- Well I guess it's our turn now, said Kamijo, showing a smile. Kamijo was wearing his normal black t-shirt and grey shorts.
- And this time we will win, said Nari. She have brown slightly longer hair
and brown eyes. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt, a light brown short-sleeved blazer and a gray skirt that reached halfway down her thigh which is the Midorepki Magic Academy school uniform.
- Yeah of course, said Saito who had pink hair and brown eyes. She also wore the Midorepki Magic Academy uniform.
- So it's time for the second match to start, the judge said. On the right side we have team Tabemono which consists of Ryuji Tabemono, Asami Kojima, Chin-Hae Jang, Kuni Sato and Ayaka Mikami, the judge said as they walked out. Tabemono has short red hair and red eyes. He wore a red shirt under a white blazer and white pants. He had a red tie and black glasses. On his left side stood Asami Kojima who has long black hair and black eyes. She wore a white shirt under a black blazer, black pants and a black tie. On Tabemono's right side stood Chin-Hae Jang. He has short light blue hair and light blue eyes. He wore a white shirt under a light blue blazer, light blue pants and a blue tie. On Kojima's left side stood Kuni Sato who had long black hair tied back in a ponytail that reached her hips and green eyes. She wore a short white t-shirt tied in a knot at the bottom revealing her navel and dark blue jeans. She held a sheaved katana in her left hand. On Jang's right side stood Ayaka Mikami. She has lightning blue hair and lightning blue eyes. She was wearing a dark blue jacket with fur trim and dark blue shorts.
- And on the left side we have team Misaka, who consist of Nari Misaka, Ai Saito, Kenji Fuji and Licht Kamijo, the judge said.
- So, you ready? asked Kamijo and looked at Nari. She looked down and closed her eyes.
- Yeah I am, she said and looked up again and walked out.
The judge looked at both teams and then said "Start!" Right after the battle started, Tabemono said "Let's end this now."
- Fiery Explosion, said Tabemono and a mass of fire gathered in his hand.
- Just leave them to me, Kamijo said before Tabemono fired an enormous blast of fire at us.
- Yeah, Nari answered and ran with me towards Sato and Mikami.
- Self Teleportation, Saito said before the fire reached her and Kamijo.
- Arena Trap, said Kamijo before the fire hit him and exploded. Ah I see how he is trapping them. Arena Trap is a spell that allows the user to trap multiple opponents in an area chosen by the user and if any of them steps out of that area, something from the ground grabs them and throws them into the area again.
- Is that all you can? asked Kamijo before the smoke disappeared. He pointed at them and said "Let me show you how you do it."
- Fiery Explosion, he said and a small fire ball appeared in front of his finger. Jang showed a confident smile and placed himself between Kamijo and Tabemono.
- Water Shield, said Jang and a big wall of water appeared between them and Kamijo.
- Voel dit, Kamijo said and threw the fire ball at them, breaking the sound barrier. Jang's confident smile faltered a bit before Kamijo said "Bang" and then shattered into several fireballs making Jang's confident smile disappear completely. When the fire balls hit the water wall they exploded.
- Fire Sword, said Kamijo and jumped over them and through the smoke. He landed behind Kojima and cut her back. She fell down on the ground and lost consciousness.
- Heal, Kamijo said and healed Kojima's injury.
- Asami Kojima is out, the judge said. Kamijo looked towards Tabemono and pointed at him with his sword.
- Fire Sword, said Tabemono and a sword made of fire appeared in his hand.
- Water Sword, Jang said and a sword made of water appeared.
- Fire Knife, Kamijo said and his knife made of fire appeared in his left hand.
I punched Mikami in the face.
- Lightning Storm, Nari said and a bunch of lightning bolts came up from her hand, into the air and made a black cloud which then shot down a bunch of lightning bolts at Sato but she jumped away and unsheathed her katana.
- Air Slashes, Sato said and cut the air with her katana, creating a blade of wind that was flying towards Nari.
- Multi Lightning, Nari said whilst avoiding the wind blade and shooting multiple lightning bolts towards Sato but she hit the ground with her sword, which made a bunch of sand fly up blocking all the lightning bolts.
- Lightning Storm, said Nari and a bunch of lightning bolts flew up into the air from her hand and a black cloud appeared above Sato and struck her down with a bunch of lightning bolts.
- Lightning Slash, said Mikami and shot a lightning blade towards me which I avoided and punched her in the stomach. She flew back several meters.
- Lightning Sword, said Nari and tried to cut Sato but she avoided it.
- Higher Air Strike, said Sato and a mass of wind over Nari pushed her down on the ground.
- Air Slashes, said Sato and cut the air with her katana, creating a blade of wind that was flying towards Nari. When she saw that she screamed "Ai!"
- Black Lightning, said Mikami and a few black clouds appeared above me and shot down a black bolt of lightning towards me.
- Target Teleportation, Saito said and teleported me in front of Nari. I destroyed the wind blade with Magic Breaker.
- Wait, what? screamed Sato in shock.
- Protection Angel of thunder let me borrow your strength and form it into a bird. Let the strength of your lightning be mine. THUNDERBIRD! Nari said. Just before she finished I ducked and then shot a lightning bolt in the form of a giant bird at Sato.
