"It is the biggest party of the summer, Michael, and the temperature is boiling hot!" Lawler added enthusiastically. "The internet has been melting down all week over the week due to the war of words between our General Manager and the God King on Twitter!"
"Mick Foley crossed a major line, King!" JBL instantly argued, adjusting his cowboy hat. "Sandro Zhang had every right to be furious after what happened to him and those poor girls last week! And Foley's response? He tells Sandro to go cry to his daddy? Jack Zhang is a highly respected global businessman, and Foley is disrespecting the entire family!"
"Foley is laying down the law, John," Cole shot back. "He fined the God King, he made the Divas Championship match official, and he dropped a massive bombshell! Mick Foley has secured a mystery opponent for Sandro Zhang at SummerSlam, and the entire world is dying to know who it is!"
As the commentary team continued their heated debate, the massive digital TitanTron above the entrance stage suddenly flickered, cutting away from the live arena feed.
The crowd immediately popped as the screen displayed a live camera feed from the backstage area.
Sandro Zhang marched down the cinderblock hallway. He wasn't in a suit today, he wore a pair of dark designer jeans and a fitted black t-shirt, his twin World Championships resting heavily on his shoulders. He moved with a cold, terrifying purpose.
Flanking him closely were AJ Lee, Nikki Bella, and Alexa Bliss. The three women mirrored his intensity, walking with purposeful strides, glaring at any backstage personnel who dared to look in their direction.
Sandro didn't bother knocking. He reached the door marked General Manager and kicked it open with his heavy boot.
The camera followed them into the office.
Mick Foley was sitting comfortably behind a large wooden desk, a cup of coffee in one hand and a stack of paperwork in the other. He didn't flinch when the door slammed against the wall. He simply looked up, offering a warm, completely unfazed smile.
"Sandro," Foley greeted casually, taking a sip of his coffee. "Ladies. Come on in. Have a seat."
Sandro didn't sit. He walked directly up to the desk, placing his hands flat on the wooden surface, leaning over to invade Foley's personal space. AJ, Nikki, and Alexa stood directly behind him, crossing their arms, glaring venomously at the General Manager.
"Cut the folksy act, Foley," Sandro demanded, his voice dangerously low. "I don't play games. I told you to rectify the situation with Bray Wyatt, and your response was to try and insult my family on the internet."
"I didn't insult your family," Foley replied calmly, setting his coffee mug down. "I simply reminded you of the chain of command. I am the General Manager of Monday Night RAW. You don't dictate policy to me. If you have an issue with the way I run my show, you take it up with the Board of Directors, or you take it up with your father. Those are the channels. You don't threaten my job on Twitter."
"I don't make threats," Sandro corrected coldly. "I make guarantees. You want to play the corporate game with me? Fine. I will end you in boardrooms you don't even have the security clearance to enter."
Foley let out a slow, heavy sigh. He leaned back in his leather chair, interlocking his fingers over his chest. He had stood across the ring from The Undertaker, Kane, Triple H, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. A billionaire twenty year old with an ego was not going to intimidate him.
"You can swing your weight around all you want, Sandro," Foley said, his voice losing its warmth, replaced by a quiet, gritty authority. "But right now, you are standing in a wrestling arena. And in this arena, I hold the cards. I gave Nikki her title match against Brie. I made sure Harper and Rowan have to fight for their contendership tonight. I did my job."
Sandro's eyes narrowed. He stood up straight, adjusting the heavy gold on his shoulders.
"Then finish the job," Sandro ordered flatly. "Who is the opponent?"
The Dallas crowd watched the TitanTron with breathless anticipation.
Foley smiled, a genuinely sly, knowing look crossing his weathered face.
"Who did you find, Foley?" Sandro pushed, his patience wearing thin. "Who did you supposedly manage to convince to step into the ring with me? Because looking at the roster, I have broken just about everyone worth mentioning. So who is it?"
Foley reached across his desk, picking up a thick, leather bound folder. He tapped his fingers against the cover.
