After entering the city with the carriage, first they started to search for an inn. Weiss had no intention of staying in the super expensive inns that only a noble or a rich merchant could afford but she also did not want to stay at a cheap spot with no security.
Fortunately Karl had managed to talk with some of the merchants who were ahead of them in the line and had gotten to know about some good but affordable inns. So currently he was taking the carriage to one such inn called "Dawn's Light".
From the distance, this inn did not look fancy but after getting close, Weiss saw that it was a clean and tidy place with a large stable. So she was very satisfied with it.
They also had no trouble getting rooms and both Weiss and Karl took one single bed room for each of them. Then they settled down in their individual rooms.
From now on, Karl and Weiss were going to work separately for some time. Karl was given the mission of researching the market prices and getting to know the underworld of this city by Weiss.
As for Weiss, she was going to walk around the city in order to search for a bookstore, a library or a store selling equipment needed to make medicines and such.

It was Karl who left the inn first and he immediately went toward the slum district of the city. That was a place which was almost guaranteed to have at least one dark organisation active there, so he was starting his search from there.
After about 15 minutes of Karl leaving, Weiss also left the inn. As for her destination, it was the commercial district of the city which had highest chance of having the things she was looking for.
As she left the inn, a man standing in the shadows of a building quietly slipped away. He had been keep an eye on the inn and after seeing Weiss leaving it, his mission was done.

Inside a high end shop selling various beauty products, a man wearing lavish clothing was having a conversation with another man dressed as the city guard.
"Yes, master Femion. I can assure you that the girl I am talking about is extraordinarily beautiful. Even though she is quite young now, in just a few years, she will definitely become one of the most beautiful woman of this nation."
"Hmm, was there anyone else other than that one man with her ?"
"No, it was only those two people. I have made sure to check their carriage thoroughly."
"Where are those two people now ?"
"I have sent some of my subordinates to keep an eye on them. One of them had reported to me they were staying in the Dawn's Light inn. Other subordinates of mine is continuing to keep an eye on the inn and if they came out of it, I will immediately be notified."
Just as the guard captain was saying this to the lavishly dressed man, there was a knock on the door of the shop. This knock perfectly followed the secret code that was required, so the guard captain went to open the door.
Upon opening it, he saw exactly what he expected. One of his subordinates was waiting for him there. That subordinate approached the guard captain and whispered a report in his ear. Hearing the report the guard captian's smile became sinister.
Then he went inside the room again and happily told the lavish man about what he just learned.
"Master Femion, that girl has came out of the inn and has went to visit the commercial district. And she went there alone. There will not be a better chance than this to get your hands on her."
Hearing this the other man smiled calmly and said -
"Haha, it looks like captian Temm and his subordinates has really worked hard for my sake in time around. So captain, what do you want from me for your hard work ?"
"Hahaha, master Femion is a generous person so I will like to impose upon your generosity a little. There is a mansion under your terf that belongs to a widow and her daughter. I will like master's help in getting both the mansion and the widow. Obviously I will pay for the mansion. As for the daughter, I don't really care so you can do whatever you want with her."
Hearing this request, Femion smiled and said -
"Hehe, it is such a simple request that giving you only this will tarnish my reputation. So how about I also add a feast for your hard working subordinates alongside what you have desired ?"
"Master truly is the most generous man in the world. If your offering this how can I reject. Thanks in advance for your help and congratulations in advance for getting your hands on a valuable product."
"Hehe, thanks for your well wishes."

As Weiss was walking in the market while looking at things that she needed to buy, she finally found a book store. Weiss had planned her budget very thoroughly before coming leaving the Souran Village but after getting the extra windfall from the bandits, she could afford to be a bit more generous with herself.
So in the bookstore, she bought quite a few books. Most were about myths and legends about magi as she thought that she might be able to find some clues in these legends about the magus families of this world.
Other than that, she also bought quite a few books about history and geography. Knowing more about these subjects would be essential if she wanted to search for anything related to the magus.
As she bought quite a few books and spend more than a gold coin in the shop, the shopkeeper of the bookstore gave Weiss special treatment by delivering the books to her inn by themselves.
This way, Weiss would not need to go back to the inn to drop the books and she could continue her shopping trip.
After coming out of the bookstore, Weiss became a little bit cautious. After entering the city, she had been sensing that someone was continuously keeping an eye on her. But there was no serious malice associated with that look.
But now after coming out of the bookstore, Elena felt hostility and greed directed toward her with her supernatural perception. This emotion was also coming from someone who was not a regular person but a decently strong high level knight apprentice.
Weiss had no idea why this person was hostile toward her. But if this person was going it get in her way, she was not going to be merciful with him.
With this thought in mind, Weiss continued her shopping trip while moving toward a less populated part of market which would be a good location for the hidden assailant to suddenly attack her. Weiss was obviously trying to bait this person out.
