Broly's eyes narrowed as he warily studied the sudden appearance of the Ancient One inside the cabin. Her aura was unlike anything he had sensed before.
It drifted unpredictably, like the morning mist in a forest — elusive, ever-changing, almost impossible to define as "energy." Among all those Broly had encountered before, only the pre-demon Kaioken Goku came close in unpredictability.
"Who are you?"
Although he recognized her, Broly still asked out of habit, his voice commanding.
"I am the Supreme Sorcerer, the Ancient One, from Kamar-Taj. For many years, I have guarded Earth from invasions by beings from other dimensions," she replied.
The Ancient One's senses were taut; she was ready to summon the Seraphim Shield, her most potent defensive magic.
"So, you've come to fight me?"
Broly's aura surged violently, his excitement evident.
Matt, crouched behind him, was unprepared and was tossed several meters by the hurricane-like surge of energy. Though bruised and battered, he remained focused on Broly's interaction with the Ancient One. The intelligence gleaned from this encounter was exactly what the CIA had been seeking.
"No. I have not come for battle, but to save a life," the Ancient One explained.
Hearing this, Broly's excitement dulled slightly. With her ability to traverse dimensions and the Eye of Agamotto, she could come and go as she pleased. Killing her would be nearly impossible unless he truly wished to die.
"Save a life, huh? You seem to know a lot about me, but you're mistaken. Saiyans destroy, we don't save."
Broly stretched lazily on the sofa, scrutinizing the Ancient One. He suspected she had learned about his origins by glimpsing the future.
"No. You can. My eyes allow me to see the future," she said confidently.
With a gesture of her right hand, she drew a circle in the air and opened a portal to Kamar-Taj, retrieving a basket. Inside, nestled in soft straw, lay a single egg sac, still and quiet.
"This is one of Godzilla's descendants, the purest among the eggs laid by the Monster Mother, Winston. But it is born weak. Were it not for my suspension of time within the egg, it would die within ten minutes of hatching. Broly, only you can provide the nearly infinite life energy needed to hatch this egg."
Through the Eye of Agamotto, the Ancient One could peer into the future without consequence. She foresaw a day when a rift in the Pacific seabed would open to a parallel universe, allowing countless monsters to pour through. The entire Earth would be reduced to ruin.
Even she, the Ancient One, would struggle to face such colossal creatures. Ancient texts from Kamar-Taj revealed that these monsters had invaded Earth long before, millions of years ago. Only Godzilla, Earth's guardian at the time, had been capable of destroying them and sealing the rift.
But Godzilla had long been extinct. The Ancient One had spent years planning its resurrection. Over a decade ago, the excavation of Godzilla's fossils by the West Global Mining Company had been subtly guided by her.
Time halts! Matt's heart skipped a beat — the bald woman before him could manipulate time.
"Why should I hatch it?"
Broly asked.
"I have seen the future. A terrifying and unprecedented enemy will descend upon Earth. He is your Saiyan nemesis. With a mere gesture, he could wipe the planet from the universe. I believe you know his name. Once hatched, Godzilla will recognize you as its parent and become a powerful ally."
The Ancient One studied Broly's expression. She had glimpsed the future confrontation with Frieza — it had nearly taken her breath away.
"Frieza? Of course I know him. When he comes to Earth, I will personally snap his neck," Broly said casually. With his current power growth, Frieza posed little threat. By the time Frieza truly arrived, Broly might easily defeat him.
His reaction surprised the Ancient One. In her observation of the timeline, the battle between Broly and Frieza occurred in another dimension; the outcome was unknown. Yet she knew the future Frieza would possess a power far beyond Broly's current strength.
"Godzilla's power surpasses your imagination. Unlike Norman Osborn or Winston, it is not a genetically forced mutant. It is nearly identical to the original Godzilla."
"I don't need anyone else's power. With my fists alone, I can defeat anyone."
Broly eyed her skeptically. Hatching Godzilla was not a burden; he could even use it as a durable sparring partner. Yet he wondered why she was so desperate to revive Godzilla.
"In the future, terrifying monsters will appear on Earth. Only Godzilla can destroy them and seal the rifts they tear open," she said earnestly, revealing her true purpose.
"This planet sure has its share of disasters," Broly muttered, a rare comment. He extended his hand, signaling her to remove the spell from the egg. Immediately, he sensed the fragile life within — flickering like a candle in the wind, on the verge of extinction.
"Ha!"
Broly concentrated immense energy, channeling it into the egg. A normal being could not survive receiving such vast power, but the tiny egg devoured it greedily, without strain.
"Interesting. Let's see how much energy you can give," Broly growled, feeding even more into the egg.
The Ancient One raised an eyebrow at his rough handling. Had she not foreseen Godzilla's successful hatching, she would have intervened.
Finally, Broly ceased.
The egg, saturated with life energy, glowed brightly. Through its translucent shell, the struggling Godzilla embryo was visible, clawing to break free.
Godzilla, capable of laying thousands of eggs at once, usually only saw one or two hatch successfully. But the immense energy from Broly ensured this one would survive.
With ease, the embryo tore through the shell and lay wet and fragile in Broly's palm.
Tilting its head, it stared at him with dark, round eyes.
"Whee?"
The tiny growl was both cute and ominous, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in Earth's defense.
