I lowered the phone, staring at the screen for a moment before pocketing it. I lit another cigarette, leaning back against the car, my mind working through the implications.
Dimitri was coming back. That meant something big was moving. Something he didn't trust anyone else to handle.
And Kairen... Kairen was spiraling. Meeting with people he shouldn't be meeting with. Making decisions he shouldn't be making.
I needed to know what he was planning.
My phone buzzed again.
I glanced at the screen, expecting the security team.
But it wasn't.
It was Jarek.
That obnoxious little bug. I wasn't ready for any conversation with him. Not concerning my real mission at least....
The phone rang louder now but I ignored it and exhaled smoke, watching it curl into the sky, and crushed the cigarette under my boot.
