Chapter 6 - Chapter 3 The One Behind the Scenes, From a Different World (2/2)

He wanted nothing more than to smash those disgusting features to pieces.

A traitor to the human race?

That accusation was far too severe.

Yet he did not act.

He turned around and left in silence.

Before gaining strength, every insult and every act of retaliation was nothing more than a trap.

"I will become stronger," Su Yun swore to himself."So strong that no one will ever be able to bully me again."

Seeing that Su Yun showed not the slightest reaction, Liu Qing Shan's mother's face darkened.

Good grief. After saying all that, he hadn't taken a single word to heart?

"Are you deaf?!" she screamed angrily.

Su Yun shrugged. "Yes. I am."

With that, he continued walking forward.

Under the sunlight, his shadow stretched farther and farther away, looking thin—and a little lonely.

Liu Qing Shan watched his retreating figure and bit her lip lightly."Mom… don't you think you went too far?"

"Too far?" Her mother snorted."Wake up, my daughter!"

"Who are you? You are the first genius in Canglan City in a hundred years to awaken an S-rank talent!"

"And what is he? He's nothing but trash tossed by the roadside, ignored by everyone—something people wouldn't mind spitting on!"

She looked at Liu Qing Shan earnestly."How can the bright moon be tainted by dust?"

Liu Qing Shan's expression stiffened.

She did feel that her mother had gone too far.

But harsh as the words were, they weren't without reason.

She had awakened an S-rank talent. Her future stage was all of Huaxia—perhaps even the entire Blue Star.

As for Su Yun…

He would spend his whole life in the slums.

If she continued to stay entangled with him, then…

In the end, Liu Qing Shan let out a long sigh.

Perhaps there truly was an unbridgeable gulf between their worlds.

Seeing that her daughter had come to her senses, Liu Qing Shan's mother deliberately raised her voice and shouted toward Su Yun's back:

"Remember this—you're my daughter. You are not from the same world as trash that lives in the slums!"

She was asserting her status, while deliberately trampling on Su Yun.

Su Yun's steps paused.

He sensed the boundless spiritual energy between heaven and earth, glanced inward at the Nine-Tails within him, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.

"Indeed," he murmured."We are not from the same world."

Su Yun left.

He did not trade insults with her.

Nor did he utter any arrogant, clichéd lines about revenge or destiny.

There was no need.

Canglan City, Eastern District of the slums, No. 211.

Most of the houses there were built from old wooden boards and sheets of rusted metal.

The streets were paved with sand, broken bricks, or whatever could be found.

Sometimes, drunken men could be seen slumped in the corners, reeking of filth.

Su Yun's home was small—just a few metal sheets enclosing the space.

Inside were a bed, two chairs, and a radio.

That was everything he owned.

If one had to name his most valuable possession, it would probably be the phone in his pocket.

The bare lightbulb hanging from the metal sheet flickered on, casting the room's only light.

"Three hundred Blue Coins a month… heh."

Su Yun laughed at himself.

He didn't dwell on it. Rubbing his face, he slowly closed his eyes.

The next moment, the little Nine-Tails appeared in his arms.

The moment it came out, it rubbed its fluffy head against his chest, instantly bringing life to the stifling little room.

"From now on," Su Yun said softly, stroking its fur,"it's just you and me."

The little Nine-Tails closed its ruby-red eyes, clearly enjoying itself.

Its nose twitched as it let out soft, contented sounds.

Then it hopped down, nibbling here and rubbing there, lively and adorable.

Su Yun watched it, the smile on his face growing wider.

Rubbing his hands together excitedly, he said,"Since I've got nothing better to do… I might as well try out Nine-Tails Mode first."