"You know, Sandro," Foley began thoughtfully. "You call yourself a God. You walk around here acting like you are completely untouchable. You beat Brock Lesnar, and you think that makes you invincible. But the truth is, you haven't faced everyone. There are still shadows in this business. There are still men who don't care about your money, your influence, or your titles."
"Give me the name," Sandro demanded, his voice echoing in the small office.
"No," Foley answered simply.
AJ let out an angry scoff. Nikki rolled her eyes in sheer frustration.
"You came into my office throwing your weight around, expecting me to hand you the answers," Foley said, tossing the folder back onto his desk. "But I don't work for you. You want to know who is challenging you for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam?"
Foley pointed a finger at the door.
"You will find out tonight," Foley promised. "In the middle of the ring. I have a contract signing scheduled for the end of the broadcast. You bring those shiny belts down to the ring, and you will meet the man who Vince McMahon personally approved to take you down. Until then, get out of my office."
Sandro stared at the Hardcore Legend for a long, incredibly tense moment. The air in the room was thick with hostility. The God King wasn't used to being told no, and the blatant disrespect from the General Manager clearly struck a nerve.
But Sandro didn't lose his temper. A slow, dark smirk crossed his face.
"I'll see you in the ring, Mick," Sandro whispered. "I hope, for your sake, whoever you found has good medical insurance."
Sandro turned on his heel, motioning for the girls to follow him, and walked out of the office.
The crowd in the American Airlines Center erupted into a massive cheer, their anticipation for the main event segment reaching an absolute fever pitch.
"Did you feel the tension in that room?!" Lawler exclaimed as the broadcast cut back to the live arena. "Mick Foley did not back down one single inch from the God King!"
"Foley is playing a dangerous game!" JBL warned loudly. "You do not keep Sandro Zhang in the dark! Whoever this mystery opponent is, they better be ready for a slaughter, because Sandro is going to take all of his frustrations out on them!"
"We will find out exactly who it is by the end of the night!" Cole hyped, his voice echoing through the arena. "The mystery will finally be solved, and the main event for SummerSlam will be set in stone!"
The show rolled forward with relentless momentum, delivering hard hitting matches and progressing rivalries, but the looming shadow of the impending contract signing hung heavily over Dallas. The wrestling world was waiting with bated breath, desperate to see exactly who possessed the courage, the resume, and the sheer audacity to step out from behind the curtain and formally challenge the God King for his throne.
The broadcast rolled forward, the heavy tension from the General Manager's office still lingering in the air. Monday Night RAW had delivered a relentless pace, but as the final hour ticked down, the focus shifted to the squared circle. The stakes were incredibly high. A guaranteed World Tag Team Championship opportunity at SummerSlam hung in the balance, and the Dallas crowd was buzzing with a restless, electric energy.
"We are moments away from a massive tag team collision!" Cole announced, his voice practically vibrating with excitement. "Mick Foley promised us a definitive number one contender, and tonight, two of the most popular and dangerous factions in WWE history are going to war to earn that spot!"
"I cannot wait for this, Michael!" Lawler cheered, clapping his hands together. "The New Day and the Wyatt Family have serious history. They tore the house down a few weeks ago, and now, with a SummerSlam title shot on the line, both of these teams are going to leave everything they have in that ring!"
"They should both be suspended," JBL grumbled, aggressively adjusting his cowboy hat. "I don't care about a number one contender's match. The New Day are nothing but a bunch of ungrateful betrayers who turned their backs on the God King. And the Wyatt Family? They are just a bunch of disgusting, unwashed flies trying to dirty Sandro Zhang's throne. None of these men deserve a spot on the SummerSlam card."
Before Cole could argue, the stadium speakers cracked to life.
"AWWWWW, DALLAS! DON'T YOU DARE BE SOUR!"
Big E's booming, gravelly voice echoed through the American Airlines Center, instantly washing away the heavy tension. The crowd erupted into a massive, joyous roar as the upbeat, infectious gospel fusion of The New Day's theme song hit the sound system.
