When I came to and opened my eyes, Lily was there with tears pooled in hers.
"Lord Robbie!!"
She grabbed my shoulders and shook me. My head wobbled and I almost blacked out again… someone stop her!
"Lily! Stop that! He will faint again!"
Her Majesty's voice. Ah. Bless her. Lily had been shaking me hard enough that my soul had been about to leave my body.
Lily let go and my head dropped onto the pillow. It was soft. Not the classic light-novel thing where you wake on someone's lap.
"Lord Robbie! Are you all right?"
Lily asked. I could not say it was your fault I almost died a second time, so I went with,
"Yeah. I'm fine. My head's a little swimmy, but it's nothing."
"Really? Thank goodness!"
Then Lily started crying.
"Lord Marie collapsed from running out of mana. Dee realized that, but Dee could not pour mana into Lord Marie, so he was brought to me."
