When the Rangers had been summoned, they had expected to be involved in the next big operation. They had already proven themselves against some of the strongest fighters they had ever faced, and their victory over the top members of the Black Hand had given them confidence.
They no longer questioned whether they deserved to belong to a syndicate. Instead, they were beginning to understand that their own abilities and contributions helped make the Billion Bloodline worthy of that title.
Even without their exoskeleton equipment, the improvement was becoming clear. During training with the other members, including their exchanges with the Fallen Rose, they were sharper, faster, and stronger than before.
None of them had expected their next assignment to be babysitting.
"Here's your food, Mira," Stephen said, bringing a plate to the table. "If you need anything else, let me know. I'm the fastest one here."
