Alessia stared down at the rings in Dervan's hand for several seconds before she looked back up at him, her eyes disbelieving. "You… think of me as a proper wife?"
"I do." He responded curtly.
"I don't believe you." She told him plainly. "Normal couples marry for love but we barely even know each other!"
'And worst of all, I'm a criminal!'
"You don't need to love someone to show basic… decency. You don't need love to live peacefully with a partner either, and this is a given since you've permanently become my wife." Dervan told her, placing one of the gold bands in the middle of her palm. "Now put this ring on my finger."
Alessia was utterly taken aback by his attitude. "You're showing basic decency to a criminal."
Dervan stared at her straight in the eyes, without any emotion. "Mrs. Salviati cannot be a criminal, that is impossible. Until I decide otherwise."
