A loud bell suddenly cut through the clamor of the Cultural Festival, slicing through the air of the entire venue. The students fell silent instantly, their eyes turning toward the stage in front of them.
The performing students had withdrawn at some point, replaced by a certain impressive upperclassman from the Duel Club. To his shame, Yugen still couldn't remember her actual name.
"Sudden Duel!" she announced into the microphone with a grin.
"It's time for the Cultural Festival's dueling segment! Everyone must randomly choose an opponent within thirty seconds! Every victory earns you one point, and the person with the highest score at the end of the event will receive a special prize prepared by the Duel Club!"

The scene went quiet for a heartbeat.
In that instant, Yugen felt a circle of gazes fall upon him, some intentional and others accidental. Within a single second, the atmosphere around him shifted violently.
It was as if a paused image had suddenly been set to double speed; every student frantically grabbed their Duel Disk and charged toward the nearest opponent they could find.
To them, it didn't matter who they fought. As long as they weren't caught by the Great Demon King, it counted as a win!
Yamamoto Yuichi of Ra Yellow blasted off like a mortar shell, heading full tilt toward an Obelisk Blue girl nearby. The girl was startled by his sheer momentum; judging by his murderous aura, she might have thought she was about to be pinned against a wall.
Indeed, this was Yamamoto Yuichi, the number one member of the Fujiki Yugen Victim Association among the new students.
At this moment, he realized with horror that he had been standing right next to the Great Demon King when the Sudden Duel event started.

Yuichi started to snap, "You motherfu"

"I activate the Trap Card 'Ojama Trio,' Special Summoning three Ojama Tokens to your side of the field."
"Next, I activate the Continuous Trap 'Rivalry of Warlords.' Since you have Beast-type Ojama Tokens on your field, you can no longer summon other types of monsters."
"Alright, it's your turn now. Go ahead with your play. Take your time, no rush."
The glasses guy: "..."
