Chapter 18 - Ch 18: Becoming a Mid Level Knight

While dismantling, Weiss thought about some of the problems that she was currently facing. One of the main ones was the lack of good weapons in the territory.

Most of the weapons be it swords or bows available in the village and castle were old and brittle. And as this place had no blacksmiths, Weiss could only get them from other territories.

Other than that, Weiss also needed better equipments if she wanted to continue with her research on the herbs and flora of this region.

But everything that the Souran territory had were old and outdated.

That was why Weiss was planning to leave the village for some time and to go to a nearby city to get all these things. But she was unable to do so for the time being.

The reason for that was a sense of danger that she had been feeling from quite some time. As her secret art had specially boosted her perception, this kind of danger sense was not baseless for her.

From the intensity of the danger, Weiss could feel that the source of it was not a knight apprentice but a real offical knight.

As currently she was the only knight present in the territory, she could not just leave it with this danger hanging over it.

That was why, Weiss was waiting. She was waiting for the danger to come closer and then she could try to solve it. Only then would she be able to leave the village with a peaceful mind.

Weiss could feel that the danger was getting closer and closer to the village everyday, so fortunately she would not need to wait for too long.

Her senses were also telling her that lf she did not take care of this trouble in the bud, then the outcome of it would be very terrible.

But Weiss was not very worried about this. She had some confidence against even a mid grade knight if she used her territorial advantage properly.

...

After being done with the dismantling work, she returned to the castle secretly and locked herself in her room. Then she started to practice her secret art and her body started to glow with a green light.

The life core inside her had already shrunk by almost half of what it was at the beginning. So Weiss was on the verge of reaching the mid level knight relam.

After practicing for about an hour, her life core finally crossed the threshold of 50 percent and a change happened to Weiss's life force.

Particles of whites appeared alongside her green life force and It suddenly became more pure. The aura that Weiss was giving off also increased by quite a bit.

The boost that her attributes got from this change was also very prominent. So just like that, Weiss had managed to reach the mid level official knight realm.

As soon as her breakthrough was over, with her now strengthen perception, she was able to feel the danger even more clearly.

With the boost that her perception attribute had gotten, Weiss's range of sensing and her clarity of the senses had increased by quite a bit.

Previously, she was only able to vaguely tell from which direction the danger was coming from. But now, she was able to sense that more clearly.

Getting closer to it would probably make allow Weiss to even pinpoint the location of the person who the was source of this danger.

With this in mind, Weiss decided to take care of this trouble as soon as possible. She did not want this source to reach anywhere near the village. So taking care it away from the village was the best option.

But before doing that, Weiss needed to eat something. The breakthrough to the mid level knight realm had consumed a lot of energy, so currently Weiss was feeling insanely hungry.

So first she would get something to eat and then she would take care of the source of the danger that she had been feeling for the last week or so.

...

Karl was walking in a dense forest while being cautious about wild animals. As a knight, he did not fear any regular animals attacking him but if he was attacked by a monster, then even he would need to be careful.

This forest was also known to have quite a few monsters in it. So the chance of Karl encountering one was not low.

That was why he was ready for battle with his sword already in his hand and his senses hyper active to watch out for any danger.

He was currently not too far away from his target location, the village of Souran. Actually with how close he was, normally it would have taken him only a few hours to reach his destination.

But with this dense and dangerous forest in the way, he was unable to use horses or any other mounts. So the time he took travelling became much greater.

Actually there was a proper road leading to that Souran village but if he had taken it, the journey would have lasted for two or three extra day as that road was made in a roundabout way in order to avoid the dangerous monster filled forest.

That was something Karl did not want. If taking that road took more time then it was useless to him. He wanted to reach his playground as soon as possible.

That was why, even though the road through the forest was a bit dangerous, he decided to take it while having a complete believe in his own strength.

So far, he had only came across regular animals and no monsters. He had also already crossed the known most dangerous areas of the forest.

For that reason, Karl allowed his mind to relax just a little bit and started to think about the information that he had gotten in the village where he had stayed last night.

That village belonged to the territory of viscount Nortin who was a neighbour of baron Souran. That village named Nin also had some trade connections with the people of the Souran village.

That was how the villagers were had managed to get some news about the recent monster attack on the lord's Castle of the Souran territory and about the death of the previous baron Souran.
