As a giant reptilian creature representative of Tatooine, the Krayt Dragon had a terrifying appearance. A massive mouth filled with hideous teeth, spraying bursts of venom, huge sharp horns on its head, and five pairs of strong claws under its belly. An adult Canyon Krayt Dragon, one of the two subspecies, could grow to thirty or forty meters, while a Greater Krayt Dragon could grow to around a hundred meters.
They were enough to make anyone tremble with fear.
Their unique body structure allowed them to travel easily through the sand, rapidly reaching any place they wanted underground. This included the town where Wolf lived; the Banthas painstakingly raised by the residents often became their dinner.
"The Krayt Dragon is even more dangerous than the Tusken Raiders! They often come to the town to attack the livestock, but the people in the town don't dare to do anything," Wolf said, skeptical about making such a creature their target.
"The Tusken Raiders must also have a headache over the Krayt Dragon. Although slaying a dragon is their coming-of-age ceremony, not many complete this ritual. Besides, the Tuskens' mounts are all Banthas, which is undoubtedly a huge temptation for a Krayt Dragon. A starving Krayt Dragon would even eat the nomadic Tusken Raiders themselves. These nomadic tribes aren't like you; the ground beneath Mos Pelgo is filled with rock, but the Tusken Raiders living on the sand have nowhere to hide."
"They must also want to solve the Krayt Dragon problem. We can reach an agreement first: the townspeople help them kill the Krayt Dragon, and they take the dragon's body, but in the future, they can never attack the town again." Amir proposed a plan.
"Oh! That actually sounds feasible. Those damn bandits would agree to that too." Wolf suddenly realized. He knew he was right to find Amir; this guy looked smart at a glance, unlike himself, who only had brute strength.
Wolf nodded happily, but felt like he was forgetting something.
Finally, half a minute later, he slapped his thigh hard, startling Amir, who was drinking water.
"Wait, wait, wait! How do we kill a Krayt Dragon?!"
Amir put on an unfathomable expression, which made Wolf feel reassured.
"I'm thinking about that too..."
Wolf: ???!
Just then, a hale and hearty old man walked over with a glass of wine.
"Sorry, this old man overheard your conversation. My name is Cheyhun Dageti." The old man sat down on a chair by the table uninvited. "If you want to kill a Krayt Dragon, hehehe, then this old man actually knows how to do it!"
"Cheyhun?" Wolf made a strange face.
"Hey, old man, are you going to tell the story of how you slew a dragon when you were young again, haha?" a young man nearby teased.
"Shut up, little thing. You weren't even born back then." Cheyhun glanced at him.
"Tell us about it." Amir didn't mind their interaction. Instead, he looked at the old man with interest. He didn't see any abnormal fluctuations in the old man's Force; on the contrary, he was very confident.
The old man didn't speak but drank the wine in his hand.
Amir raised his hand to signal and ordered him another of the same: "On me."
"Hehehe, good lad. You know how to respect the old and cherish the young, unlike these idle... hic..."
Getting the wine, the old man finally agreed to speak.
"When I was young, I spent some time in a tribe of Tusken Raiders. They really are cruel monsters, but these monsters have a deeper understanding of Krayt Dragons than anyone else."
"They spent hundreds of years understanding the Krayt Dragon's habits, recording their nests, and looking for ways to kill them. The Krayt Dragon has exceptionally hard skin; it's difficult for blasters or even heavy laser cannons to break its defense. This creature also has an extremely keen perception of surrounding vibrations. Once it detects something it hasn't sensed before, like a spaceship, it will quickly burrow underground and disappear without a trace."
"The Tusken Raiders would use giant ballistas with chains to ambush it in the valley, use a Bantha to lure it out, shoot the ballistas to penetrate their skin, firmly fix the Krayt Dragon to the surface to prevent it from escaping into the sand, and then use Gaderffii sticks dipped in venom to constantly stab into the gaps in its scales, wearing it down over time until it dies."
Use venom, huh...
What the old man said should be true, but according to Obi-Wan's description, he had seen an incredibly huge Krayt Dragon a few years ago. The head alone was nearly ten meters long, so the total body must be immense.
That was a Greater Krayt Dragon, an adult Greater Krayt Dragon.
If the Krayt Dragon here was also that huge, Amir didn't think simple chains could imprison it.
"Cheyhun?" Amir asked.
"Yes."
"How big was the Krayt Dragon back then?"
The old man turned his head away, his eyes becoming evasive: "I think... probably about thirty or forty meters..."
He's lying.
Amir sighed long and hard.
The old man probably had seen a Krayt Dragon hunt, but that dragon must have been a juvenile. Leaving aside trapping an adult one, even if they trapped it, trying to kill it with poison would require pouring at least a few tons into it.
But at least Amir knew that the Tusken Raiders understood Krayt Dragons very well.
It seemed they needed to find a Tusken tribe first.
But before that, there was a problem.
He didn't speak the Tusken language.
"I'm going to a Tusken tribe. Does anyone speak their language?" Amir asked Wolf.
At this point, Cheyhun spoke up: "This old man can, hehehe. I still remember what I learned when I was young."
Amir nodded. "Do you want to come with me?"
Cheyhun got a little excited: "Of course. Slaying a dragon is something this old man is good at, cough cough, I've always wanted to do it... uh, do it again!"
"I'll go with you too," Wolf said. "The people here have helped me a lot. I want to do something too."
Amir thought for a moment and added, "The people from the town shouldn't get involved. The Empire might notice something unusual."
Amir already had a preliminary idea for the Krayt Dragon. Since the skin was very hard, they could attack from the inside. Pack a Bantha with explosives as bait, wait for the Krayt Dragon to swallow it, and then detonate... it was just that the explosives he had might not be enough. He needed to make some new, more powerful explosives.
Once the three decided, they didn't delay and boarded the Traveler, flying toward the depths of the desert.
Finding a hidden tribe in the endless desert was a difficult task, but Mos Pelgo had just been attacked, and Wolf clearly remembered the direction the Tusken Raiders had left.
They hadn't flown for long when they saw several black dots floating on the golden sand. Amir didn't fly the Traveler directly over their heads, as that would make them feel threatened.
Landing not far from the camp, Amir and the other two walked off the ship.
None of the three picked up weapons. They walked toward the Tuskens empty-handed. This group was very sharp and had spotted the three from far away.
A pack of Massiffs ran over at their command, baring their teeth and surrounding the three, roaring fiercely.
The old man was scared into covering his eyes, while Wolf frowned and placed his hand on his blaster.
They had shown goodwill, but the Tusken Raiders clearly didn't intend to reciprocate.
Amir looked at the creatures in front of him, which looked like dogs but also like lizards. He extended his right hand. The next second, these fierce yet silly creatures rolled over on the ground, exposing their bellies and wagging their tails frantically.
Wolf and Cheyhun stared wide-eyed.
