zumi! Can you believe it?! I get to be the RA of my favourite kouhai!" Izumi felt the colour draining from her face. "I was so excited when I heard! I'm already in my third year, too! Kevin, Tamaki and Lucy said hi, by the way!" Hado Nejire began caressing the girl's hair, still attached to her back. "Oh, your hair is always so fluffy!"
Her eyes then locked onto Mina. She let go of Izumi, flying towards her new target propelled by golden spirals of energy. "You're so fluffy too! And I love your horns! Why are you wearing a winter coat? Are you a…"
Izumi cleared her throat, interrupting Nejire. "Hado-senpai!" She protested, though that earned her a pouting stare from her overly excitable upperclassman. "Ugh, Nejire-chan." She used the name Nejire had insisted she call her ever since Izumi had met her. "Could we not? Please? I'll make you pancakes later." Izumi knew that her best chance of getting Nejire to calm down was with a bribe.
"Sure thing, Zumi-chan!" She bounced back over to her kouhai's side.
At the other end of the room, a blonde guy looked excited. "Whoa, not only do we have a ton of chicks in our class, the RA's a total hottie!" That earned him a slap to the face with the frog girl's tongue, as well as a stab by an earphone jack coming out of another girl's ears, which left him rattled as they poured vibrations into him. "OUCH!"
"Keep that shit to yourself, dude." The girl with the earphone jacks spat back, crossing her arms. Izumi recognized the band shirt she wore, making a mental note to ask about it later.
"Sooo…" Nejire brought the room's attention back to herself. "How about some introductions before the professor gets here? I'll go first! My name is Hado Nejire. My quirk is Wave Motion. It lets me shoot out spiral beams of energy, which I can even use to fly. It uses my vitality, though, but it's fine, since I now have so much of it!" The other students sweatdropped. "I like flying and putting bad guys in jail, and I also paint!" She finished her introduction by sending out a small spiral from her index finger, looking at Izumi, who sighed.
"Well, then, guess I'm next. I'm Midoriya Izumi. My quirk is Unstable Genetics. With the help of my support item, I can shift into a few different forms, and recently I discovered how to use it to boost my strength. I like exercising and cooking, and I love analysing quirks, so I might ask you all a few questions." Izumi said.
All her friends snorted. "Yeah, a few." Hagakure teased. "I'm Hagakure Tooru! Nice to meet y'all! My quirk used to be called Invisibility, but now I call it Refraction. I unconsciously refract light to make myself invisible, but with some effort I'm able to control my refraction to redirect light. I'm still learning to do it, though. I like plushies and shopping, and I also like fashion!" She cheered.
Ochako went next. "I'm Ochako Uraraka. My quirk is Zero Gravity, and I can alter the effect of gravity of anything I touch with all five of my finger pads. I call them my beans, like a cat." The others giggled at that cute name. "I like physics and mochi, and I love learning about space!" That earned Nejire's attention.
A red haired girl went next. "Hey, I'm Kendo Itsuka. My quirk, Big Fist, lets me expand the size of my hands. I've practised martial arts since I was little, and I really like motorcycles. I also do calligraphy in my spare time." Kendo went for a shorter introduction.
"Heya! I'm Tokage Setsuna! My quirk is called Lizard Tail Splitter. I can split my body apart and control my parts telekinetically. I can also regenerate any body part that's destroyed, but it's a massive pain. I like guys and gals, and I love Kaiju movies!" The green haired girl from before, Tokage, went next.
The blonde girls with horns spoke up. "I Tsunotori Pony. American, so japanese not that good yet. If anybody can help, appreciate. Quirk is Horn Cannon. Can shoot and control horns. Also have horse mutation. Like apples and running, do yoga!" She spoke in broken japanese.
"Don't worry, Tsunotori-san, I can help you with Japanese if you want. My English is pretty good, but I'd love to practise." Izumi offered.
"I am also able to help, Tsunotori-san." Momo added.
"Ah, thank God!" She said with an accent. "Not bein' able to talk properly's been drivin' me nuts! I just can't seem to get y'all's grammar right!" She sounded completely different in English, which amused the pair.
"Oookay. Hey, I'm Kaminari Denki. My quirk is Electrification, and I can release an electrical discharge all over my body. I can short myself out if I go over my limit, and I can't aim the discharge if I let it out of my body, so I only use that as a last resort. I love video games and parties, and I play the guitar." The blonde boy from before introduced himself.
The purple haired girl with the band shirt went next. "'Sup. I'm Jirou Kyouka. My quirk's name is Earphone Jack. I can plug in the jacks on my earlobes into walls and hear anything in a pretty wide range. I also have naturally enhanced hearing. My jacks can extend up to six metres and I can send my heartbeat's vibrations through them. They also work as regular earphone jacks. I like music and dancing, and I play the bass, keyboard, guitar, violin, saxophone and a few other instruments." The class was amazed by the variety of instruments.
"I am Tokoyami Fumikage, and this is Dark Shadow, Tokoyami Sadi." A bird like shadow popped out of his body. "Heya, folks!" She said. "I like gothic literature and nighttime. I write poetry in my spare time. Sadi likes darkness and apples, and she hates bright lights." He concluded. Izumi was furiously writing in her notebook, amazed by the sentient quirk.
"I am Yanagi Reiko." A white haired girl with deathly pale skin spoke. "My quirk, Poltergeist, allows me to control objects up to my weight telekinetically. I love poetry and tragic theatre, and I used to act in high school." Tokoyami then looked at her intently, and she looked back, before they both blushed and turned away.
The dual coloured boy went next. "Todoroki Shouto." They waited for him to continue, but he didn't. Izumi stared at him for a moment, noting his cold, disinterested eyes. She tried her best to keep her dislike of Endeavour from bubbling over.
