Incredible, it's impossible. He muttered to himself, his brow furrowing, that she was as weak and delicate as a human.
Upon seeing this expression, the Medicus immediately knelt down with his head bowed.
"Your Highness, we have known each other since childhood and I have never asked anything of you," he said. The King's face immediately grew dark.
"I understand, but don't tell me you want me to focus all my attention on that cursed child," the Medicus replied with a smile.
"As the King of Gultan Dynasty, I offer you advice as a loyal friend." He stood up without waiting for the king's permission.
"Princess Lily is not responsible for Queen Lizzy Greene's death, and you should not blame her or yourself. She sacrificed herself for her daughter, as any mother would do when their child is in danger."
The King immediately rose and grabbed the Medicus by the neck.
"That's enough, Medicus Callisto. Never do what you just did today again. I might have spared you today because you are my friend, but next time I won't,"
The King warned, releasing his grip on the Medicus' neck.
"Now leave my presence."
Medicus Callisto didn't flinch at all. He looked at the king and laughed.
"King Hadrian, you were not the only one who lost Lady Lizzy, do you understand? She was also my sister, so you better control yourself",
He briefly closed his eyes before he continued.
"I may not be close to my sister's daughter, but at least when she needs me in the future, I will try to be there for her," he said angrily.
"You must stay by her side, you cannot simply use her to gain control over Lord Ariston, the dark one. You know that Lily doesn't have the strength to achieve the power you desire," he stated quickly.
As the king's expression grew more menacing and the atmosphere shifted, Medicus Callisto, a level 9 awakened Shadow-born, would have succumbed to the freezing cold if not for his abilities.
"Leave, Callisto. I have no desire to cause you harm," the king stated, his expression remaining unchanged.
"The truth is always painful, Hadrian, and we are both aware of that."
He conjured the barela spell, a known shield or barrier, to protect himself in anticipation of any potential events.
"You must come to your senses, Hadrian, because I no longer recognize the person you have become. Since her passing, you have transformed into a power-hungry creature, exploiting your own daughter,"
Medicus sensed the king's attempt to avoid causing harm. "Your daughter, Lily, possesses both shadow-born and light-born abilities."
Everything came to a standstill as the king collapsed to his knees, his eyes bloodshot, lost in his own thoughts.
Seizing this opportunity, Medicus Callisto approached his highness and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Take a moment to reflect on why Lily sacrificed her life," he urged.
In response, the king tightly grasped Medicus' hand, before once again clutching his neck, this time with the intention of killing him.
"Hahaha, do you really think I'm foolish? I've been aware from the beginning that the delicate, weak girl was responsible for my wife's death, especially since there wasn't a single mark on her body."
Medicus realized he couldn't escape, so he focused on healing himself after letting his guard down.
That was his mistake, and the guards stationed outside the chamber sensed that something had gone wrong.
No one dared to enter, but they knew they had to take action.
"Go fetch Queen Mica," commanded a guard who was a level 5 light-born.
"Yes, sir," replied the guard who was a level 4 Awaken Shadow-born, immediately rushing towards the Queen's chambers.
Upon arrival, he signaled to the other guards to let him in, and they complied. Once inside, he immediately bowed his head.
"My Lady, the king has lost his temper. If we don't save Medicus Callisto, I'm afraid he will die."
"Hmm, I understand," she said. "If I allow the king to kill a high-level healer, it may be entertaining, but unfortunately, it will tarnish our reputation."
Without looking at the guard, she entered the king's chamber, casting a protective spell to ensure her safety.
"My King, what seems to be the issue?" she asked, fully aware of why the king was behaving this way.
Ever since she married him, she knew he wasn't the type to easily become angry and unleash his power. There must be a reason before he does so. Either he was at the battlefield or the mere mention of Queen Lizzy's name.
She still remembered when she almost lost her life at his hands because she had planned to kill Lizzy and spoke ill of her.
It was her worst nightmare, but it also served as a remedy for the king.
"Leave, Mica, right now," the king said without even looking at her.
"I will, but our reputation might be in jeopardy at the moment,"
she said, admiring her fingers. "The maids did an excellent job, and I will reward them." She said to herself and turned to the king.
"My King, Lady Lizzy is alive," she said with a smile".
Everything stopped, and he regained his composure, immediately leaving the palace for an unknown destination. "All is well now, that's his cure"
She let out a soft sigh.
"Lizzy, by killing you, I thought I could win his heart. But no, your name kept resurfacing, and it's irritating me,"
She said to herself. That was her dark secret that she could never share with anyone until death.
Medicus Callisto, who had been saved, laughed because he knew that today he would have died if not for his sister's enemy saving him.
He knew it was done to save face. He was about to leave when Queen Mica grabbed his hand.
"Why are you leaving so soon? After all, I saved your life, so you owe me."
"This woman, does she think I'm a fool?" he said to himself. He immediately removed her hand from his and left the chamber.
"That was not enjoyable," she laughed out loud and went to her room. It was time to make her move for her daughter to become queen.
