Sasame gave his promise. But Hiashi Hyuga was clearly unable to make a decision. If he lost control of the Caged Bird Seal and the distinction between the Main and Branch Houses was gone, would his position as clan head be secure? Even if he could hold onto his position, what about his descendants? When it came down to it, Hiashi Hyuga was in a state of hesitation.
In fact, he was quite indecisive in the original story as well. He was somewhat similar to Fugaku Uchiha. However, he was luckier. The Caged Bird Seal was controllable. The Sharingan, however, was like a ticking time bomb. It was what ultimately led Fugaku Uchiha down a path of no return.
"Uncle Hiashi, think it over and come find me when you've made up your mind." Sasame said no more. The outcome was already decided. If Hiashi Hyuga was sensible, he would handle it with dignity. After all, he was Hinata Hyuga and Hanabi Hyuga's father. If he continued to be indecisive, Sasame wouldn't be so merciful. From the perspective of the Hokage, the abolition of the Caged Bird Seal would be more beneficial for Konoha Village's growth. There's no motivation without competition. The current Hyuga clan was like a stagnant pond, clinging to past glory and tradition, unwilling to change.
After Hiashi Hyuga left, Sasame thought of the Tenseigan. He had previously asked Kabuto Yakushi to research how to replicate the chakra of the Ōtsutsuki clan. He even provided him with various components like the remains of Kimimaro Kaguya, Hashirama's cells, and White Zetsu. Unfortunately, the difficulty was too high, and he hadn't made any significant progress yet. Sasame considered asking him to stop. After all, he had a more convenient and faster method. Sasame thought about it and decided against it. Kabuto Yakushi had already spent so much time on the research. For him, it was a labor of love. However, he could give him a little help.
Afternoon. Sasame called for Kurenai Yuhi. He glanced at her stocking-clad legs and asked with a smile, "Did you get a new pair of stockings?"
Kurenai Yuhi pouted. "If they're ripped, I have to change them, don't I?"
"What a shame," Sasame stroked his chin. "I think stockings with a tear in them would make you even sexier, Sister Kurenai."
"..." Kurenai Yuhi was speechless for a moment. She had realized that this young Hokage was not as innocent as he appeared. But she didn't dislike it. Kurenai Yuhi's eyes flickered. "If you like them, I'll give them to you," she said jokingly. She had learned to be bad.Sasame nodded. "Okay."
Kurenai Yuhi was stunned. She was just teasing him. After all, what normal person would want a pair of used stockings?
"What, Sister Kurenai, are you going back on your word?" Sasame said, smiling with his arms crossed. The people in this world were simply more innocent. Kurenai Yuhi's face immediately flushed red at his teasing. She hesitantly took out the pair of stockings. "You... you're going to do bad things with them..." she said, stammering.
"What bad things?" Sasame took them. They were still warm.
"It's... just..." Kurenai Yuhi's face looked unnatural.
"Rob a bank with a mask?" Sasame chuckled.
"..." Kurenai Yuhi stomped her foot, a little annoyed. She realized Sasame was teasing her.
"Hokage-sama, why did you call me here?" Kurenai Yuhi stiffly changed the subject, her face serious. The lingering blush, however, betrayed her true feelings.
"First, let me give you a gift as an apology," Sasame said, taking out a square gift box. Kurenai Yuhi was slightly startled. An apology? She wasn't angry. On the contrary, she felt this kind of banter brought them closer. But she didn't refuse. She walked over and took the gift.
"Thank you," Kurenai Yuhi's lips curved.
"You're welcome," Sasame said with a compliment. "You've worked hard as a secretary, Sister Kurenai."
"What's the real business?" Kurenai Yuhi asked, holding the gift.
"Keep an eye on the Hyuga clan. Report any movements to me." Sasame didn't trust Hiashi Hyuga, or rather, his personality. If something happened, he would probably try to solve it internally.
"Okay," Kurenai Yuhi nodded. She didn't ask for the reason. After she left the Hokage's Office, she opened the gift box in the hallway. Seeing the black stockings, she couldn't help but blush and quickly closed the box.