"Uh, guess I'm next!" A short brunette with bangs that covered one of her eyes started. "I'm Komori Kinoko. My quirk is Mushroom! I can produce mushroom spores from any species I've had contact with, and make them grow quickly, shroom! If they grow on a person, they quickly sap their strength away. I love pop idol groups and mushroom foraging, and I also love singing!"
A rather expressionless girl went next. "Mm. I'm Kodai Yui. My quirk's Size. I can alter the size of an object I touch with five fingers. If I press them together, it reverses." Ochako beamed as she saw another quirk that worked like hers. "I like tokusatsu, and I collect miniatures. I prefer texting over talking." She concluded, staring a moment too long at Izumi, her expression unreadable.
The girl with a frog mutation continued. "I'm Asui Tsuyu, but call me Tsu. My quirk is Frog, ribbit. I can do anything a frog can, but better. I like swimming and the rainy season, ribbit. I'm usually very blunt, because my facial expressions are really subtle."
Iida introduced himself by bowing. "Hello, all. I am Iida Tenya. I look forward to studying with you to become great heroes. My quirk is Engine. The engines on my legs grant me great speed, and they run on citric acid. They can run for about an hour on a pint of orange juice. I run every day in the mornings and I like playing chess."
Izumi nodded. "I might join you for that, then, since I also jog regularly. I would also like to tempt you to a game of chess sometime." He smiled and nodded.
The girl next to him, with vines for hair, clasped her hands together. "Greetings. I am Shiozaki Ibara. My quirk is called Vine, and my hair is composed of multiple vines, which I can control and extend at will. They require water and sunlight as well as frequent rubbing of soil on my scalp in order to stay in perfect health. I like gardening and I volunteer at my church on my days off. Ah, to be clear, I am Roman Catholic. Thank you." She bowed. Izumi really hoped they wouldn't have any problems, as did Mina, both having rather negative experiences with religious people.
"My name is Yaoyorozu Momo. I am likewise most pleased to meet all of you. My quirk, Creation, allows me to use my lipids as fuel to create nonliving objects, though I need to know their precise atomic composition." She said, smiling at Izumi as she used her updated theory. "I enjoy tea and reading, and I am quite skilled at sewing as well."
'She really is like a princess!' Everyone collectively thought. Izumi couldn't help but smile at her fondly, especially since she took such fond note of her analysis.
"Ugh, I'm next, huh?" Hitoshi grumbled. "Hey, I'm Aizawa Hitoshi." He looked at the surprised faces of his friends. "Yeah, I changed my name recently, in honour of the first person to actually care for me." They could feel the warmth in his voice, despite his tired demeanour. "You'll have to forgive me, but my quirk requires surprise in order to actually work, so I'll be keeping it secret for a bit longer." The other students were miffed, but ultimately understood his reasoning. "I like cats and taking naps, and I enjoy watching old movies."
"Heya peeps! I'm Ashido Mina!" The pink girl struck a confident pose with a grin on her face. "I have a dual quirk. I can secrete acid from my skin, controlling its acidity and viscosity at will, and I can also stretch my body. Since my body is actually tungsten-based, I feel really cold, but I can withstand pretty much any heat that isn't straight up magma. I call it Acid Stretch." She demonstrated by stretching out her arms and looping them around. "I love dancing and horror movies, and I hate bullies!" She finished.
"Yeah, bullies are so unmanly!" Eiko responded. "Hey, guys! I'm Kirishima Eiko. My quirk isn't very flashy, but I can harden my skin to handle all sorts of blows! It even increases the strength of my attacks. I'm a huge Crimson Riot fan, so I'm all about honour and manliness. But if I call you manly, it just means I think you're cool and noble." She added. "I love weightlifting and romantic comedies." That last one felt a little out of place, drawing a few chuckles.
"No way, Kirishima! Your quirk is awesome! The ultimate shield and spear!" Izumi encouraged her, her other friends still puzzled at how she could praise just about anyone, but couldn't take a compliment herself.
And with that, they were done. Immediately after, Izumi noticed another presence in the room. She looked back to see a giant caterpillar on the ground. Hitoshi also took notice, as did Tooru. The other teens began chatting, before she suddenly shushed them, leaving them confused. "Good morning, Aizawa-sensei. You're early." Izumi said, smiling.
The other teens turned around to see a caterpillar looking figure with a human face. It took them a moment to realise it was a sleeping bag. "Problem child…" He grumbled as he unzipped his bag and crawled out of his comfortable hiding space. He stood just a bit taller than Izumi, like Shinso, with scruffy black hair and an expression of absolute tiredness. "It took eight seconds for you to quiet down, and only three of you noticed me before I was revealed. That includes you too, Hado. You need to work on your situational awareness."
The entire class save for the five and Hado wondered if that was actually their professor. They then took note of his last name, said by Izumi, and immediately looked at Hitoshi. He shrugged. "I'm actually adopted. I swear it's just a coincidence. I checked the genealogy." He had been thoroughly disappointed when he received the results and found they were unrelated.
"Ugh, I'm already regretting this. I'm Professor Aizawa Shouta. I teach Hero Informatics to class 1-A alongside Ethics and Hero Law." He pulled out twenty uniforms and placed them on the table. "Now, let's not waste any time. Put on these uniforms and meet me on the practice field. Hadou will guide you there." He then turned around and looked back at his students with a wicked grin. "And don't be late."
Izumi, Hitoshi, Mina, Tooru and Ochako all began a mad dash to grab their respective uniforms from the pile. Izumi then looked at her classmates. "Come on, what are you doing? There's no countdowns here, and he said not to be late!" The other fifteen students immediately came to life as they too began running and scrambling for their uniforms.
