Chapter 543: Rebellion?
Having already found himself a seat, Steven leaned back as he observed the middle-aged man before him—the one he considered a true "dragon" demi-human in every sense.
Compared to this man named Wei Yenwu, someone like Talulah felt more like a girl who just happened to have a dragon-like characteristic. Setting aside her tail and horns, there was little about her that truly embodied the essence of a dragon
But the man in front of him? Unlike Talulah, he's like a real dragon who just happened to have human-like characteristics, the opposite of Talulah.
"Honestly," Steven said casually, a faint smile tugging at his lips, "that depends on how much you're willing to pay and what kind of identity you expect me to take when dealing with you."
Instead of denying anything outright, he tossed the question back. Everything Wei Yenwu had mentioned about his "identities" was true… but none of them were the full picture.
Wei Yenwu chuckled lightly at that.
"You do have quite the sense of humor." He sat down across from Steven, giving a slight nod of thanks to Lin Yuxia, who had just served him a cup of tea. Then, without wasting time, he got straight to the point.
"If I were to purchase enough weapons from you to fully equip the entire Guard Department… what kind of identity would that allow you to assume when dealing with me?"
On his way here, Wei Yenwu had already exchanged information with Kojui and Lin Yuxia. He now understood that the so-called "firearms" Steven possessed were no weaker than Laterano guns. As for those bombs without Originium reactions—their potential applications were practically limitless.
If Steven could truly supply such a massive order, then there was no reason to refuse the deal.
That was precisely why Wei Yenwu had rushed here without delay.
After all, the current state of Lungmen… well, internally, everything was thriving and prosperous. But externally, threats were mounting from all sides.
And tools like these—tools that could instantly elevate Lungmen's overall strength—were exactly what he needed right now.
"Ah, no rush," Steven waved a hand lazily. "My goods aren't exactly cheap. Sure, you don't look like someone who can't afford them, but there's something I'd like to understand first."
His gaze sharpened slightly.
"What exactly do you intend to do with these weapons?"
A typical arms dealer wouldn't care what their goods were used for. But Steven wasn't a pure businessman—so naturally, his curiosity got the better of him.
Lungmen was massive, yes—but it didn't seem like a place on the brink of war.
For maintaining internal order, the Guard Department and the Rat King already kept both the light and dark sides firmly in check. There shouldn't be any need for firearms on such a scale.
And yet, Wei Yenwu had opened with a request of this magnitude…
At this point, even if someone claimed he was preparing to wage a small-scale war, Steven would believe it without hesitation.
After all, these weren't Laterano guns that required complex Originium Arts or user compatibility. These were weapons that anyone who could pull a trigger could use.
Which meant—every gun in hand translated directly into immediate combat power.
Not to mention, in this strange land, even ordinary people possessed physical abilities far superior to those in his original world. Handling recoil, aiming—these things could be mastered with minimal training.
In short, give them the weapons, and you'd instantly have an army.
"Weapons," Wei Yenwu replied solemnly, "are meant to fulfill their purpose."
He met Steven's gaze steadily.
"But rest assured, these will never be used for senseless slaughter. And I will not disclose your involvement to anyone."
Steven shook his head, letting out a soft laugh.
"No, no, you misunderstand. What you use them for is your business." He leaned back slightly, tone turning more casual again.
"I'm just curious. Lungmen doesn't look like it's heading toward conflict anytime soon. If I sell to you, it might take years before you come back for another purchase."
He smirked.
"So naturally… I'll have to raise the price a bit."
"Of course," Steven added casually, "if you're planning a rebellion, I could even throw in some extra firearms for free. As for ammunition… well, some discount is negotiable."
Lungmen wasn't like Iberia or Ursus, where people could pass the time fighting off Collapsals or Seaborn. If there was any situation here that required such a massive amount of firearms…
Aside from rebellion, Steven genuinely couldn't think of anything else.
"…What exactly are you saying? I don't understand, and I didn't hear anything." Wei Yenwu's expression tightened instantly. "Please watch your words. Given your… identity, if something like that were overheard, do you realize the kind of consequences it would bring?"
He looked like he was just one step away from physically covering Steven's mouth.
Never in his wildest expectations had he imagined that Steven would dare to openly suggest something so utterly untouchable—something that couldn't even be brushed against, let alone spoken aloud.
And with him—the ruler of Lungmen—present, no less.
If this conversation were somehow recorded… there was no telling what his younger brother might seize upon as an opportunity to stir up trouble.
Almost instinctively, Wei Yenwu glanced at the others in the room. After confirming that only Kojui and his daughter—two people he could more or less trust—were present, he finally allowed himself to relax, just a little, from the tension that had seized him the moment those words left Steven's mouth.
"Hm?" Steven tilted his head, completely unfazed by the warning. "Don't tell me you're buying all these guns for anything other than that?"
He continued as if nothing had happened.
"With this kind of quantity—even if you wiped out all of Lungmen's underworld, including the two standing behind you, you'd still have plenty of bullets left over, wouldn't you?"
Wei Yenwu's warning had gone in one ear and out the other.
After all, this man before him was the ruler of all Lungmen, traveling with an entourage like those black-clad figures in straw raincoats Steven had seen before. Combine that kind of presence with his already prestigious lineage among Yan… Steven simply refused to believe there wasn't some ambition lurking beneath the surface.
And if that was the case, why not just lay everything out in the open?
That way, afterward, he might even find a way to sell another batch of weapons to Yan's official forces as well.
