Day broke, and as the sun rose, servants paraded around whispering in hushed tones within the palace. Within the consort's quarters, Liang Chen woke up with a splitting headache and bruised knuckles thanks to punching Ji Mingyuan.
"Good morning, my prince," Shuming greeted as he exited the bathroom, walked over to the curtains, and pulled them open, letting the beam of sunlight brighten the room.
Liang Chen's face darkened, and he massaged his temples.
"This is all Ji Mingyuan's fault," he murmured. "What is it with him? One minute he is at it and the next he makes me feel…" Liang Chen stopped; his mouth did not dare utter another word.
"Your bath is ready, my prince," Shuming announced.
Liang Chen did not delay heading into the bathroom, but by the time he stepped out, there stood his nemesis.
Ji Mingyuan had a little bruise right where Liang Chen had punched him, a small cut, not very noticeable.
