Chapter 544: Let the Facts Speak
"Hold on."
Before Steven could continue down his train of thought, Wei Yenwu suddenly stood up and cut him off.
He was truly at a loss with Steven's habit of saying whatever came to mind. Even if those things were true… this was hardly the place to say them out loud.
Still, Wei Yenwu had also indirectly confirmed something—Steven likely could provide the sheer volume of weapons he claimed. After all, if he were bluffing, there'd be no need to casually bring up such dangerous topics.
"Let's treat this as a normal transaction," Wei Yenwu said with a polite smile, steering the conversation away. "There's no need to dwell on anything else, wouldn't you agree? For now, I'd prefer to hear more about these so-called 'firearms' you possess."
His tone was calm, but his intent was clear.
Hearing was one thing—but seeing for himself was another. No matter what Steven said, Wei Yenwu wouldn't commit to such a purchase without personally verifying their effectiveness.
"Well, take your time then. I don't have much to explain anyway."
Since the other party had no intention of continuing the previous topic, Steven simply shrugged and went along with it. Right in front of Wei Yenwu, he began laying out a variety of firearms one by one on the table.
"I'm guessing you already know how to use these," Steven added casually. "What you want to confirm… is probably the same thing I'm thinking, right?"
Without hesitation, he picked up a handgun and directly pointed it at Wei Yenwu's head.
Lin Yuxia's expression changed instantly—she was just about to spring forward to stop him.
But before she could act, Steven casually flipped the gun around and offered it grip-first to Wei Yenwu.
As an arms dealer, Steven understood perfectly well the strengths and weaknesses of his products in this world. And as the saying went—what is real cannot be destroyed by trial. He had no problem letting Wei Yenwu test them firsthand.
Wei Yenwu, for his part, accepted the handgun without the slightest change in expression.
The cold, metallic feel in his hand made it hard to believe this was a weapon meant to kill. But the moment he raised it, aimed at the shop door in the distance, and pulled the trigger—
Bang!
A thunderous shot echoed through the candy shop.
The deep furrow in Wei Yenwu's brow finally loosened, replaced by a trace of satisfaction. Just as Steven had said, rather than listening to exaggerated descriptions, testing it directly was far more efficient for understanding its true capabilities.
Aside from pulling the trigger and bracing slightly against the recoil, Wei Yenwu hadn't used a single trace of Originium Arts.
In other words, even a physically capable child could produce the same level of damage.
A faint smile appeared on his lips as his gaze swept across the table filled with firearms. He had a strong feeling that everything here would perform just like the one he had just tested.
Bending down, Wei Yenwu picked up the spent casing that had fallen to the ground. It was still warm to the touch.
He brought it closer, sniffing lightly. The faint burnt scent clinging to the brass casing was something he couldn't quite analyze.
This mysterious substance was undoubtedly the key to the weapon's destructive power.
And judging by Steven's complete lack of concern, it was clear he had no fear of Lungmen reverse-engineering the technology.
"So?" Steven leaned back with a grin. "That's actually one of the weaker ones. The longer ones can fire continuously."
He gestured lazily at the rest of the weapons on the table.
"And if you buy enough… I might even throw in a few launchers for free."
His smile widened slightly.
"Same thing that caused that explosion some time ago."
"…And what about the quantity I requested?" Wei Yenwu asked after a brief pause. "What you've shown here is far from enough."
He was still a little curious about how Steven had managed to casually pull out so many firearms from seemingly nowhere. But curiosity aside, this amount didn't even come close to meeting his earlier demand.
"You don't need to worry about that at all." Steven waved his hand confidently. "If you're serious about buying, I can even answer your earlier question."
He paused for a moment, then snapped his fingers.
"This deal… consider it done under my identity as the chairman of Block Consortium. As long as you want to buy…"
His lips curled into a grin.
"I'll always have enough supply."
As if to prove his words, Steven stood up. With a casual motion, he swept all the firearms on the table back out of sight.
And then, like a magician pulling off his grand finale, he produced an entire pile of rocket launchers right in front of Wei Yenwu.
They stacked higher and higher, until they were level with the roof of the candy shop.
For Steven, explanations were meaningless.
Facts spoke louder.
If even this wasn't enough to convince him, then there was no point continuing the deal.
At first, Wei Yenwu had been confused by Steven's actions.
But the moment he saw what appeared before him, his eyes widened.
He hadn't sensed even the slightest fluctuation of Originium Arts.
And yet, Steven had just conjured this mountain of weapons out of thin air.
With just this pile alone… leveling half of Lungmen wouldn't be difficult.
Slowly regaining his composure, Wei Yenwu suppressed the astonishment in his eyes. Then, turning to Steven, he spoke with unmistakable respect.
"I finally understand why Miss Kal'tsit described you with the word 'unfathomable.'"
He gave a slight nod.
"It seems, Mr. Steven… you truly live up to that evaluation."
"So," Steven said with a grin, "does that mean we have a deal?"
"Of course." Wei Yenwu's smile grew warmer as he extended his hand. "It would be my honor. What Lungmen lacks most… are business partners like you."
And with that, the two reached an agreement.
