All jaws were shredded into pieces as Jaai dropped on his knees. In everything that everyone had thought would happen, they could never have imagined that Jaai would do that!
Elaine was as shocked as her children. What the hell was this about?
Jaai had just been dealt with unjustly and even beaten up on top of that. Even though he can't remember his past, yet, someone who has just been forced to divorce his wife shouldn't be doing what Jaai was doing in that moment.
Elaine didn't know how to react for the next few moment. She just stared at Jaai as though she had lost all her will power.
Jaai stood up on his feet after those words. He looked her straight in the eyes. His face held a generous amount of peace and calm.
Could he be up to something? Elaine thought for a moment. She didn't think that was possible. What could Jaai possibly think of? He had lost his memory. He couldn't possibly remember anything tangible.
Elaine decided that she didn't have to worry about anything at all. If there was anyone that should be vulnerable, it should be someone who has lost his memories, and not her!
"You said you want to send me on an errand." Jaai asked, looking directly into her eyes.
Jada stared blankly at the scene. Marcus couldn't act high and mighty in this situation either. Jaai seemed to have taken all of them by surprise.
"Oh right." Elaine turned away from him and walked to her chair. She pulled something out of the corner of the couch.
It must be a weird habit for someone as wealthy as that to hide things in the foam of the couch.
"Come." She called, lazy to walk back to where she had left Jaai standing.
Jaai hurried to her and collected a piece of paper.
"Go to that location. Bring me the package. Tell them you are from Mrs Elaine Hullevard." She instructed.
Jaai nodded obediently after this and hurried away. He acted like a vulnerable child that was trying his best to please his mother at all cost.
Everyone watched with mouth agape as Jaai ran out of the foyer. Preposterous and unprecedented.
"What just happened?" Marcus finally found his voice as soon as Jaai left.
"I can't believe this! Did he really lose his memory?" Gerard shook his head in perplexion.
"I didn't believe it at first, but right now, this has to be real. The Jaai I know would never do this even if he was in the wrong." Marcus nodded firmly as he complemented his brother's take.
"If that's so, then ---"
"That means I have found myself a personal slave! It's time to make him pay for all the stress he's put me through in the past." Marcus sneered as dark thoughts started flowing through his brain.
"Leave." Elaine said out of the blue.
"Huh?" Marcus and Gerard exclaimed. They looked at their mother.
"You must find fun in watching me repeat myself." Elaine's brows squinted as she scolded them.
Marcus was not happy about this but had to leave. Gerard didn't think much of it. He left, too.
Jada, who has been quiet all along, followed suit. There were a lot of things going through her mind.
"You stay." Elaine called at Jada.
Jada stopped for a moment, caught off guard by the exception.
"Meet me in your room." Elaine led the way.
As soon as Jada followed Elaine, Marcus opened the door and stole his way towards the room that the two had gone. He knew that something was up but he didn't know what really was.
He got to the door and pressed his ear to the door. Suddenly, the door was pushed open. He lost his balance and almost fell away.
"How can I ever take you seriously when you act like a thief!" Elaine snapped at him. "You better watch out or your younger brother will take your place."
After this, Elaine slammed the door in his face.
Marcus felt really embarrassed and insulted by what his mother had just said. He could never have imagined that she would say something like that to him!
Elaine walked to a swan chair in the spacious and beautiful room of Jada. She settled into the chair and looked towards Jada.
Jada stood there like a log of wood. She was yet to sort her thoughts.
"Are you just going to stand there or will you ask the question?" Elaine probed.
"Huh?" Jada quizzed.
When she realised that her mother didn't say anything else, she cleared her throat.
"How did it happen?" Jada finally asked, after putting the thoughts together.
"How did what happen?" Elaine feigned ignorance.
"You've always pushed aside my idea of wanting to divorce Jaai. How were you able to pull this stunt in a short period of time? The divorce paper, the plot, the maid, everything... I was so clueless and speechless." Jada decided to let all her thoughts out.
Before Jada accepted to go out with the director, she had thought about it for several weeks. She was scared of what her mother would do if she finds out! After she agreed to see the director, she had begged to keep it private until she convinces her mother to get Jaai to sign a divorce paper.
Now, seeing that her mother had pulled the plot so randomly and within a short period of time, Jada indeed had every reason to feel bamboozled and speechless.
"Pour me a drink." Elaine asked.
Jada quickly hurried to her private bar and poured a half glass of tequila. She handed it to her mom respectfully.
"Did you really think that you hate Jaai more than I do?" Elaine asked. "An adopted loser whom father places above my own daughter!"
"I know you hate him, but I didn't know why you kept holding back the divorce thing." Jada made her confusion known.
"You sound foolish. Don't you know how much father loves him? Are we going to act unjustly against him and make him a martyr at the end of the day? Are we not going to wait for the perfect moment?" Elaine asked.
Jada was mute for a while.
"Go prepare for the charity event. We need to win a lot of favors today. If we can't be the favorite of your grandpa, at least we can strive to be the favorite of the Lady Phoenix." Elaine added. "We must fall on the list of the Rowan family. That's the only way we can get a contract on the new project of Eclipse Grande."
Jada nodded after this, then walked towards the door.
"Are you having an affair with that director?" Elaine asked out of the blue.
Jada froze at the door. Her face suddenly became pale. The person she feared the most was her mother. She'd rather offend the grandpa than offend her mother.
She quickly got a grip of herself and turned to her.
"If I do, I wouldn't hide it from." Jada replied with a straight face.
Elaine didn't give a precise reaction. She just kept her gaze on Jada. Jada nodded then turned to leave.
"You know I'll find out eventually." Elaine warned.
Jada nodded again then walked out.
