Chapter 9 - first day of school

Violet smiled at her uniform and gave the mirror one last look before heading down the steps.

"You ready? The cars are here to take us." Jeremy asks.

Violet nods, "Mhmm." Then she tilted her head and smiled lightly.

"Well, good. We've waited long enough. Why did it take you so long to get ready?" Ash grumbled.

What happened to the nice, patient man that was with her last night? Why is he so cold to her again?

Jeremy noticed Violet was trying to hide the anxiety she was starting to feel. Her naivety made him chuckle.

"There's no need to try and hide it. I can smell your anxiety, Violet." Jeremy says, walking toward the door first.

Oliver turns, glides across the floor in an instant, his mouth to Violet's ear, and whispers, "Today's going to be fun." You could see a smirk on his face as he pulled back.

Violet jumped, startled by his sudden movement and words of terror. Flinching at his words.

"Shut the fuck, Oliver. I'll kill you if you touch her." Ash snarled at him.

"Ha, you couldn't kill me even if you meant it." Oliver laughs off Ash's threat.

"Oh, I mean it." Groaned Ash. And he did. He'd kill anyone for her.

"Don't cause me any problems today at school. I don't want to have to drive there and explain your repulsive behavior." Gabriel said to the four of them as they walked out the door.

"Behave yourselves and be sure no one tries anything with our maiden."

The word " our" hung in the air as another reminder to her she was their property.

The drive wasn't very long, but it was quiet. Violet sat sandwiched between Ash and Jeremy. She was fidgeting with nervousness as well as excitement. Oliver was sitting across from her, watching her, his smile full of dark intent. Ash was watching Oliver watch her, ready to attack in her defense, and Jeremy just stared out the window with discontent.

Arriving to school, Violet stares up at the building before her. It was huge. A prestigious private school, non-magic humans attended during the day, vampires at night. Vampires weren't a secret anymore to the world of daylight, but not much was known about them, and as long as humans weren't attacked, they lived alongside one another. The school was an old castle. At the entrance, there was an iron gate that surrounded the school grounds. The building was the color sand and had a brown roof. The building was truly stunning. There were three stories, and on each level, there were tall windows giving sight to students inside the classrooms. Violet could feel the eyes on her as she approached the school's main entrance. Starting to walk a little too far ahead, according to Ash, so

grabs her by her shoulder, yanking her back some, "don't go too far until we get you to the office and get your credentials. You're a target until we can crown you the Queen of Vampires, so you need the school's protection while you're here. And people need to see you're under special privilege."

"She's got us, she'll be fine," Oliver said unconcerned with the possibility of harm.

"She should be more afraid of you breathing anywhere near her than the rest of our classmates. You're the biggest danger to her." Jeremy muttered, walking away.

Ash walks with Violet to the office, and Oliver follows behind, hands in his pocket. Watching her hips sway as she walks. Gazing at her figure like she was stalking his prey.

Violet could feel him staring. It was making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Struggling to keep a smile, she eventually made her way to the office safely.

Violet was given a pass to carry in her backpack and a special pin placed on her jacket for all to see. She was untouchable, a special guest. Touching her was practically a death sentence.

"This only stops you from the other students. Not Oliver or Jeremy," Ash said to her, glaring at Oliver who was standing behind her, still eyeing her.

"Oliver, get lost," Ash said to him.

"Actually, you get lost. We have first period together, as well as the other two before lunch." Oliver said, wrapping his arms around her chest, pulling her to him. His cold, open hands pressed just above her nipples, drawing her into him, restricting her arms to her side. He trapped her in his possessive embrace. She began to tremble.

"Don't test me, Oliver," Ash said with a rough, deep growl. "I'm not kidding."

"I won't fuck her, first little brother. That spot's for Gabriel." Oliver grinned, showing a single fanged tooth.

Ash's fangs extended in response as he sneered and growled at Oliver.

"You know you have no right to claim her as only yours. She belongs to all of us. For now." Oliver chuckled and mockingly said, "Now, if you'll excuse us, I have to get our dear Violet to class, or we will be late. And we don't want to be late on the first day of class, do we?" Oliver said, completely dismissing Ash's threats.

Oliver kept an arm around Violet as they walked through the halls. Violet was very uncomfortable with all the stares she was getting. The boys looked at her like she was the cutest thing they'd ever seen, making Oliver the object of envy among many in the halls.

There were whispers and glances all around, making comments about her. "Master Oliver has a woman on his arm," and "not just any woman, a human girl under their protection." Violet was trying to ignore the stares and whispers about her. Arriving in class, Oliver noticed her discomfort, and he took full advantage of that.

"I see many of you are looking at my little human pet. Well, don't be shy, come

closer." Oliver had a devious grin as she looked down at her. Violet was trembling as all her classmates approached her. Two boys stepped forward and smelled the air around her. Their fangs extended some as a response to her delicious scent.

"She smells so good." Said the first boy, taking in a deep inhale.

"Does she taste as good as she smells?" Asked the second boy.

"Better, here I'll show you."

Grabbing her by the wrists, he holds her arms up, biting into her wrist and drinking from it. She winces with squeaks again at the sharp pain of his fangs piercing her skin. The thick aroma of her blood hitting the air sets everyone in the classroom on edge. Everyone now wants a taste of Violet. And she could see it in their red eyes. They started to swarm her. She knew if any of them could get their hands on her, they would, despite the risks.

She doesn't think Oliver thought this through, trying to ensure no one touches her. He just gave everyone in the room, he'll maybe even the school, a good reason to risk death. The smell of her blood was intoxicating; it was hard for Purebloods to resist, it would be even harder for any other vampire

"She's so cute." Said a third boy who came forward and grabbed a strand of her hair.

Touching her triggered a level of jealousy, Oliver didn't know he was capable of. He grabbed the third boy by the throat, lifting him into the air.

"Who the fuck said you could touch what's mine?" Oliver snapped. "What makes you think a little swine like you is worthy of touching the maiden?"

The boy was struggling in Oliver's grip. Oliver opened his mouth wide, flashing his fangs.

The teacher walked in and smelled her immediately. He floated over to her and said, "Why don't you smell delicious? I can assume you are our special guest. We have a human transfer, yes?"

Violet nodded, yes, scared, sinking closer to Oliver.

Feeling and smelling her fear coming from someone other than him pissed him off more. Usually, Violet's fear excited him, but the idea of someone else intimidating his little plaything set him off. He pulled Violet behind him, tucking her in closer. "I would appreciate some distance. After smelling and tasting my lovely Violet, the smell of you is ruining it," Oliver began to growl. "You can return to your desk, professor."

Flashing his elongated fangs again to the room as a reminder of who he is. Oliver Drakarys, Prince of Night, he was vampire royalty, a Pureblood.

"Now everyone questioning her worth and value to me may understand, I will kill whoever touches my things."

Violet hated being treated like an object. She reminded herself over and over again that she's a person.

"Well, it seems we have had an exciting start to our school day. Our special guest and transfer student is a maiden." The teacher was very interested in Violet. She could feel his predatory gaze washing over every inch of her body. Oliver took notice of it and would discuss it later with Gabriel.