- Oh Shit, she said knowing she couldn't do anything.
- Kuni Sato is out, said the judge. After we took Sato out, we high-fived.
- Oh, come on, I give up, said Mikami.
- Ayaka Mikami has given up, the judge said. Kamijo blocked Tabemono's attack and glanced at us.
- Oh you're done, said Kamijo before Jang tried to cut off Kamijo's head but he ducked and cut Jang's chest.
- Fire Tornado, said Tabemono and shot a fire tornado at Kamijo but he jumped away.
- Flamethrower, screamed Tabemono and shot a bunch of fire at Kamijo but he just stretched out his hand.
- Fire Control, said Kamijo and when the fire got to Kamijo it just stopped. Tabemono looked in shock at Kamijo and exclaimed "No… no, I can't lose… NO, I can't… especially against another fire magician. I can't. I AM THE PRINCE OF FIRE!" After he said that Kamijo's smile disappeared. Kamijo moved his hand to the side and the fire followed his hand. Tabemono stopped shooting fire at Kamijo who had a cold emotionless face.
- Fire Change, Heat Wave, said Kamijo and the fire transformed into extremely hot wind which started flying towards Tabemono. He protected his face as Kamijo stretched out an open hand. A bunch of pillars made of fire appeared around Tabemono forming a circle. Each of the pillars was like 40 meters tall. Tabemono looked around in fear.
- TABEMONO! Said Kamijo. Tabemono looked at him in fear as Kamijo continued "You said you were the prince of fire, correct?" Tabemono nodded.
- If you are a prince, Kamijo said and then continued with a dark voice "then I am an emperor."
- Fiery Destruction, said Kamijo and closed his hand before the fire pillars flew down at Tabemono.
- Fire Shield, said Tabemono and fire started covering his whole body but right as the fire had covered his whole body it disappeared.
- Wait what, Tabemono exclaimed in both fear and shock before the fire hit him and a giant explosion came from the fire when it hit him. Both me and Nari needed to protect our faces from the explosion. When the smoke from the explosion disappeared Tabemono's clothes were half gone and his whole body was burned.
- Ryuji Tabemono is out, the judge said. After she said that, Tabemono fell down on his knees. I looked at Nari and she looked shocked.
- It is team Misaka that have won this match, said the judge.
When we got into the waiting room Nari asked "Kamijo, how did you do that?"
- What do you mean? asked Kamijo.
- How could you cut so much of the incantation? Especially with Fiery Destruction? asked Nari. Fiery Destruction is a spell known for being impossible to use. The only reason we know of it is because it was mentioned in some of the few inscriptions we have from the forgotten era. Actually now when I think of it, how do magicians learn new spells?
- And at the same time as a different spell, Nari continued.
- Is it really that hard to think that I'm able to use Fiery Destruction? You know how good I am at using mana efficiently in a spell, Kamijo said. What does he mean by "using mana efficiently in a spell?"
- It doesn't matter how efficiently you're at using mana efficiently in a spell when you don't have enough mana to use it, said Nari. From what epigraphers have studied, we believe that Fiery Destruction is the strongest spell that we know to exist. Although after seeing Kamijo use it, I doubt it.
- What do you mean? asked Kamijo.
- It's estimated that you need to have a mana score of at least 15 million and last time I checked, you had a mana score of 10 million, said Nari.
- And that's the key word, estimated, said Kamijo.
- What?
- That it's estimated means that they don't fully know, Kamijo said.
- Well that's true, Nari said. "Since the estimate is wrong, how much mana do you need to use it?" Kamijo showed her one finger.
- 1 million? Nari asked.
- No, you only need to have a mana score of one, Kamijo answered.
- Stop lying. If that was the case then every fire magician would be able to use it, Nari said.
- Like theoretically yeah, realistically no, Kamijo answered.
- What do you mean by that? asked Nari.
- You only need to have a mana efficiency of 90%, Kamijo answered.
- Really? Nari asked and Kamijo nodded. I just looked at them confused, not really understanding what they have been talking about. Kamijo looked at me and then up at the ceiling and said "Oh yeah, forgot that in F-Class you don't really get to learn much about how magic works."
- Yeah, what do you mean by how efficient you are with mana? I asked.
- When most talk about mana efficiency they are talking about how much of your mana goes to waste when you are using mana. Most magicians I think have a mana efficiency of 25% which means that 75% of the mana they use in a spell goes to waste, Kamijo said.
- That's a lot, so how efficient are you with your mana? I asked.
- Exact number is impossible to know since we can't see mana but since I'm able to use Fiery Destruction and cut so much of the incarnation, I probably have around 95% maybe? Meanwhile I would estimate that Nari probably is around 40% and Saito I don't know, Kamijo said.
- Damn, so even Nari wasted 60% of the mana she uses, I said.
- Shut up, Nari said.
- So who else do you have an idea of their efficiency? I asked.
- Since Accelerator is able to block Nari's magic with Air Shield I would guess around 90%, said Kamijo.
- So in efficiency he is a match to you? I asked.
- Yeah, absolutely. The reputation he's gotten here in Magic City is absolutely deserved. Out of those I have fought, he's absolutely the second strongest, said Kamijo.