"Hmph, so he's a..." Kurenai Yuhi held the gift and returned to her office.
Sasame went to the research building.
"Hokage-sama," Ichikishimahime saw him and quickly greeted him.
"How old are you?" Sasame asked curiously, looking at her loli-like appearance.
"I must be over two hundred," Ichikishimahime answered. "I've forgotten the exact age."
"Ryūchi Cave's transformation jutsu is truly amazing. It's so realistic," Sasame squatted down, pinched her chin, and said with emotion.
"It's identical to a human," Ichikishimahime was a little uncomfortable with being touched and instinctively looked away.
"Where are the other two Snake Princesses?" Sasame let go of her chin, then kneaded her face. It was as she said; the texture was no different from a human's. In a sense, she was a yokai.
"They're following your orders to test other ninjas for Sage Mode talent," Ichikishimahime endured the discomfort and answered. If it were anyone else, she would have devoured them long ago. How could she tolerate such insolence?
"Did you find anyone?" Sasame asked with some anticipation.
"Not yet," Ichikishimahime shook her head.
"What a shame," Sasame sighed. "How's Kabuto doing?"
"He's very talented," Ichikishimahime's voice showed a hint of surprise when she mentioned Kabuto Yakushi. He was one of the few contractors she had seen who could compare to Orochimaru. He was practicing Sage Mode very quickly.
Sasame stood up and stopped at the doorway. He turned to Ichikishimahime. "One more question, how long is your tongue?"
"..." Ichikishimahime was puzzled but still answered, "Eighteen centimeters."
Sasame raised an eyebrow, then pushed open the door and entered the room.
"How do you feel?"
"Never better," Kabuto Yakushi opened his eyes. "Sage Mode is truly amazing. I should have learned it sooner."
"Now that you've learned Sage Mode, can you improve Orochimaru's cursed seal?" Sasame explained. "If you can reduce the side effects to a certain extent, it would be a powerful tool for many ninjas."
"Indeed," Kabuto Yakushi pondered. "It's difficult, but I should be able to reduce many of the side effects."
"Try it when you have time." Sasame reached out, and chakra condensed. Kabuto Yakushi was puzzled but then showed a shocked expression. He stood up. "What kind of chakra is this?!" With his strength, he could sense a mortal threat. The amount of chakra was small, not even at a genin level, but its power was ridiculously high.
"It's the chakra of the Ōtsutsuki clan," Sasame said with a smile.
"How do you have it?" Kabuto Yakushi's eyes widened. He leaned in, observing it closely.
"It was a lucky encounter," Sasame stopped the chakra output. "I'll leave this chakra here for you. It should last for a long time."
"Excellent. With this, my research progress will accelerate," Kabuto Yakushi said excitedly. A moment later, he said, "I also need a pair of Byakugan."
"No problem," Sasame thought, What a coincidence. Hiashi Hyuga, the clan head's Byakugan. He wouldn't be needing it. He would take it to avoid wasting it. Kabuto Yakushi didn't ask whose Byakugan it was. In his eyes, it didn't matter. In this regard, he was quite similar to Orochimaru.
Speaking of him, Sasame had something he needed his help with. He closed the door and left the lab.
"Hokage-sama," Ichikishimahime was still guarding the door. Practicing Sage Mode had a chance of turning into a snake. She had to ensure Kabuto Yakushi's safety. Otherwise, if something happened, Ryūchi Cave would be in trouble.
"You've worked hard," Sasame reached out and ruffled her hair. Ichikishimahime could only comply.
Orochimaru's hideout. It had been completely converted into a laboratory. No one would say anything about it. It wasn't like before, when he had to hide.
Jiraiya frowned, looking at the unconscious middle-aged man nearby.
"Orochimaru, what are you doing?"
"An experiment," Orochimaru said, glancing at him.
"Don't you know this violates Konoha's rules?" Jiraiya's face darkened at his nonchalant tone.
"The Hokage approved it," Orochimaru licked his lips. "Sasame is much more likable than the old man." Hmm, if he could be his test subject, that would be even better. He had long wanted to know the secret behind his Wood Release. Was it the same as Hashirama Senju's?
