[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]
Third Person POV
Val Drahzûn.
...
...
Madara waited until he regained a bit of his breath. There was nothing alive left in that region.
Most of the dragons had been killed by the Susanoo before the attack happened, and when the explosion occurred, their bodies simply disappeared. Even those who were still alive were caught in the explosion and had their bodies obliterated.
He knew that, in the Valley of Dragons, they should be keeping an eye on him, and this was confirmed when the clone he had left with Ignavros appeared at his side through teleportation.
"You are in a terrible condition," replied the wood clone.
Madara merely shrugged, still kneeling until that moment, but began to stand up.
"We dealt with the demon, but at a high cost," the original Madara said.
"True, we killed many dragons tonight... The dragons may blame you, which would not be far from the truth. After all, we did not expect the demon to react this way," the clone said.
"I did." Madara nodded, he had intended to go after Gaunter through the contract he had with Olgierd's soul, but it seems that this angered Gaunter more than I had predicted. But it no longer matters. The dragons lost a third of their population in this, but they will still be fine, they will only take a few centuries to recover.
"In any case, you managed to make contact with them after everything, without needing to kill them in a crueler way, here at least you seemed to be freeing them..." said the clone.
He could have met Ignavros and his companion, the dragon he controlled imprisoned in the Dwarves' Mountain, as well as the ancient dragon he met living in the lower parts of the valley.
But Madara would certainly have had to wage war against them if he appeared before the golden dragons, they would be too proud to accept a human in their territory like that. He would probably have to kill a few dozen of them until they realized he could not be defeated, thus earning their fear and respect.
"I will return. I need your chakra," Madara said.
The clone nodded, transferring all the chakra he had to Madara while he relieved some of his own exhaustion. At least now he could teleport and manifest a Susanoo if he needed to face the dragons still, but he needed to speak with them.
Then he disappeared and reappeared atop the head of his summon, while standing before multiple dragons, all staring at Madara in his human form.
"Is it you?" the ancient dragons asked. They saw the clone disappear, saying that he would find the original and that the fight seemed to have already ended.
"Yes, I am the original," Madara replied.
"So the battle has ended, human? You emerged victorious, it seems. Some of the dragons who were still being controlled and kept here imprisoned appear to have returned to their senses, which shows that you defeated the creature you were fighting."
Madara nodded. "The demon has been sealed. He will no longer be a nuisance to anyone," Madara said.
After all, no one could remove him now that he was in the Shinigami's stomach.
"Now what are your intentions, human? We saw you killing dozens of our kind as if they were nothing. I know you have a contract with this inferior dragon, but even so, we need to know who you are and whether you have any intentions toward us." One of the golden dragons said.
"Calm yourself, Burk." An ancient dragon intervened. "Perhaps asking that kind of question now is not appropriate. Like it or not, we were just saved by this human, for if he had not interfered, we would have suffered far more casualties than we did tonight. And we saw the battle he fought against that creature... I do not think anyone here could deal with that...".
"But we still need to ask. We will mourn the dead afterward and then understand what happened, but first we need to know whether this human has ill intentions toward us," a golden female dragon said.
A shadow came from the sky before Madara could respond, and all the dragons immediately began to retreat. Even Ignavros, who had a headache, seemed to shudder. Madara looked at the dragon who was much larger than the others. This one was at least one hundred and fifty meters long, the size of a castle, as she circled the area before beginning to land.
Madara looked on curiously. He knew very well the identity of that dragon. It was a female dragon. He had heard this from that ancient dragon years ago. He had even written it in the book he created as records about the dragons. That was the Alpha Dragon, who at that time was a female dragon, the queen of the dragons, in other words.
Her Majesty, Pyraethra, as the elder had said. She was an entirely red dragon.
She landed while everyone immediately moved aside.
"I was dealing with the dragons below, which is why I was not here during the commotion. But I quickly heard what happened, human, and we also saw your battle from a distance. You are certainly nothing like what we have heard about humans. I have never seen a human before. And I must say your race is quite impressive," she said with interest.
"I would not say that. At least, no human is that strong. You could say that I am an outlier, born as the last of my clan," Madara replied.
Clearly, that female dragon who approached was on a different level, while he seemed like an ant before the enormous draconic face.
"So there is no human more powerful than you in the world, human?" she asked.
She was clearly cautious. Madara could understand her concern, that if humans were that powerful, they could simply exterminate them.
"My queen, I was in the human world one hundred years ago. Certainly there is no one with such power," one of the dragons said.
"Silence. I want to hear the human's answer," the Dragon Queen roared at her companions, who stepped back.
Ignavros was trembling. Madara wanted to kick him. When he had faced several dragons and trusted him to protect him, now he was trembling before the alpha of his race.
"I am the most powerful human in the world. So do not worry about our race starting a war with you. I do not desire such a thing, but I will also interfere if you attack humans as happened tonight."
The alpha dragon stared at him with her red reptilian eyes, studying Madara for a long time, until she snorted. "I understand," she murmured.
