Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

The creep introduced himself as Veldanava, and I was right about him being the creator. He even named me Velgris, and I accepted it. New life, new name. Not that I particularly liked it, but it was lowkey tough, so I let it stick.

During the naming, I felt something threading itself between us, a kind of tether. Veldanava explained it later: Monster souls are born incomplete, and a name completes them.

----

During my first month here, Veldanava dumped everything he knew into my head. I learned magic, the rules of the world, and how to use my [Skills]. If I included [Intrinsic Skills] and [Sub-Skills], my collection looked like it could crush an encyclopedia out of shame.

My strongest skill was [Manus, Father of Darkness], an Ultimate Skill that let me control darkness at its highest purity. The kind of darkness that could chew on a concept and erase it completely.

Veldanava was proud of it too. We tested it on a tree, and the entire thing blinked out of existence. If you were strong enough, you could still remember the erased concept. Veldanava knew what a tree was. The random fairy who literally lived on one did not.

"Imagine what I can do with this power kukukuku~" Velgris whispered, radiating classic Evil energy as he giggled to himself.

{I TOLD YOU MY LORD, YOU MADE A MONSTER!}

Veldanava froze for a second when he heard that.

"KUAHAHAHAHA! Just you wait, mathematics! KUAHAHAHAHA!"

He stepped back and silently prayed for whoever this mathematics was.

---

After another month, I learned how to transform into a human. That was where my suffering began. My face was too good looking, painfully so, and I couldn't decide on a hairstyle. After hours of mental combat, I gave up and settled on long hair.

And what kind of clothing suits a long haired, annoyingly handsome guy? Obviously a Hanfu.

[A/N: Hanfu is the traditional clothing of the Han Chinese people.]

The first Hanfu I created was way too big, so I shrank it down to fit. Since I was a young dragon, my human form looked like a kid.

Hmph, just wait till I grow up.

I gathered river water, shaped it into a mirror, and studied myself.

"Damn I look good, an appearance befitting of a God." A boy around twelve or thirteen stared back at me, with black raven hair, blood red eyes, and the black Hanfu I made. He looked like a young master who got lost on his way out of a Chinese novel.

Veldanava wanted to spend more time with his brother, but Voice kept nagging him about work and the situation with the black hole and white hole, so he had to part from Velgris for the moment.

Voice explained that those two holes were eggs for two spiritual beings, born from the strongest primal emotions of current and future sentient beings: Fear and Hope.

For a moment, Veldanava wished he still had his omniscience. He was confused. Why? How? But he understood one thing: these two beings were created for a reason.

Voice brought him to their location, and Veldanava did not expect to see two girls around Velgris's age.

Voice mentioned that they were born on the same day as Velgris, which instantly threw sparks of suspicion into Veldanava's mind.

"I swear these two are connected to him, I just can't prove it."

{How can you tell, My Lord.}

"Call it the Creator's hunch."

{....}

He walked toward them and noticed that One of them was crying while the Other was gripping a white feather shaped like a knife.

When the Other turned her head, he saw blood streaking across her face.

"Are you two okay? What happened?" he asked with genuine concern.

"Who are you?" the Other answered, cold and distant.

"I think you should be more worried about the bleeding on your face, not me."

"I'm fine, now get away from us."

"But she's crying. Is she okay?" Veldanava pointed toward the One.

"She's fine, we just had a little argument. Now get out." The Other's voice dropped several degrees colder.

"Hey, I'm just concerned–"

"I know. That's why I answered your questions. Now get out."

Veldanava stepped back and sighed. What was he supposed to do? He wanted to interact with them, especially since they were the only beings that weren't his creations. But if they refused, he had no choice.

Still, he felt bad. They clearly needed help. One was crying and the Other was bleeding. If that didn't call for concern, what did?

{I suggest telling Velgris, My Lord. He might be able to help.}

"Tsk, you just want to dump the job onto Velgris so he has something to do, mostly because he somehow irritates you without doing anything, and so I can focus on work."

{I don't know what you're talking about My Lord.}

It was clearly pretending to be innocent. Veldanava bit back the urge to say it aloud.

"I wonder why you dislike him."

{Well, ever since he arrived, you've been talking less to me...}

"Did you say something?" Veldanava looked at it sharply.

{Nothing, My Lord.}

---

After all his training, Velgris finally mastered all of his [Skills].

And then he realized he had absolutely nothing left to do. If he were still on Earth, he could rot on his bed forever without regret. Gadget or no gadget.

But this was a fantasy world. Rotting here was a crime.

"I guess I'm still in the boring part of the timeline. How many years until entertainment exists?" Velgris exhaled dramatically as he lay on the grass. He plucked a blade of it and chewed.

Yes, he fully admitted he was trying to imitate those Chinese Cultivators.

{Lord Veldanava would like you to come to his location, Lord Velgris.}

Velgris felt his peace was about to get wrecked, but this might be entertaining enough to justify it, so he stood up and went.
