The Doctor didn't dare say anything out loud and quietly started to do as he was told. He worked gently and carefully, all the while wondering what had happened to Alessia's clothes and hair.
A few minutes later, he let out a long sigh.
Dervan immediately sat up on his chair. "What's wrong?"
The doctor shook his head. "Apart from a little malnourishment and a few bruises, I can't find anything worth worrying too much about. But to tell her condition fully, she will have to do a couple of tests at the hospital–"
"Bruises? What bruises?" A crease formed between Dervan's brows.
The doctor nodded, holding up Alessia's hands for him to see and Dervan's frown deepened.
Her fingernails were short. So short that they were almost unnoticeable, but that wasn't the problem… The issue was that the skin at the tips of all her fingers were raw and tender, almost bloody.
