The Elemental Devourer charged forward toward the adventurers. He was about to attack the group with his two-handed sword.
As he swung powerfully upwards, his sword was stopped by Gill's shield, sending up a strong gust of wind.
This was Kael's chance, as he and Markus charged at the Titan. While the Swordsman attempted to sever the ice man's head with his sword, Markus attacked its legs with his daggers.
*CLANG!*
*CLANG!*
The attacking hunters widened their eyes in disbelief. The Titan blocked their attacks simultaneously with a single block from his black ice sword.
The two hunters quickly jumped away from the Titan, just in time to avoid its sword, which would have cut them both in half if they hadn't moved away.
"Terra Carceris!" Brina shouted, waving her wand at the Elemental Devourer.
*CRACK-CRACK!*
*CRACK-CRACK!*
"Huhhhhhhh-!" The surprised Ice Titan was left helpless as the sorceress summoned a spherical wall of earth and rock around him, trapping him in a cell of Earth magic.
The purple-haired woman gasped in surprise, trapping the ice monster. "Uwaaaa..."
"Good job, Brina!" Kael praised her.
*CRACK!*
"?!" But just as suddenly as they relaxed, the Titan's sword pierced through the dome the sorceress had created.
"I admit, that was actually quite cool," the Titan admitted, brushing dust from his shoulder. "I'm sure if I were some weak and stupid monster, you would have defeated me long ago... But I'm not that kind of opponent. I'm the Elemental Devourer of Ice, remember? I'm the blizzard that will kill you."
With those words, beneath the feet of an adventurer named Gared, who had stayed behind to protect Brina just in case, an ice spear the width of a log rose from the ground with the speed of lightning.
Gared was impaled on the ice spear like a skewer. For a brief moment, he squirmed nervously. He couldn't scream. The tip of the ice spear emerged from his mouth.
Then Gared was dead.
Brina quickly jumped back, dodging another spear that rose from the ground at the last second. She quickly realized it wasn't over yet. Before she landed, she saw an icy spear flying toward her. She tilted her head just in time to avoid it. Instead of hitting her eye, the spear grazed her cheek.
When she finally landed, blood trickled down her cheek.
Henryk clenched his fist in frustration and fear as he stared at Gared's impaled body. He was completely paralyzed. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't look away from the horrific scene. The current situation was hopeless. The Titan was kicking the adventurers' asses and had already easily killed one of them.
[Additionally...] Zielczyk thought, trembling with fear, unable to even lift a finger. [That Brina sorceress definitely has such a thing as a limited mana supply. If she uses up all her mana, killing us all will be a mere formality.]
"Damn..." The sorceress wiped the blood from her cheek and glared angrily at the Elemental Devourer.
The fight continued.
"YOU BASTARD!!!" Gill's furious scream echoed throughout the cave. He glared at the ice man with pure fury and murderous intent.
He charged at him at full speed. He ran with his great shield like a battering ram. The Titan laughed at this scene and struck Gill's shield, creating an even stronger gust of wind than before.
Gill was furious. After all, the icy bastard had just killed his comrade and friend.
The clash of shield and black sword sent sparks flying. Gill felt the immense pressure of the Titan's strength, but he remained unwavering. Gritting his teeth, he refused to be crushed by its force.
"You know, man, it's funny," the Devourer said during their clash. "I never thought humans could use a shield well as a weapon. And you know what... I was right."
"Fuck you!" Gill shouted, trying with all his might not to fall over.
"You're really only using that shield to block. If you knew how to fight with it, you probably wouldn't look so pathetic trying to fight me in close combat."
Sparks were still visible between the shield and the sword. Gill didn't know if he could hold this position for even half a minute longer. He had to think of something, but what?
*BUUUUUUM!!!*
Suddenly, the Titan's powerful aura reappeared, creating a blizzard across the battlefield. Hunters and slaves shielded their eyes to prevent snow from falling into their eyes.
Gill didn't have it so easy. The Titan's pressure intensified even more. The shieldbearer couldn't bear it. He fell to the ground and felt a sword of black ice pressed against his throat.
"Such a disappointment," the Titan said with mock sadness in his voice. "So big, so strong, yet such an incompetent fool. No wonder that weakling died when his friends proved equally weak."
"FUCK YOU!!!"
Those were Gill's last words before the Titan slit his throat.
Henryk couldn't watch any longer. Now he was certain the adventurers would be killed. He had to flee. He gathered all his courage and slowly, stealthily approached a breach in the wall that he hoped was a passage to another cave.
[Fuck this! I'm not going to wait any longer for that ice madman to come and kill me!]
"Look out!" Someryn shouted, throwing himself at him, knocking him to the ground.
"What are you doing?!"
"Look." The man pointed at the wall next to the passage Henryk was about to enter.
"!!!" Henryk's eyes widened in shock as he saw ten stone spears embedded in the wall... They hadn't been there a second ago. When the young man looked back at the hunters fighting the Titan, he saw the blina shooting earth spears, and the Titan deflected them with his sword. He looked at Someryn in disbelief and then said, "Thanks, man."
"You're welcome," the white-haired man replied, then noticed the passage Henryk was about to enter. "Good idea, Hen."
Rising from their seats, they both entered the entrance, which eventually turned out to be a passageway. They hid behind a corner of the wall, watching the battle unfold.
They saw a pitiful sight. The exhausted adventurers could barely stand, while the Titan showed no sign of fatigue.
"How long do you think it will take that bastard to kill everyone?" Someryn asked with a straight face.
"Three minutes," Henryk said hesitantly, answering the question.
"I bet it'll take five minutes." The man spat on his hand and then tried to shake Henry's hand.
"Take your hand away," the young man replied, leaving the white-haired man in that position.
"Phii, you're no fun."
"Man, I'm tired, and I could die soon if that ice madman catches us. I don't have time for your stupid gambling... Besides, you have nothing to bet on."
"Ha ha. You're right," Someryn admitted with a wry smile.
[Come on, you son of a bitch.] Henryk thought nervously, watching the two-meter-tall Titan. [You must have some kind of weakness. If I kill them, then he'll definitely come for us. This cave must be a giant labyrinth. If we stumble upon him later, then that'll be the end.]
Henryk clenched his fist tightly. He couldn't allow himself to die in such a place. He had finally promised himself he would return home... to his father and sister.
"Dad... Daria..." He said their names so quietly that even Someryn couldn't hear him.
Now he had to watch the fight, hoping to find something that would help him escape.
