Chapter 63 - Chapter 64: Training

"Why don't you lower the battery power? The blade is running at half the normal temperature. I feel like it could melt Beskar steel. Are you sure the hilt can handle it?"

"I won't be cutting anything near the hilt. If necessary, I can replace the blade tip with Beskar steel later."

"Don't worry about it, Master. Theoretically, it should be fine," Amir said helplessly.

Most of these materials were already stored on the ship: high-quality components that were also the most valuable currency in the galaxy.

As currency, they were flawless. However, using them for this purpose was somewhat "overkill."

This resulted in the lightsaber's energy output far exceeding expectations and greatly increasing the demands on the control system. Even though the theoretical requirements were met, Obi-Wan still couldn't feel at ease.

Theory is one thing, but Amir didn't dwell on it.

Finally, there was the outer shell. Amir looked at Obi-Wan's lightsaber for inspiration.

In front of him were piles of metal—all highly resilient, lightweight alloys. He selected some that he thought were suitable and began to draw design sketches.

Since there was no furnace on the spaceship, he couldn't melt the alloys using the engines like a Dragon Camel meat shop.

He would have to design it first and then find a local blacksmith to forge the alloys into the desired shapes tomorrow.

Seeing that his task was mostly complete, Obi-Wan slipped back to his room to sleep.

After finishing the design sketches for all the lightsaber parts, Amir's excitement gradually subsided. He thought that all apprentices must feel this way when crafting their first lightsaber.

As he walked back to his room, Amir slowly drifted off to sleep.

. . .

The next morning, he found a repair shop near the port with a furnace. He handed over the design blueprints and alloy materials.

After paying a small fee, he received the four outer shell components.

Eagerly retrieving the spaceship, he secured the inner core to the outer shell.

Assembling this simplest part posed no challenge for Amir, who had a natural talent for mechanics.

Using the Force, he suspended the four parts in front of him and slowly rotated them to align the joints. As the mechanical connections clicked into place, the four parts formed a seamless whole.

"You should go outside and open it," Obi-Wan called from the sofa.

"I don't sense anything wrong, Master," Amir said. Still, he walked outside the spacecraft.

Sneaking to the corner where the spacecraft was parked, he looked around to make sure no one was there. Then he checked the shield generator on his wrist guards once more before finally pressing the switch at the top of the lightsaber.

The green blade extended smoothly, emitting a soft glow and a low hum.

At the top of the hilt, near the blade, two symmetrical wings wrapped around and protected the blade's exit while connecting to the energy control knob.

The grip section below featured crisscrossed diagonal patterns to increase friction. Slightly higher up was the lightsaber's switch, which blended seamlessly into the lower section. Amir had placed all the components inside and designed this part of the casing as a smooth cylinder, making it slightly thicker than the upper section. The bottom was a gear-shaped convergence point topped with a hemispherical base cover.

Overall, the lightsaber was relatively smooth without the sharp edges of Obi-Wan's, making it comfortable to hold and perfectly suited to Amir's size requirements.

Looking at the green blade, Amir swung it around twice with satisfaction.

"It's definitely different," he said seriously, realizing that the difference between this lightsaber and the previous one was not just in the feel but also in the connection to the Force.

Under Amir's influence, the Kyber crystal inside the lightsaber seemed to come alive, breathing slowly. The humming sound in the air seemed to be its response to Amir.

Moreover, this lightsaber's blade was more solid and sharper.

Holding it felt like having a comrade-in-arms by your side, providing a sense of security.

Obi-Wan had been watching from beside the ship. He spoke up: "A lightsaber is not just a weapon; it's an extension of a Jedi Knight. With it, you can face any danger."

Amir closed the lightsaber and turned to Obi-Wan. "I feel it now, Master."

"Ah, if only my last apprentice had half your insight," said Obi-Wan, crossing his arms. "From today onward, we'll begin lightsaber training. How's your first form coming along?"

Amir chuckled bitterly. He had been flying around nonstop these past few days and hadn't had a chance to train properly.

But it wasn't too late to start now.

In fact, there was no better time to begin.

"Let's go back to your hut. This city, with its rampant materialism, is not a good place for training." Amir saw a few decent-looking restaurants and truly felt the stirrings of desire.

"Of course."

The two boarded the Traveler. Wolf had already gone out to explore. He said he wanted to visit the damp farm outside the city to observe and prepare for his future farming career.

Let him wander around Mos Eisley on his own. After all, he didn't know where he was going anyway.

Maybe he would discover a good place, and then Amir wouldn't mind giving him a ride back.

. . .

Back at the familiar hut, Amir and Obi-Wan stood facing each other on a flat rock, lightsabers in hand.

After activating his lightsaber, Amir assumed the standard starting stance.

"Attack with all your strength." Obi-Wan raised his right hand to shoulder height, extended it backward with the blade pointing forward, and extended his left hand forward as well.

This was the opening stance of the three forms of lightsaber combat, and it was Obi-Wan's specialty. It focused on defense, waiting for the opponent to expose a weakness before counterattacking.

When mastered, the high-frequency swings of the lightsaber form an impenetrable barrier, making it difficult for blasters or other weapons to break through.

Facing General Grievous—a mechanical Separatist general who wielded four lightsabers in a fan-like style—Obi-Wan moved effortlessly, finding opportunities to strike and severing the enemy's mechanical arms one after another.

Amir need not worry about accidentally harming Obi-Wan, even when giving his all. He simply needed to focus on refining his skills.

This relatively simple technique lacked complex maneuvers, with wide, sweeping swings being the primary component.

The training session begins with one of Amir's swings.
