Immediately after Shurry gave the order, the Vanguard took off, then the midguard, followed by the rearguard. Descending through the path to the 51st floor, and then slaughtering their way through taking a slightly roundabout way towards Cadmus, killing the monster with a little help from the midguard, before moving on.
Finn was about to say something as they approached the 52nd floor, but he also wanted to see if Shurry really knew what he was talking about, internally he declared he would make sure nothing happened to Loki.
Running through the path leading through the 52nd floor, the bombardments from the 58th floor began. Running through each floor in sequence, the party weaved around the columns of fire. Each of them managed to barely dodge, no longer thanks to call outs from a commander with impeccable senses and timing, but rather just the sheer ability to sense it themselves.
Monsters occasionally go in the way of their advance, but that's what the vanguard was for, they cut down everything in the way. Well, mostly everything, there were a handful of times where one or two members were caught by a hidden monster, though they were freed rather quickly either by another of the vanguard doubling back, or by a timely intervention by the midguard.
The threat from behind was far worse, for as the party moved, the monsters would try to pincer them from the rear. This was the reason for the strongest to be guarding from that direction, because for all intents and purposes, guarding the rear was no different than guarding a retreating line… Freya was impressed by the formation, her war goddess side clearly thrilled by the strategic sense.
"Thunder Snake on your right Ais!" Tiona shouted.
"Venom Scorpion ahead, Allen!" Bete shouted.
"Silver Snake on your left, Bete!" Tione said, dodging her own monster, and then a Valgang blast from below.
"They're so many of them…" Hestia murmured from afar.
"Don't worry, Hestia. I can obliterate everything within a kilomeder of here if I wanted to. You're not in any real danger." Shurry explained, then sighed. "Though you're right, there's not enough firepower up front. Ilta, Shakti, move to the vanguard line and push out the enemy."
"Hell ya! It's about time! Let's go sister!" Ilta grinned, feeling the slightly boosted power from the new level. "I'm gonna break all of them!"
Shakti let out a short, exasperated sigh. "Alright, but don't let me catch you all slacking after this." She said before joining the vanguard.
With the additional members to the frontline, the monsters were far easier to pick off. And progress continued forward. Clearing the 52nd floor, the 53rd, and the 54th within an hour of constant fighting.
Normally, it would be a smaller party going through here, and thus they could move significantly faster, but right now the group was massive and they wanted to really experience growth. Fighting what they would soon find out was every single monster on the floor, each floor. The reason why they were fighting all of the monsters, simply, Shurry's wolves were herding them over specifically to make the job harder.
By the time the expedition team reached the 58th floor, most were exhausted already, but that didn't matter, Shurry simply restored their stamina to full again.
"This is your reward for pushing so hard for so long. Now use your new team work to slaughter every single monster on this floor, without my aid in herding them to us like the last floors." Shurry explained, dropping the bombshell reason on everyone.
"You were purposely herding the monsters to us?" Finn trembled, both furious and annoyed.
"Yes."
"Why would you?" Finn grumbled.
"If you have to ask that, then perhaps you really are capped at level 7… A shame, guess I wasted my time on you." Shurry sighed.
"Finn! While I can't tell you the reason right now, I can say this; you should trust him." Bell said, before diving into a monster slaying frenzy. "Never for a single moment distrust the training you've received, and strive ever forward."
Ais felt a small smile come to her lips… Ryuu on the other hand felt embarrassed since she's the one who basically told him that verbatim. Finn was left speechless, then twirled his spear, the spare one the supporters had been carrying until his other one had an unfortunate accident against Shurry's chest.
"Hey, Finn, what are you waiting for? These monsters aren't going to kill themselves." Gareth laughed.
It didn't take long after that the whole expedition party cleared every monster on the floor, but Bell didn't bother advancing yet. He knew that Shurry wasn't satisfied with the performance when he saw him with crossed arms eyeing the battle.
"HEY BIG UGLY! GET YOUR SORRY OVERGROWN LIZARD BUTT OUT HERE!" Bell roared out a powerful shout, and immediately began to feel embarrassed when so many eyes fell on him. "Uh? Hmm, it's not coming out?"
Ais came over to Bell, gave him a stare, then blinked a few times she had to ask… "Bell, what was that for?" She tilted her head slightly.
"Uhm, there's another monster on this floor…"
"There is?" Finn asked, cleaning his spear. "Where is it?"
"It's the monster rex of this floor."
"There's a rex on this floor?"
"That's right. I've heard of it before."
"Is this true, Shurry?" Leon asked, over hearing Bell's claim. "Is there really a monster rex here?"
"Why else do you think I haven't started moving yet? Clearly you haven't finished clearing the floor yet. Have fun with this one. Oh, and don't worry, if it spawns in with anything more than you can handle, I'll give you a little bit of a buff."
"Huh?"
"By the way, Bell, remember how I said I called it to spawn last time?"
Bell thought about it, and then took in a deep breath. "YOU BIG UGLY REVERSED SCALE OVERGROWN LIZARD! COME OUT NOW!"
The floor began shaking with violent intention. A massive wave of pressure filled the whole floor. It was clearly an incredibly powerful monster rex. Specifically, it was a High level 10 monster. With the ability to give everyone a debuff generated via fear, one that settled deep within their very souls, the moment the dragon roared out.
"Kill this idiot dragon, and we can continue forward. Fail in this task, and you shall not pass." Shurry said, and then chuckled slightly.
