Chapter 4591: Adventurous Traverse
The Primal Chaos Stone called out frantically if the Ferry was sucked in, it would be doomed, and Lin Moyu too; not a chance of survival. The Primal Chaos Stone would wind up lost in the Life Restricted Zone, not knowing how many years it might take to re enter the world.
Lin Moyu poured all his soul power into the Ferry, steering it against the suction and flying in the opposite direction.
He saw a Primordial Vortex ahead; it wasn't one of the larger ones, yet it had just switched directions from pushing to pulling, and the Ferry happened to be right in its path.
Fortunately, the vortex's suction wasn't too strong, and, with full force, Lin Moyu managed to break free.
The Primal Chaos Stone breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness when a Primordial Vortex changes direction, whether it's pulling or pushing, the power erupts all at once. If you survive the initial outburst, its power usually stabilizes for a while."
"What you must watch out for is the explosive force when the vortex turns; it might suck us in, or fling us away to be caught by another vortex."
"We were lucky this time with enough distance; if closer, escaping might not be possible."
The warning was solemn and serious.
"I understand." Lin Moyu surveyed the Primordial Vortices, scattered like devouring beasts with gaping maws. A single mistake could be deadly.
Both push and pull must be guarded against there could be no relaxation.
The Ferry changed course repeatedly, always keeping a good distance from each vortex.
Gradually, Lin Moyu entered among them, cautiously steering and looking for a suitable vortex for himself.
The vortexes varied hugely in strength, the weakest and strongest differing by tens of thousands of times.
Just as the Primal Chaos Stone advised, he ignored the powerful vortices and focused only on the weaker ones.
The Ferry slowed amid the looming vortices, and Lin Moyu started noticing patterns.
Every vortex, whether pushing or pulling, could only exert force in a straight line.
Each one was oriented differently its power never curved or spread out, just concentrating in a single direction.
This made their otherwise invisible forces traceable.
Lin Moyu mapped out this interwoven force web in his mind; the Ferry moved carefully through the mesh.
But after entering the cluster, Lin Moyu still didn't find any vortex weak enough for him among thousands, even the weakest wasn't manageable.
The Ferry had to press on, moving slowly; this was no place to rush.
A question arose: "Are Primordial Vortices the true core of the origin?"
The Primal Chaos Stone shook his head, "No, they're just the periphery. The heart of the origin is inaccessible to most even Supremes have to work at it."
"There's nothing there, though; Supremes go for world refinement, to become a 'World Hand.' You don't need to think about it yet."
"I see. I'll leave that for another time."
The Primal Chaos Stone said, "Once you become a Supreme and refine this world, plus the one you already possess, you'll have two worlds the power boost will be immense."
Lin Moyu asked, "Did all the Supremes you've met only ever possess one world?"
The Primal Chaos Stone replied, "Yes, only one. Even someone as mighty as the Breaking Blue Emperor could only claim one world after obtaining it; he had to keep refining other worlds to strengthen his own."
"But there is a limit usually, after a few refinements, your world hits its cap. Extra world remnants just serve to bolster one's strength."
"All the Supremes value their own power above all; whether their world is strong enough isn't their main concern they don't rely on worlds for strength."
Not relying on external things, Lin Moyu realized these Supremes approached cultivation as he did he was on the right path.
After traveling a while longer, threading the mesh, their journey was safe.
Sadly, the current cluster of vortices contained none suitable for him; Lin Moyu had to keep searching. There were more up ahead he was sure a good match would eventually appear.
He targeted the next group, and as the Ferry approached, it halted; Lin Moyu gazed ahead, expression serious.
This next group of vortices was smaller, likely to harbor a suitable vortex.
But these vortices would change direction.
Earlier vortices always faced one fixed way only push or pull varied, and calculating their path made traversing easy.
Now, though, these vortices constantly shifted orientation, their rotation and push/pull changing unpredictably.
Lin Moyu observed silently, memorizing all vortices within sight, forming a three dimensional mental map.
He tracked the shifting angles, looking for patterns.
Finding that pattern would let him slip through safely whether push or pull wouldn't matter.
He multitasked, monitoring thousands of vortices and their rotational shifts;
the mesh emerged in his mind, and he found a safe course.
It wasn't a hard task for Lin Moyu the real challenge lay beyond what was visible.
Once inside the mesh, he couldn't stop and had to keep moving; there were more vortices within, out of sight, visible only once inside. Their shifting directions were unknown for now.
These hidden changes were dangerous; seeing and recalculating in real time was vital to finding a safe way through.
The process was risky, and Lin Moyu knew success wasn't assured.
If it proved impossible, he'd just try a different cluster and hope for more stable ones.
As Lin Moyu tracked the vortices, the Primal Chaos Stone was also watching.
But instead of gauging paths, it peered directly at the vortex interiors.
"I see a vortex that might be just right for you," it suddenly said.
Lin Moyu, ready to move elsewhere, asked, "Are you sure?"
"Not certain eighty percent, maybe."
Eighty percent was worth a try.
"Then let's check it out."
The Ferry glided into the vortex cluster, Lin Moyu skillfully steering through the mesh.
