Those villagers were also aware that the young daughter of the previous lord had taken over the role of the next baroness after everyone else from her family had failed to survive the monster attack.
All these informations were something that Karl already knew. Count Falgur had sent them over to the Night Crow alongside the job description.
But there was one piece of new information here. And that was about the existence of a black clad swordmaster.
This person was a knight who had managed to defeat a powerful bear like monster beast which was capable of killing another knight. So this person was definitely not weak.
Among the information that the count had sent over, there was no mention of this swordmaster. There was a report that someone strong had helped the little lady out but no one was sure who this mysterious person was.
Everyone including Karl had thought that this person would have left the Souran territory after saving the little lady. That was because there was truly nothing that a remote territory like this could offer to someone who was this powerful.
But now it looked like not only was this mysterious person was staying in that village, he had even bowed to the little princess showing his submission. If that was truly the case, this mission would become a bit more difficult for Karl.
Karl thought that the black clad mysterious swordmaster was most probably a freak who liked little children. Without that being the case, why would a powerful knight like him would submit to a little girl.
In that case, Karl started to plan if he could offer that person something in exchange for not interfering with whatever he was about to do in the village.
He was even willing to allow the swordmaster to have his fun with the little girl as long as he did not kill her. According to the order of the count, Karl needed to make sure that the little baroness was not killed in this incident.
Karl loved ladies just as much as the next guy but there was something that he loved much more. And that was to slaughter people who were weaker than him.
It had been quite a long since the last time when Karl had managed to indulge in his desires. And it would be very unlikely that he would get the chance to do something similar in the near future.
So it was very important for him to enjoy himself to the fullest during this mission. Or he might not get a chance again for a long time.
While thinking about this, the killing intent in his heart started burning even more fiercely. But then suddenly he felt a chill to run down his spine and he quickly jumped away from his location.
But before he could completely move out of the way, an arrow went past him and just graze him a little on his chick.
But if he had not tried to dodge following his intuition at the very last moment, then this arrow would have pierced right through his head. Even a knight with strong life force could not survive something like this.
The knight secret art that Karl practiced was called "Bloody Slaughter Secret Art". It primarily gave boost to strength and perception attributes while also boosting the dexterity lightly.
Secret arts capable of boosting perception were very rare. If Karl did not have a boosted perception, then that previous arrow would have been his death.
This danger immediately cooled down all the killing intent in Karl's heart and he became very focused.
Karl was an experienced killer with hundreds of kills under his belt. So he knew how he could keep his emotions under control.
Karl then immediately started to think about what he should do in this situation. His attacker was currently in the dark while he was in the open.
So, the very first thing he did was to run and find a good place to hide from the dangerous arrows. Directly getting hit by one would be very troublesome so he needed something to cover himself.
After that what he needed to do next was to detect the location of the attacker. If he wanted to leave this situation with his life intact then he could not allow the attacker to keep hiding.
As for how he was going to do it, the only way Karl was able to think off was to rely on his strong perception.
His perception was specialised for detecting killing intent targetting toward him. And as his attacker definitely wanted to kill him. So he should be able to easily detect the killing intent without much trouble.
While continuing hiding himself from the arrows, Karl focused on his sixth sense to detect any killing intent coming toward him. Immediately he was able to sense something.
But the amount of killing intent that he felt was miniscule. It was as if the person was not trying to kill him specifically but was trying to get rid of an annoying pest who was disturbing them. It was a very humiliating feeling.
Not only that but this killing intent was coming from all around him and not just from one spot. That could only mean that his attacker was moving around a lot. But even when Karl strained his ears, he was unable to hear any footsteps.
While he was trying to detect the killing intent, two more arrows were again shot toward him. Karl managed to dodge both of them at the nick of time but while doing so he was forced to move toward a certain direction.
Karl obviously did not want to follow the lead of the archer as it was definitely some kind of trap. But the arrows were just too well planned and executed.
So without being able to find the archer who was still hiding in the dark, Karl was powerless to do anything.
So after a few more shots of arrows and him barely dodging them, he suddenly found himself in a forest clearing.
This was a part of the forest that had significantly less trees. So much so that sunlight was brightly shining here.
This was a very bad thing for Karl as this clearing did not have any obstacles that he could use as a cover. So now he would be an easy target of an expert archer like the one who was targetting him.
So should Karl do in order to get out of this situation with his life still intact ?