"What are you saying?" Jiraiya was stunned. "How can he allow such experiments on people?!"
"They're already dead anyway," Orochimaru sneered. "Did you come here just to criticize me? Jiraiya, you're too naive."
"What if I made you Hokage?" Jiraiya asked tentatively.
"Hokage?" Orochimaru scoffed. "Do you think I care about being Hokage?" After Minato Namikaze became Hokage, the position became worthless to him.
"..." Jiraiya was speechless. Although he had expected this, Orochimaru's bluntness still hurt him. After all, in his heart, they were brothers and close friends. Should he go to Tsunade? Jiraiya sighed. But Sasame was her student. And he could tell that Tsunade was very fond of him. She saw him as her younger brother, Nawaki. He didn't know how Tsunade would react if he told her.
"You should leave now," Orochimaru's eyes flickered. "Sasame is outside." Jiraiya looked at him. His attitude said it all. Thinking of this, he didn't stay. He truly didn't want to see Sasame now.
Orochimaru stopped his experiment and walked to the living room.
"Lord Jiraiya left?" Sasame asked with a chuckle. With his current strength, unless it was Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, no one could hide from him.
"Yes," Orochimaru nodded. "What do you need me for?"
"The Wood Release awakening experiment," Sasame said, not wanting to talk about Jiraiya anymore.
"There are no results," Orochimaru said indifferently. "I told you before that this experiment is very unlikely to succeed."
"I know, but I've found a way. I need your cooperation," Sasame said casually.
"You have a way?" Orochimaru's face showed surprise. This was genuine surprise. He had conducted the experiment himself and knew it was almost impossible.
"Just have her ingest this," Sasame reached out, and a small red pill appeared in his palm.
"What is it?" Orochimaru almost instinctively leaned in and took it.
"It's a secret," Sasame blinked. "As compensation, I'll allow you to study it for a week."
"Good," Orochimaru agreed without hesitation.
"In a week, perform the surgery at Konoha Hospital," Sasame paused. "Remember to make it look real." Orochimaru nodded, his eyes fixed on the red pill. This was actually the Wood Release talent he had redeemed. He had to rely on the Destiny Halo to activate it. If Orochimaru could actually figure it out, Sasame would be genuinely impressed. But it would likely be a futile effort.
Sasame went straight home. There was nothing else to do at the Hokage's Office. Besides, it was time to get off work.
To his surprise, there was one more person at home. Mikoto Uchiha. Sasame was a little startled. She and Tsunade were discussing how to raise a child. Mikoto Uchiha had two children, so she was very experienced. Sasame felt a strong sense of contradiction watching this scene. He wondered how Tsunade had explained who Chiharu was. Even though Mikoto Uchiha already knew.
Sasame took off his shoes and walked into the living room. "Aunt Mikoto, what brings you here?"
"Hokage-sama," Mikoto Uchiha smiled gently. "I was just bored, so I came to visit Tsunade-sama."
"I see," Sasame reached out and touched Chiharu. "Was she a good girl today?"
"Very good," Tsunade glanced at him. "You go cook. Don't interrupt my conversation with Aunt Mikoto."
"Where's Shizune-san?" Sasame was a little surprised.
"She's performing a surgery," Tsunade waved her hand. Sasame had no choice but to go to the kitchen.
Not long after, Mikoto Uchiha knocked on the kitchen door.
"Aunt Mikoto," Sasame said, rubbing her ample thigh.
"I need to use the restroom," Mikoto Uchiha said, her breathing a little heavy.
"I'll help," Sasame picked her up. "Tell me, what's wrong?" He didn't believe Mikoto Uchiha's excuse. Visit Tsunade? Their relationship wasn't that close.
Mikoto Uchiha rested her head on his neck and exhaled. "I bought a new kimono. I wanted you to see it." So she missed him. Sasame chuckled and wiped the sweat from her forehead. "I'll go when I have time."
"What do you think our child will be? A boy or a girl?" Mikoto Uchiha's legs subtly tightened. She was a woman who exuded maternal love.
"Either is fine," Sasame glanced at the door. "Go and join Tsunade."