"Now, as my companion here said," she spoke, directing her gaze to the golden dragon who had spoken before her arrival, "what are your intentions toward our race, do you have any plans for us?"
There was a challenge in the air. It seemed that, if Madara declared himself an enemy, they would fight right there. But Madara merely shook his head.
"I am not your enemy. At least not unless you attack the human world or harm someone I know. I have nothing against your valley. I have been here a few times, only with the intention of getting to know it, even if some dragons tried to eat me," Madara said, lifting his foot and stepping on Ignavros.
He could not help but remember the dragon who had tried to devour him when Madara was flying with his griffin, Totó, the first time they met. Ignavros said nothing, only shrank back. He would certainly regret that day for the rest of his life.
"You have been here before?" the queen seemed surprised.
"I remember that incident, my queen. The inferior dragons began to complain that there was a human in the territory and they all started looking for him. That was more than a year ago," said a golden dragon.
The queen looked at him seriously.
"And why was I not informed about this?" she asked, while the dragon in question shrank back.
"We had heard, but after a search using magic we did not find any more trace of your presence. Therefore we did not care much and there was no need to pass this on to you, my queen," the dragon said.
The queen clearly did not like that information. A human in her territory was something she should have known.
"In any case, I am already leaving. There is nothing more here. I know you have to deal with your dead, and I am returning to the human world. I am sorry for what happened tonight. It was a demon I was already hunting. I just did not imagine he would do something like this, such as trying to control your race. I slaughtered many of you, and if you want revenge, I will be open to facing anyone, as long as you do not harm other humans, I will accept any fight for revenge from you," Madara said.
Madara had clearly threatened them.
"Now I will be leaving. After all, just as you have to deal with what that demon did here, I will deal with the chaos created in the human world." With that, Madara simply disappeared without saying anything more, while the dragons kept staring at Ignavros' head, who was not at all comfortable with the attention of the other dragons superior to him. But it was not exactly at him that they were looking, but rather at his forehead, where no one was anymore.
"He is gone..." the queen murmured.
In the south.
Madara appeared in the Temple of Melitele as he fell in the middle of the people there, taking everyone by surprise as they looked at him lying on his back on the floor, practically motionless, his black eyes staring at the ceiling.
"Madara!" Ciri exclaimed immediately, approaching him, supporting her own belly as she leaned down to see if her husband was well.
"I have never been so exhausted..." Madara murmured when he felt like that. Perhaps only when he fought that witcher from the School of the Viper, when he was eight years old, hired by one of the great lords of Cintra, out of revenge, after his son had been killed and the lord wanted Madara as the culprit. He hired the witcher from the School of the Viper.
"Are you alright?" Ciri insisted, staring at him with concern.
Madara merely gave a smile while, around him, people approached, worried and curious.
"I am very well," he said, beginning to let out a laugh before bursting into laughter.
That feeling of exhaustion after facing an enemy of that level was addictive. Destructive battles that could change entire landscapes and maps... It was nothing tedious like it had been over the last ten years, when he dealt with his enemies easily, without even breaking a sweat.
"Fighting a demon and dozens of dragons, protecting cities and waging war in the Valley of Dragons, that is what pushed me to my limit." He said, laughing.
"Are you really fine? You are smiling like a madman," Ciri murmured, dissatisfied.
Madara looked at her. "It is over. I dealt with the demon, and the dragons are no longer a threat," he said.
"Come, I will help you lie down. You pushed yourself too hard tonight," Ciri said with relief.
She had not seen how the battle had ended, but she had seen her husband fighting that giant creature of fire.
"First let me replenish my chakra," Madara said.
His clone appeared at that moment. It was the clone that still had more chakra. As he placed his hand on Madara's shoulder, he began transferring all the remaining chakra. Madara easily recovered part of his strength and, when it was over, he already seemed much better as he stood up.
"I have never seen you so exhausted," Geralt murmured. Seeing someone like Madara tired certainly showed how the situation had been.
"It is not every day that you face a demon and dozens of dragons... But, in any case, it is over. Vesemir, you look depressed," Madara said, leaning on Ciri, who insisted on placing his arm over her shoulders, even while pregnant.
Vesemir did not speak for a moment, only sighed.
"Kaer Morhen can be rebuilt. I know you were proud of what we repaired in the castle over the past few years... but we can rebuild." Madara said.
"We will deal with that tomorrow. For now, what I need is to rest a little. The threat of the dragons is already gone, and we also no longer need to worry about a dark creature hunting us." With those words, everyone nodded.
Madara went with Ciri to the bedroom. Before lying down, he took a bath, even in his condition. He needed it. He teleported to a stream near the temple, dove into the water, and returned to the bedroom a few minutes later.
Ciri was already waiting for him in bed. He joined her, touching her exposed belly.
"Is it over?" she asked, as if she still doubted that everything had truly ended with Gaunter, that he could still be a threat.
But he was gone. Now they had one less problem. "Yes," Madara replied, as they fell asleep together.
