After this, in his panic, he had quickly ran away from his house while carrying the corpse of his father with him. With his extremely good perception, he had managed to avoid running into anyone while running away.
Even though Karl truly hated his father for how he had treated him, he never had any intention of killing him outright.
It was not like his father had tortured him or anything. It's just that he had never cared for him and had shown prefrence to his other siblings.
For this, Karl did wish to take away his title of the baron from him but that was all, he never wanted to kill him off.
As Karl was struggling with his thoughts, the face of the people living in the castle appeared in his mind. At the same time, vague memories of him cutting them down also appeared in his head.
As his father had tried to kill him with poison, Karl could somehow justify his murder in his own mind to his own self.
But most of the people living in the castle were more or less innocent to Karl. So their death impacted him even more badly.
Karl had spend three days in a forest located near his home town and only after that he had managed to calm down a little.
During this time, he had buried his father's body in a remote part of the forest and had managed to think about what he should do next.
But before doing anything, he had decided to go and see what had happened about his massacre after he had left the small town.
There was a part of his heart that wanted someone to accuse him for the crime that he had committed and to punish him for it.
But when he has returned to the town with a disguise, what he had found was completely opposite of what he had thought.
Normally for cases like this, the crown would send someone to investigate the situation to find out what actually had happened there.
The sudden death of a noble family without a reason was definitely suspicious. And even if the crown did not actually care about it, they still needed to at least show the world that they cared for their retainers.
The crime that Karl had committed was not a planned one at all so he had left behind a lot of clues that others could use to find him.
But it turned out that the investigation was already over and the blame had been given to hidden dark organisation called the "Silent Assembly".
Karl had never heard of this organisation and was extremely surprised by this result. So he started to investigate this matter on his own.
With his strength of a knight and the funds that he had with him, it was actually not hard for him to get in contact with other hidden organisations and soon from them, he came to know the whole story behind this matter.
Actually the investigator that the crown had sent had teamed up with an influential noble and a different poweful hidden organisation to go against the Silent Assembly.
So by declaring the Silent Assembly as the murderer of a baron family, that investigator had managed to get the Royal Knights to help against them who were definitely the strongest force in this nation.
Karl had heard that the Royal Knights had close to a hundred offical knights and a legendary Grand Knight as the commander.
With this kind of organisation going against the Silent Assembly, they had not managed to put up too much resistance and had been destroyed.
Even though Karl had nothing to do with this situation, somehow he had managed to get out scot free because of this. But now Karl was not sure about what he should do next.
But there was one thing that he really wanted. And that was to never repeat the tragedy of what had happened in the Dummer castle.
While keeping that in mind, Karl was trying to find a job suitable for a knight like him. During this time, he started taking missions from "Seven Heroes Conclave".
This was not a dark organisation but something like a collective. Anyone could became a member of it even if that person was already associated with a different organisation.
The Seven Heroes Conclave strictly acted only as a middleman and never interfered with the other organisations as long as they followed a few rules set by the Conclave. If someone did not want to follow those rules, they should not have join the conclave at the first place.
It was rumoured that the leader of the conclave was a powerful grand knight and there was even rumours that the Seven Heroes Conclave had more then one such person.
The conclave was also quite fair in dealing with its members so none of the other organisations, even the powerful ones wanted to get on their bad side.
And with their very high reputation, they had become the largest information broker and mission giver not just in the Brightshine kingdom but even in a few other neighbouring nations.
This organisation was the best place for knights who were not associated with anyone to find high paying jobs. And for that reason, Karl had started working here.
During one such mission, he came to know a powerful mid level knight named Richard who was acting as the leader during this mission.
Richard was very impressed by Karl and his strength so he invited him to join his organisation. Richard had a very high charisma so he had managed to convince Karl quite easily.
Just like that Karl had became a member of the Night Crow. While joining this place, Karl wanted to find a way to somehow control his killing desires.
He was also relieved as he would not be able to go into a killing frenzy in this organisation like before as Richard was much stronger than him and would definitely be able to stop or even kill him before anything too terrible could happen.
...
His first few months in the Night Crow had been quite pleasant but after that Karl noticed that Richard was giving him more and more missions related to killing and this was making the task of controlling his killing intent much harder.
Karl had talked to Richard about this but still he did not stop giving Karl more killing related missions. This way after about a year, Karl had started to become bloodthirsty. His core nature had started to change slowly but surely.
Karl had noticed this and also the fact that Richard wanted to turn him into a bloodthirsty monster. But even after realising this, there was nothing Karl could do.
The effect of the secret art was just too strong and the more he practiced it, the more bloodthirsty his nature started to become.
It's not just that killing intent was being suppressed in his heart, but his mind was actually slowly changing and becoming more a like a blood and killing loving maniac.
