Chapter 27 - Locking Batman in Arkham

Under the effect of Hypnosis, the prison guards accepted the idea that "Connors was sent here by Batman."

So when it was yard time, Connors, Joker, and the others sat on the concrete ground like good buddies, chatting and laughing.

Adhering to the principle of "bold hypothesis, careful verification," Connors casually recounted the plot of Bane's "Back-Breaking Battle" with Batman from the comics:

"You guys take turns causing trouble to exhaust Batman, then Bane steps in to defeat him. Killer Croc hasn't made a move yet, could he be digging a hole for you guys underground?"

"No, no, brother, you guessed wrong," Riddler was the first to shout, as Bane's appearance wasn't part of their plan at all.

Scarecrow, however, nodded:

"You guessed half right."

Joker licked the scar at the corner of his mouth, looking indifferent:

"According to my plan, laughing gas, Fear Toxin, and gunfire will cleanse Gotham in turns, and Batman will indeed be exhausted by this, but Bane is not part of the plan."

"Why?" Connors didn't understand. Bane's strength was too great; even with his physical fitness elevated to the Human Limit level of the old man, he still couldn't challenge him.

Not utilizing such a strong combat force was unreasonable.

"Although that guy looks like a big brute, he has more ideas in his head than muscles, buddy. How about you cooperate with me?"

Joker was still the one who looked the most normal among them, ignoring his appearance.

Casually kicking Penguin, who was about to speak, aside, Joker's expression suddenly shifted from normal to manic:

"How about we team up and send Batman here?"

"Think about it, someone who always operates in the dark, wears a strange bat costume, speaks in a deliberately low voice, and keeps sending me here even though he knows Arkham can't hold me – doesn't he seem more like a lunatic than I do?"

Lock Batman in Arkham Asylum?

Connors immediately gave Joker a big thumbs up:

"Brilliant, Joker! How do you need me to cooperate?"

"It's simple, you just—"

Joker was about to cackle out the "plan" and send Connors to his death, but the guy actually got up and left, leaving his subsequent words stuck in his throat.

Laughing gas, Fear Toxin, and gunfire would cleanse Gotham in turns, giving Batman no rest, then Killer Croc would help them escape, and then they would defeat the exhausted old man and lock him in Arkham Asylum.

But Bane was not part of the plan and had already succeeded first. Riddler had no role in this action, possibly because he was tied up before he could even act.

But there was another possibility: this old sly fox had another plan up his sleeve.

Connors walked towards the exit of the yard, simulating Joker's plan in his mind.

Under the tense gaze of the prison guards, Connors walked near the exit, confirmed a safe distance, and turned to Joker, saying:

"Joker, the plan is great, but just as you said, Bane indeed has many ideas—he used your plan to successfully defeat Batman."

"Also, stay away from that spot."

He pointed to the spot where he and Joker had been sitting just now.

Before he finished speaking, that entire section of concrete ground was blown away, dirt splattered everywhere, and a terrifying roar came from underground.

Killer Croc!

His rough, grayish-green skin was covered in scales of various sizes. Although he still looked humanoid, both his face and body were closer to that of a crocodile.

From his head down to the huge tail dragging behind him, three or four rows of raised scales looked like sawteeth, coupled with the sharp fangs in his enormous crocodile mouth. If he were lying on the ground, he would be a living, breathing giant crocodile.

Holy moly. Connors looked at Killer Croc, who had emerged from underground, standing nearly two and a half meters tall and comparable in size to Bane, and began to wonder how the old man had managed to send this beast into Arkham before.

Alarms blared throughout Arkham Asylum.

After Killer Croc emerged from the ground, the prison guards began shooting frantically, but the bullets hitting Killer Croc's body made a clinking sound, blocked by his thick scales.

Except for Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow, and Penguin, Batman's opponents, the other ordinary inmates fled in all directions.

Fleeing along with the inmates was Killer Croc himself.

"No way, you dug yourself out from underground just to escape under a hail of bullets?" Connors was a bit confused.

Was he here to help Joker escape, or to suffer?

Killer Croc was almost impervious to bullets, but at this moment, he still seemed to have encountered something terrifying, frantically hitting the yard wall with his claws and tail.

A sky full of bullets whizzed past Joker. He didn't care about Killer Croc's current state and staggered towards the large hole Killer Croc had emerged from in the rain of bullets, but Penguin jumped into it first.

Soon, Joker, Scarecrow, and Riddler followed suit, ready to jump in and escape.

Although the process deviated, the result was still Killer Croc coming to help him escape. Joker just needed to leave Arkham and re-plan how to send Batman to the asylum.

But Penguin, who was the first to jump into the hole, quickly flew out again, accidentally hit by bullets aimed at Killer Croc in mid-air, splattering blood as he slammed onto the ground.

Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow: "?"

Connors: "...Penguins can fly?"

"Stop! Stop!" yelled a prison guard from the shooting tower high on the wall, and the rain of bullets quickly ceased.

Everyone's gaze lingered between Killer Croc, who was banging his head against the wall, Penguin, who was covered in blood, and the deep pit in the ground.

Then, before everyone's eyes, a timid little head poked out of the pit. White hair was tied into twin pigtails, the ends blue and red respectively. It was none other than Harley Quinn.

Harley Quinn seemed to have been digging underground for a long time; her face was dirty, but this couldn't hide her naturally beautiful appearance, nor could it hide the bright smile on her face. She leaped out and greeted Joker:

"Hi~ Mr. J~, everyone's here?"

Her gaze swept over Joker, incidentally seeing Riddler and Scarecrow, while completely ignoring Penguin lying on the ground.

"Harley Quinn! My charming little rascal! I knew you'd come—?

?

Joker opened his arms, but before he could finish speaking, he watched as Harley Quinn, covered in dirt, threw herself into Connors's arms:

"Xiao Pa! You're here too~"

It took her a full three seconds to jump out of Connors's arms and return to the edge of the deep pit, bending down to pull hard.

Dirt splattered again, and Harley Quinn pulled out a super-sized wooden mallet from underground and hoisted it onto her shoulder, grinning at Joker and the others:

"I didn't come to save you. On the contrary, I came to stop you from leaving!"

At the same time, Killer Croc finally crashed through the wall.

Connors was dumbfounded. He was here to advance the "Laughing Man" event progress for the Spectator System. What was this little lunatic Harley Quinn doing here?

Under Killer Croc's cover, the three, Joker, Scarecrow, and Riddler, laughed and ran outside. Harley Quinn was also stunned:

"Oh no, I think I messed things up—"

What are we waiting for? Run! Connors grabbed Harley Quinn and followed behind Joker.

Chasing them was definitely not a good idea. He took Harley Quinn around, planning to drive the muscle car back to the apartment first.

Then—.

"Where's the car?" Connors asked Harley.

Harley Quinn looked bewildered:

"I thought that was the Arkham warden's car—I used it to ram the main gate."