Bursting through the curtain with boundless, chaotic energy were Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E. They wore matching vibrant pink and blue ring gear, adorned with glowing unicorn horns strapped to their foreheads. Xavier Woods furiously played his trombone, affectionately named Francesca, while Big E shimmied his shoulders, carrying a massive plastic platter stacked high with pancakes.
They marched down the long steel ramp, completely ignoring JBL's venomous commentary. The trio threw handfuls of pancakes into the cheering audience, slapping high fives and whipping the Texas crowd into a frenzy. They slid under the bottom rope, continuing their synchronized, rhythmic clapping in the center of the ring.
"NEW DAY ROCKS! NEW DAY ROCKS!" the Dallas crowd chanted in perfect unison.
But the party was destined to be short lived.
DEH.
The jarring, terrifying buzz of static ripped through the arena, cutting the upbeat music dead. The bright arena lights violently shut off, plunging the massive stadium into pitch black darkness.
The atmosphere shifted instantly. The cheers morphed into a low, hushed murmur of anticipation. Thousands of fans pulled out their cell phones, holding the glowing screens high in the air, creating a breathtaking ocean of digital fireflies in the darkness.
The slow, haunting acoustic strum of Live in Fear began to play.
A single, amber flame flickered to life at the top of the entrance stage. Bray Wyatt emerged from the shadows, wearing his trademark fedora and Hawaiian shirt, holding the rusted oil lantern in front of his face. He let out a low, rumbling chuckle that echoed chillingly through the microphone.
Following closely behind him were Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. The two massive men wore their dirty, unsettling sheep masks, walking with heavy, deliberate steps. The contrast between the bright, pastel joy of The New Day and the grimy, horrifying aesthetic of the Wyatt Family was visually striking.
"Look at the size of these monsters," Lawler whispered, the excitement in his voice replaced by genuine awe. "They don't care about titles, Cole. They care about destruction."
Bray stopped at the foot of the steel ramp. A ringside crew member had already placed an old fashioned wooden rocking chair on the floor. Bray sat down heavily, resting the lantern on his knee. He stared up at the ring, a dark smile playing on his lips.
Harper and Rowan climbed onto the ring apron. They slowly peeled the sheep masks off their faces, tossing them to the floor, and stepped over the top rope.
Bray raised the lantern to his lips and blew out the flame.
The arena lights snapped back on. The referee moved to the center of the ring, ensuring that Xavier Woods and Luke Harper were the official legal men to start the contest. He pointed to Kofi Kingston, ordering him to stay behind the ropes on the outside, checked with the timekeeper, and raised his hand.
DING! DING! DING!
The Dallas crowd roared as the bell sounded. Woods circled Harper cautiously. He knew he was severely outsized, so he relied on his agility. Woods darted forward, throwing a rapid sequence of low leg kicks, trying to chop the big man down like a tree.
Harper didn't even flinch. He absorbed the kicks, lunged forward, and swung a massive, looping clothesline. Woods ducked underneath the thick arm, hit the ropes, and launched himself into a running crossbody block.
Harper caught him effortlessly in mid air. With terrifying raw power, Harper spun Woods around and drove him spine first into the canvas with a crushing swinging side slam!
"Good god!" Cole yelled. "Harper just swatted him out of the air!"
Harper didn't go for the pin. He grabbed Woods by his braided hair, hauling the cruiserweight to his feet, and delivered a blistering, open handed chop across Woods' chest. The impact sounded like a shotgun blast. Woods collapsed to his knees, gasping for air as a bright red handprint instantly formed on his pectoral muscle.
Harper dragged Woods into the hostile corner, tagging in Erick Rowan. The red bearded giant stepped over the top rope, cornering Woods. He unleashed a barrage of heavy, bare knuckle right hands to the ribs, systematically breaking Woods down.
"This is exactly what the Wyatt Family does," JBL analyzed, leaning forward. "They isolate the weak link. They don't wrestle; they maul. Woods is in serious trouble."
Rowan whipped Woods violently into the opposite corner. The impact was so severe that Woods bounced off the turnbuckles, stumbling forward into the center of the ring. Rowan charged, looking for a massive running splash, but Woods showed incredible ring awareness. He dropped to the mat, tripping the giant with a drop toe hold. Rowan crashed face-first into the canvas.
