Adrian's POV
I didn't believe her. Not for a second.
Every word that came out of her mouth felt rehearsed, calculated. But I kept my face neutral, my expression unreadable. I couldn't let her know what I was thinking—not yet.
"Do you really not remember anything?" I pressed, my voice low and controlled.
She shook her head, her expression one of helpless confusion. "I'm sorry, Adrian. It's all just blank. Like trying to remember a dream that's already faded."
"Who was the person who sent you here?"
Again, she shook her head, this time with what looked like genuine frustration. "I didn't get to see his face. He wore a hood, kept to the shadows. He just told me where to go and, here I am."
How convenient.
I glanced at Albert, who was watching the exchange with narrowed eyes. He didn't believe her either. "Master," Albert said quietly. "Perhaps we should verify—"
