The monsters voice echoed in the silent cave, repeating itself like the monster had repeated the word.
For a seconds, Damien froze. Then he lifted his sword to the monster's neck.
No reaction.
"What did you just say?"
No response.
Damien had read of monster that can communicate and understand humans, but he shouldn't be seeing those level kind of monster in this place. And more importantly, he should t have been able to defeat it without his magic power.
Still holding tight to the sword, he crouched to the monsters level, looking down at the huge beast in front of him. It's purple blood gushed out from the hand he had slashed.
But his eyes was blank. Empty. It wasn't much different from the feral monsters than had attacked them on their way to the fortress, but this one seemed to be higher than those ones.
Damien kicked it, trying to see if there would be any response but none.
