Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Signing a Contract

"Ancient Martial Arts originated a very long time ago, and there are many different schools, each with its own unique approach.

"As for Secret Techniques, they can be considered both mysterious and entirely mundane. They simply involve using certain methods to stimulate the body to achieve Genetic Evolution," Wu Bin explained as he observed Yang Bo.

Wu Bin had pretty much figured out Yang Bo's little thoughts. He assumed Yang Bo definitely wanted to become a Genetic Evolver. As for why? Because practically every resident wanted that.

"Brother Wu, does that mean I'm constantly being monitored in the house I live in?" Yang Bo thought for a moment before asking.

Wu Bin chuckled. "As long as they want to, they can see absolutely everything you do."

Noticing Yang Bo's expression change, Wu Bin asked, "Do you want to become a Genetic Evolver?"

"You have a way, Brother Wu?" Yang Bo asked hurriedly, feigning a bit of anxiety. Of course, this was just an act for Wu Bin's benefit; after all, the original owner of his body was only nineteen years old.

"You can talk to Mr. Liu."

"Uh, is Mr. Liu really that impressive?"

"The more capable the employees are, the more profit they generate for Mr. Liu. So, you can give it a try. I became a Genetic Evolver—no, accurately speaking, I have my current strength because the company gave me a chance."

Yang Bo felt a bit conflicted. With his set of abilities, all he lacked was an opportunity. But selling his life to the company? He felt somewhat reluctant.

"I'll have Mr. Liu talk to you." Wu Bin felt he had said enough. As for how Yang Bo would fare later, it would depend on opportunity and his own efforts. However, for those who had failed their Genetic Potion injections, their growth potential was mostly limited.

Liu Zhijie walked into the room and immediately said, "Yang Bo, Wu Bin has already told you plenty. As long as you sign a contract with Anzhijie Service Company as a formal employee, the company will nurture you. We have Genetic Potions, Ancient Martial Arts, and even Secret Techniques.

"But don't get your hopes up too high. The most important factor for an expert is their innate talent. In fact, you might not know this, but aside from a few elite families, the vast majority of people are reserved right after birth through genetic testing. The success rate of these genetic tests can reach eighty percent. Top-tier talents are targeted by the military early on. The rest are divided up by the major factions, layer by layer. Even if a few slip through the cracks, they'll be targeted by other factions once they are injected with a Genetic Potion."

Yang Bo asked, "Mr. Liu, will there be any issues after signing the contract?"

"Of course there will. Every job has its risks. Just last year alone, there were hundreds of accidents across the universe, and I'm talking about pure accidents. Over a hundred A-level Genetic Evolvers were lost. High-energy cosmic rays and unidentified objects traveling at over a hundred thousand kilometers per second simply cannot be detected by human technology.

"Of course, the safety factor of our work is very high, and it's not like we're going to do anything malicious to you. After all, you are a citizen of this nation. If something were to happen to you, we would have to pay an even steeper price to suppress the fallout.

"Besides, the contract is perfectly legitimate."

Yang Bo pondered for a moment before saying, "Mr. Liu, I can sign, but I want to move. I hope the company can provide free housing. I don't mind if the environment is a bit rundown."

"Heh, are you yearning for freedom?" Liu Zhijie felt a wave of relief. Initially, he just wanted to fill a vacancy in the company, but last night, he had someone look into the company that manufactured the Genetic Potion Yang Bo had been injected with. This information was publicly available on government websites.

By connecting this with certain events involving that pharmaceutical company in the decades prior to Yang Bo's injection, Liu Zhijie had deduced that the company might have been testing a new type of Genetic Potion.

According to Wu Bin's description, Yang Bo had dodged a monster's attack the day before. This was highly abnormal for ordinary people, especially since even Wu Bin hadn't noticed the monster's Disguise.

As for what abilities Yang Bo possessed, Liu Zhijie had no desire to find out. That was every person's deepest secret. As long as this person could work for the company, that was enough.

On the other hand, if Yang Bo refused to sign a formal contract, Liu Zhijie would simply sell his information to interested parties.

Yang Bo signed a formal contract with Anzhijie Service Company. Looking at the document, Liu Zhijie breathed another sigh of relief. Because of the special nature of his company, they needed legal residents. It wasn't just his company; any organization providing similar services required them. However, most residents had no desire to step out and work.

"Yang Bo, our company implements an internal point system. Points can be exchanged for anything. This is a points exchange list for Basic employees. Every time you complete a task, you won't just receive payment, but also a corresponding number of points." Liu Zhijie pulled out a sheet of paper and handed it to Yang Bo.

"D-level Genetic Evolution Potion, one million points!" Yang Bo stared at the list. A D-level Genetic Evolution Potion actually required a staggering one million points.

"E-level Genetic Evolution Potion, one hundred thousand points!" Yang Bo continued reading down the list.

The final point acquisition model was simple: the amount of payment earned equaled the number of points rewarded. Aside from Genetic Potions, the list also included items like Anti-Gravity Skateboards, Anti-gravity Flying Cars, houses, and more.

"Our company also provides loan services, and our interest rates are lower than those of financial institutions," Liu Zhijie added.

Yang Bo shook his head and asked, "Mr. Liu, how do I accept tasks?"

"It's very simple, you can just accept them on your smartwatch. You don't even have to come to the company. Of course, the logistics department will charge a fee for delivering your tools," Liu Zhijie explained.

"Mr. Liu, are there any options for Ancient Martial Arts? My last Genetic Potion injection was a failure, so the success rate of redeeming another one is a concern," Yang Bo asked after taking a sip of water.

"Of course. Here is the relevant information."

Yang Bo took the documents and was a bit dumbfounded by what he saw. The Ancient Martial Arts methods were divided into many tiers. The highest ones cost hundreds of millions of points, while the lowest ones were free. However, the training had to be conducted in a professional training facility because they provided instructors and emergency measures. The cheapest rate at these facilities was one thousand Credit Points per hour...

"Yang Bo, you must remember one thing in this society: if you want to live a better life, nothing comes for free. The company's policy is fairness. Of course, I can offer you advice on certain matters, but my suggestions will be from my own perspective. They might not necessarily suit you. In the future, no matter who gives you advice, you must carefully consider it yourself," Liu Zhijie advised.

"Understood, Mr. Liu."

"You can prepare your own smartwatch or get one from the company. Naturally, if you reach a higher rank in the future, you'll need the company's custom-made smartwatch. For now, your rank isn't high enough. Once you get your smartwatch, you can move out of your current place and into the company dormitory.

"I'll take you to the dormitory first. You can rest assured about our company's housing."

Yang Bo nodded. This company's business was clearly not that simple. Without sufficient strength, they wouldn't dare operate in this industry. He just wondered what kind of people were backing this company.
