CHAPTER 00014
Kitzimo, who had just been showing what appeared to be extreme disgust towards Akar and his swords, grinned intently at his words.
"You seek more challenge, eh?" he said. "Then let's continue." He looked in the direction of another woman, who had been standing in the cluster, patiently waiting for her turn to fight. "Otiya! You're up!"
As she stepped out of the group, her smile somehow showed Akar that she was not one to be reckoned with. However, he maintained his focus, readying his blades once more.
Kitzimo, though, held out his hand in a request for him to wait. Two more men came out of a door in the rear of the room, rolling a large steel wagon with what appeared to have water in it. They stopped it in the center of the room, where the sloshing fluids slowly stopped moving.
Kitzimo lowered his hand, and Akar finally saw why the water was there. Otiya circled her arms in strange patterns, and Akar watched in astonishment as the water rose out of the air, localizing into large spheres that hovered above the wagon. She moved once more, shifting the spheres into long, skinny cylinders.
It took a moment for Akar to realize what she was doing. At that point, it was too late. The water arrows she conjured were rocketing towards him at an immense speed.
Akar rolled out of line, one of the arrows grazing his shirt. To his surprise, water was quite a powerful weapon. As soon as they hit the ground, they splashed into puddles, evidently a temporary creation.
Akar was prepared when she launched her second wave, deflecting them all with his elite swordsmanship. At first, he had thought to reverse the attack, redirecting back at her, but then remembered how difficult arrows that melted on impact would make that.
He had to come up with something, though, and fast. He continued to deflect as he thought.
He examined the room, trying to figure out how he could win. Then, something caught his eye.
Bingo.
The electric chandelier mounted to the ceiling happened to be positioned perfectly above the water cart. All he had to do was take it down. This would prove extremely difficult, though, considering the flurry of arrows coming at him.
He rolled once more, aligning himself, before pulling back and releasing one of his swords, watching as it spiraled up and out. In that second, an arrow grazed his left arm, causing a deep cut.
Thankfully, though, his sword spun around perfectly, so that the swinging force of the spin would assist in cutting the chandelier's chain.
As the sword flew straight through, the ornate light fixture plummeted downward, splashing as it hit the water. Still not aware of everything that was going on, Otiya continued to create more water arrows, only to suddenly feel a sharp electric sensation throughout her body.
Akar watched as she collapsed as well, charred from the shock. As he smiled, he felt a sting in his arm. He may have won this battle, but he noticed the difficulty was rising.
He had to step up his game, and fast, before it was too late.
