we both turned to look at the person who spoke, it was an older lady with brown hair that streaks of white an evidence of her old age, without the smile wrinkles on her face I would have thought she was in her early thirties, I knew who she was, her husband owned one of the biggest cosmetic company in the city, they had branches all over the world and I even used their brand, yes they were that good.
Alec smiled "good evening Mrs. Birkins, I'm sure you are having a wonderful evening" he said, the lady smiled in return but her attention was on me instead, she looked curiously at me, her gaze was a bit intimidating, she was scanning thoroughly, and to be honest it was getting kind of uncomfortable "good evening, madam birkins to what do I owe the pleasure of your scrutiny" I said with a smile on my face, she laughed "I like her already"
turning to Alec she said "it seems like my daughter has no chance with you, ill leave you be with your miss" she walked away, I stared at her retreating figure, did I just blow up a chance for her daughter, wait did she think I was Alec's...that was a whole misunderstanding, I turned to Alec "why didn't you tell her that we weren't exactly a thing" I asked
Alec glanced at me "because I didn't want her to still think her daughter has a chance with me"
"why" I asked, it didn't make sense if he accepts her daughter, it will have more advantage, "I'm simply not interested, in her daughter but knowing Mrs. birkins she hasn't given up yet" he said, with a concerned look on his face.
"so in other words, you brought me here to chase away females or families who intend to pair you with their daughters" I said, raising an eyebrow at him, "you could say that" he said, taking a sip of his wine. bringing the glass of wine to my lips, a couple walked up to us and it was none other than Javier and veronica, taking a sip of wine I brought it down and offer them a smile
"Mr. Alec, its a pleasure to meet you" veronica said, with the most innocent smile she could muster, I was simply shocked on how pure and innocent she looked, if I didn't know better I would have thought she couldn't hurt a fly, Alec glanced at me he wanted to know if I was alright, I looked up at him with a smile
"I wish I could say the same miss veronica" Alec said, I almost choked on my laugh, veronica smile fell for a second but it was back up almost immediately. I guess she wasn't going to give up that easily. I glanced at Javier, he had been looking at me the whole time, so I looked at him and offered him a sweet smile
"its nice to meet you again Mr..."
"Javier, its nice to meet you too miss" Javier replied, I didn't bother telling him my name the last thing I want is my name coming out of his filthy mouth but soon enough he would hear it "our first meeting was quite chaotic, I apologize" he said
"its alright, some things cant be helped and controlled sometimes" I said maintaining the smile on my lips, i glanced at veronica, her smile was turning into a grit, but it seemed like she couldn't unleash her feral side, i fighting the laugh threatening to escape my lips
"Mr. Alec, how is the company i heard you sealed a really big contract recently" Javier asked "the company is doing just fine, and i see tidal tech is doing great under your care" Alec replied, smiling Javier adjusted his suit uncomfortably, there was an awkward silence between four of us, veronica was glaring at me, she would have murdered me hundred times in her head by now but she failed to kill me the first time, she failed at her only chance.
the master of ceremony, started to speak, the hall was quiet to listen to the speech, then she invited the sponsor for this year's event, every year different companies sponsored the event, sometimes a company sponsored more than once in a roll, this year's sponsor was Mr. birkins, everyone applauded has he gave his speech.
other people were mentioned for different awards and soon the award for the biggest and most popular company was about to be called, the hall was quiet everyone was tense, i glanced at veronica she looked like she was about to stand up, with the things i did in tidal tech before i died it was expected that tidal tech would win it, they won the two years i was in a coma, no wonder she came, if not it would have been some insignificant employee.
but her face changed when my company was called out, everyone waited curiously looking for the owner of the company that came out of nowhere, i glanced at Alec he glanced around waiting, a mischievous smile graced my lips as i stood up and walked up to the stage, the stage i set for myself. my revenge has just begun.