Woods scrambled to his feet, hitting the ropes, and delivered a desperation sliding knee strike directly to the side of Rowan's head!
The crowd popped as Rowan rolled onto his back, stunned. Woods didn't wait. He lunged across the ring, diving horizontally, and slapped Big E's outstretched hand.
The arena exploded!
Big E entered the ring like a runaway freight train. Rowan staggered to his feet, swinging a heavy right hand. Big E ducked it, wrapped his thick arms around the giant's waist, and launched the 300 pounder across the ring with a massive, over the head belly to belly suplex!
Harper rushed in illegally to stop the momentum, but Big E was ready. He ducked Harper's clothesline, hooked him, and delivered a second, equally devastating belly to belly suplex to the other monster!
"Big E is cleaning house!" Lawler cheered, throwing his hands in the air. "The raw power of this man is absolutely unbelievable!"
Big E hit the ropes, accelerating to maximum speed, and delivered his signature running big splash squarely across Rowan's chest. He hooked the massive leg.
"ONE!"
"TWO!"
"NO!"
Rowan kicked out with so much force that he threw Big E completely off of him.
The match slowed down to a grueling, punishing pace. Big E tagged Woods back in, and The New Day utilized their quick tags to keep Rowan grounded. They executed the Unicorn Stampede perfectly, taking turns rapidly stomping Rowan in the corner while the referee counted his warnings.
But the Wyatt Family's resilience was terrifying.
Around the ten minute mark, Woods hit the ropes, looking for the Honor Roll flipping clothesline. As he sprang into the air, Rowan caught him cleanly, spinning him around and planting him with a devastating spinning powerslam.
Rowan tagged Harper. The match spilled to the outside.
Harper dragged Woods out of the ring, violently hurling him over the announce desk! Woods crashed into the leather office chairs, taking out Michael Cole and JBL in the process.
"Hey! Watch it!" JBL yelled, scrambling backward as monitors tumbled to the floor.
Kofi Kingston sprinted around the ring, getting right in Harper's face, defending his partner. Harper simply smiled, raising a massive hand to shove Kofi away. But before Harper could strike, Big E came charging around the steel ring post. Big E lowered his shoulder, launching his 280 pound frame forward, and tackled Harper straight through the timekeeper's barricade!
The steel frame crumpled under the weight of the two massive men.
"Holy hell!" Lawler screamed. "They just destroyed the barricade! Bodies are flying everywhere!"
The Dallas crowd initiated a deafening "THIS IS AWESOME!" chant, fully invested in the absolute chaos.
The referee began a frantic ten count, leaning through the ropes, screaming for the legal men to return to the ring. Erick Rowan walked around the outside, grabbing Big E by the throat and driving him spine first into the steel steps to neutralize the powerhouse.
In the wreckage of the announce desk, Woods slowly pulled himself to his feet. Harper staggered up from the broken barricade. Woods jumped onto the ring apron, waiting for Harper to turn around. As the giant faced the ring, Woods launched himself off the apron, delivering a beautiful flying tornado DDT that spiked Harper head-first into the thin ringside mats!
"Xavier Woods risking his own body to take out the giant!" Cole yelled, having retrieved his headset. "This match is an absolute classic!"
Woods rolled Harper back under the bottom rope, sliding in right behind him. The legal men were finally back inside.
Woods climbed to the top turnbuckle, balancing precariously. He leaped into the humid arena air, soaring across the ring, and delivered his spectacular Limit Break diving elbow drop directly across Harper's chest!
Woods hooked the leg! The crowd counted along with the referee's hand!
"ONE!"
"TWO!"
"THRE—NOOOOOO!"
Harper thrust his shoulder up at the absolute last milisecond. The arena gasped in sheer disbelief, holding their heads as the false finish fooled half the building. Woods pushed himself up, running his hands over his face in sheer frustration. He backed into the corner, slapping the turnbuckle, hyping himself up. He waited for Harper to slowly rise to his knees.
